  • LRT(Light Rail Transit) is currently adopting a more upgraded signal system these days. This latest signal system is a train on-board signal system with moving block based on the realtime bi-directional wireless communications. The system applies RF-CBTC(Radio Frequency - Communication Based Train Control System) in order th execute fully automated manless operation. This paper reviews the performance requirements and safety of RF-CBTC that will be applied to the fully automated manless operation for LRT.

  • MAGLEV(Magnetic Levitation) with Middle-low speed be classified as a kind of LRT(Light Rail Transit) in KOREA. Also this vehicle has adopted LIM propulsion method. The MAGLEV has adopted LIM type in operational or developing model in the world. The power rail of LIM is very similar with the 3th rail of LRT in the functional property but the structure and shape of power rail is different with that. WE have to search the optimal power rail system for Korean MAGLEV vehicle. In this paper, we suggest the conceptual design and direction of design for power rail of Korean MAGLEV developing.

  • This paper deals with dynamic characteristics of automated guideway transit vehicle with rubber tires. Several models for guideway system of LRT(Light Rail Transit) have been Proposed because of the necessity of guideway system for LRT with rubber tires on exclusive rail unlike steel tires. Here, steering system and bogie system are investigated to compare with dynamic characteristics. On selecting guideway system, the way of vehicle operation should be considered and simultaneously the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle must be evaluated with respect to each guideway. The results show that stability is essential for vehicle with steering system, and that single-axle bogie system gives the good stability, though it is necessary to reduce the guide-wheel force

  • This paper proposes the Train Control System for the LRT(light rail transit). With regard to information processing in car, we build a computer network in the car, turned the hardware required for train control into software, and developed the Train Control Monitoring System(TCMS) and ATC. Drive Type of Train control system car can drive with Driverless mode basically, and this paper applied 10Mbps special communication type for car control, data analysis, The propulsion efforts and breaking effort can control the cars. It is used Vector Control in Propulsion control and proposed Operating pattern for Propulsion control thinking Operating data of Rubber Tire LRT.

  • It requires different safety programs from those of the typical train control systems to develop AGT systems applying train control system based on communication technology. Especially Advanced LRT system involves the processes that have the various safety functions being conducted by softwares and also have characteristics that should have special interest in validation of interface specification. The core items for the safety engineering for LRT control systems are hardware & software engineering, safety-critical system safety engineering, application software validation & verification technologies. In this paper the trends of the technologies for the mentioned core-items are described.

  • Traffic congestion caused by cverpopulation has a major detrimental effect on bringing about social and economic problems ia city area. Therefore Un order to maintain and sustain smooth flow of railway system, we are willing to introduce Light Rail Transit System. Rubber wheel type and guideway far AGT have been concentrated on our study Especially, the prototype of LRT turnout system has been developed. Furthermore, the structural analysis for the guideway system has been completed to secure reliability for the LRT system. In the near future, the tumout system of rubber wheel and guideway shall be applied in Korea. We hope reliability fer the system shall be secured without any major difficulties. As a result, we expect to expedite the localization of rubber wheel type and guideway for AGT.

  • The Maglev(UTM-02) project is leading by Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials and financially supported from the ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. The early development stagy of Maglev(UTM-02) was adopted the general urban railway pneumatic brake system due to the Korea domestic industrial environment. Currently there is two commercial operation Light Railway Train(LRT) system in Korea. One is U-Line in Uijungbu, and the other is Everline in Yongin. Both LRT systems are adopting high performance light weight hydraulic brake system. But those design and manufacturing core technology of the brake system is came from a major brake system companies located from aboard. Currently various studies have been continued to increase practical application and to improve competitiveness on performance for each sub-system of Maglev. Also in case of brake system, developing competitive hydraulic brake system is required. In this study, we have introduced the development process and performance evaluation of the new hydraulic brake system of Maglev.

A Study on DC-DC Converter Development for LRT Wireless Power Supply

  • In this paper, we have proposed the development of DC-DC converter for LRT power supply. First of all, we have studied converter technology, main functions and characteristics were determined. In also, the converter design was carried out to meet the system design conditions. Based on this design, converter simulation is performed to enable stable charging and discharging of the vehicle system. We have performed the Light-load test according to charge mode, discharge mode. As a result, the manufactured converter performance was verified through the load test, and it's stability was confirmed.
