Fabrication of Schottky diodes for RFID tag integration using Standard $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process (RFID tag 집적화를 위한 $0.18{\mu}m$ 표준 CMOS 공정을 이용한 쇼트키 다이오드의 제작)

  • Schottky diodes for Radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag integration on chip were designed and fabricated using Samsung electronics System LSI standard $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Schottky diodes were designed as interdigitated fingers array by CMOS layout design rule. 64 types of Schottky diode were designed and fabricated with the variation of finger width, length and numbers with a $0.6{\mu}m$ guard ring enclosing n-well. Titanium was used as Schottky contact metal to lower the Schottky barrier height. Barrier height of the fabricated Schottky diode was 0.57eV. DC current - voltage measurements showed that the fabricated Schottky diode had a good rectifying properties with a breakdown voltage of -9.15 V and a threshold voltage of 0.25 V.

Design of a 6-bit 500MS/s CMOS A/D Converter with Comparator-based Input Voltage Range Detection Circuit

  • A low power 6-bit flash ADC that uses an input voltage range detection algorithm is described. An input voltage level detector circuit has been designed to overcome the disadvantages of the flash ADC which consume most of the dynamic power dissipation due to comparators array. In this work, four digital input voltage range detectors are employed and each input voltage range detector generates the specific clock signal only if the input voltage falls between two adjacent reference voltages applied to the detector. The specific clock signal generated by the detector is applied to turn the corresponding latched comparators on and the rest of the comparators off. This ADC consumes 68.82 mW with a single power supply of 1.2V and achieves 4.3 effective number of bits for input frequency up to 1 MHz at 500 MS/s. Therefore it results in 4.6 pJ/step of Figure of Merit (FoM). The chip is fabricated in 0.13-um CMOS process.

  • This paper discusses on application of meta-heuristic algorithms such as the genetic algorithm (GA) and the simulated annealing (SA) to the LSI module placement. We propose useful crossover method for improving of searching capability in genetic algorithm. By using our proposed crossover method, we have been able to keep good schemata in the chromosome and the variety of the solution. From the experimental results, we have obtained better result than the simulated annealing method by starting from the initial placement of the min-cut method.

  • In this paper, a path control switch has been developed for self-healing operation in SDH-based transmission system. The proposed switch is suitable for self-healing operations in both an Unidirectional Path Switched Ring and a 2-fiber Bidirectional Line Switched Ring. The path control switch is implemented with $0.8{\mu}m$ CMOS LSI chip. The self-healing operation of the switch is effectively done by the configuration information stored in the registers of the switch. The switch has an AU-3(51.84Mb/s) TSI(Time Slot Interchange) and has 1.25Gb/s throughput. But the higher throughput can be realized by combining two identical switches or more with the parallel architecture.

  • Copper tubes are widely used in the distribution systems of drinking water throughout the world because of their excellent corrosion resistance, high thermal conductivity, and ease of fabrication. However, corrosion problems from copper tubes as blue water phenomenon and leakage have been reported appreciably. The effect of pH on the corrosion behavior of copper tube for tap water was investigated by electrochemical voltammetric techniques in synthetic tap water. And the copper corrosion cases were discussed from the viewpoint of factors affecting the corrosion rate such as pH, alkalinity, LSI(Langelier Saturation Index), and concentration of bicarbonate and dissolved carbon dioxide.

  • A Fuzzy Microprocessor(FMP) is presented, which is suitable for real-time control applications. The features include high speed inference of maximum 114K FLIPS at 20MHz system clocks, capability of up to 128-rule construction, and handing of 8 input variables with 8-bit resolution. In order to realize these features, the fuzzifier circuit and the processing element(PE) are well optimized for LSI implementation. The chip fabricated in 1.2$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology contains 71K transistors in 82.8 $\textrm{mm}^2$ die size and is packaged in 100-pin plastic QFP.

  • 여러산업 분야에서 요구되는 자동화, 정밀화는 인간이 개입할 수 없는 진공프로세서를 요구하기에 이르렀다. LSI제조 프로세서에서 제조공정의 약 70%를차지하는 wafer의 반송에서 flexibility를 갖고 고속위치 결정이 가능한 로보트가 필요하게 되었으며, 핵융합로의 유지용 로보트가 필요하게 되었으며, 핵융합로의 유지용 로보트 및 우주공간에서 운전되는 로보트등 청정진공형 로보트에 대한 기대가 높아지고 있다. 본 강연에서는 미국 및 일본 등지에서 wafer자동반송장치로 현재 개발되었거나 혹은 개발중인 자동화장치 기술에 관한 주요한 몇가지 점을 소개하였다. 반도체 산업이 수출의 주요산업으로 등장하고 있는 이때 반도체 제조공정의 자동화기술의 확보는 매우 시급한 과제이며 이를 해결하기 위하여 특별기술 개발위원회를 구성하여 산학협동하여 조직적으로 최소한 5개년계획으로 추진할 것을 제의한다.

  • The ultrasonic motor(USM) has good characteristics such as compact size, silent motion, low speed, high torque and high speed response. The USM is driven by 2-phase AC electricity. The control parameters of USM are voltage, phase difference, frequency of input power, etc. In this paper, we propose voltage difference control. And we designed USM controller to adjust voltage and phase using pLSI(programmable Large Scale Integration). Voltage difference control has many advantages that are lower current, lower power than phase difference control. Especially there is nearly zero ampere at the zero point of speed and torque. we can apply this voltage difference control to the compliance control of DD manipulator.

Comparison of FPGA-based Direct Torque Controllers for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

  • This paper compares two types of direct torque controllers for permanent magnet synchronous motors(PMSMs). These controllers both use a single-chip FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) but have differing hardware configurations. One of the controllers was constructed by programming a soft-core CPU and hardware logic circuits written in VHDL(Very high speed IC Hardware Description Language), while the other was constructed of only hardware logic circuits. The characteristics of these two controllers were compared in this paper. The results show the controller constructed of only hardware logic circuits was able to shorten the control period and it was able to suppress the low torque ripple.

  • 리니어 발전기는 리니어 엔진의 시동에 필요한 연소조건을 만들기 위하여 전동기로 동작하다가 연소가 안정화되면 발전기로 동작을 하여 PCS(Power Conditioning System)를 통해서 전력을 계통으로 보내주게 된다. 리니어 엔진의 초기 시동을 하기 위하여 발전기는 운동주파수와 운동방향, 그리고 힘의 크기를 제어해야 하며, 발전 시에는 엔진의 동작에 맞도록 전력을 제어해야 한다. 이를 효율적으로 제어하기 위하여 MSC(Machine Side Converter)에서 상전류를 독립적으로 조절할 수 있는 H-bridge로 각 상을 구성하였다. LSI(Line Side Inverter)는 DC-Link 전압을 제어하여, MSC의 동력/발전 동작에 따라서 전력을 계통에서 받아오거나 전력을 계통으로 보내는 동작을 한다. 본 연구에서는 리니어 발전기 모델링를 통해서 PCS 제어 알고리즘을 확인하고 전체 시스템과 연동을 한 실제 운전특성에 대하여 살펴보았다.
