Among the learning methods for Continuous Learning environments, "Learning without Forgetting" has fixed regularization strengths, which can lead to poor performance in environments where various data are received. We suggest a way to set weights variable by identifying the features of the data we want to learn. We applied weights adaptively using correlation and complexity. Scenarios with various data are used for evaluation and experiments showed accuracy increases by up to 5% in the new task and up to 11% in the previous task. In addition, it was found that the adaptive weight value obtained by the algorithm proposed in this paper, approached the optimal weight value calculated manually by repeated experiments for each experimental scenario. The correlation coefficient value is 0.739, and overall average task accuracy increased. It can be seen that the method of this paper sets an appropriate lambda value every time a new task is learned, and derives the optimal result value in various scenarios.
Among various metal oxides semiconductors, $TiO_2$ is the most studied semiconductor for environmental clean-up applications due to its unique ability in photocatalyzing various organic contaminants, its chemical inertness, and nontoxicity. $TiO_2$, however, has a few drawbacks to be solved such as reactivity mainly working under ultraviolet irradiation (${\lambda}$ < 387 nm) and electron - hole recombination on $TiO_2$. In this study, to extend the absorption range of $TiO_2$ into the visible range and enhance electron - hole separation, we synthesized platinum (Pt) deposited $C-TiO_2$. The presence of Pt as an electron sink has been known to snhance the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs and induce the thermal decomposition. The characterization of as-synthesized $Pt-C-TiO_2$ was performed by Transmission Electron Microscopic (TEM), the Brunuer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), UV-vis spectrometer (UV-DRS), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). In order to estimate the photocatalytic activity of the synthesized materials, the photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). In order to estimate the photocatalytic activity of the synthesized materials, the photodegradation experiment of an azo dye (Acid Red 44; $C_{10}H_7N=NC_{10}H_3(SO_3Na)_2OH$)was carried out by using an Xe arc lamp (300 W, Oriel). A 420 nm cut-off filter was used for visible light irradiation. From the results, Pt-deposited $C-TiO_2$ showed a far superior phothdegradation activity to Degussa P25, the commercial product under the irradiation of visible light and enhanced photocatalytic activity of visible-working $C-TiO_2$. This is a useful result into the application for the purification system of dye wastewater using visible energy of sun light.

This study is to investigate the physicochemical properties of differently pretreated chestnut starches during starch isolation and to examine their gelatinization properties by both heat and alkali treatments. One kind is starch A made by alkali method from peeled chestnut. The other is starch B made from chestnut with the outer layer. The results are as follows. Starch A has higher water binding capacity of 86.9% than starch B with 80.66%. Swelling powers of both starch A and B increased rapidly from $60^{\circ}C\;to\;80^{\circ}C$ in both, and since then it has changed a bit. Both began to show their solubility at $60^{\circ}C$ and increased continuously as the temperature went up. Starch A has higher swelling power and solubility than starch B. In iodine reaction, starch A has higher ${\lambda}max$ and absorbance at ${\lambda}max$ than starch B. X-ray diffraction patterns showed that starch A is type $C_b$ and that starch B is type B. Starch B has higher relative crystallinity of 37.0% than starch A with 36.2%. The results by differential scanning calorimetry revealed that starch A gelatinized from $66.95^{\circ}C$ to $77.5^{\circ}C$ and its enthalpy is 2.04 cal/g. And starch B gelatinized from $67.09^{\circ}C\;to\;77.5^{\circ}C$, and its enthalpy is 2.29 cal/g. Amylograms of chestnut starch at 6.5% concentration indicated that starch B needs higher onset temperature when beginning to gelatinize than starch A does. But starch A shows much higher peak viscosity, breakdown and setback than starch B does. Starch A shows higher viscosity, gel volume, and optical transmittance in gelatinization properties by alkali than starch B does.

We report the assembly procedure and performance evaluation of a visible and near-infrared spectrometer in the wavelength region of 400-900 nm, which is later to be combined with fore-optics (a telescope) to form a f/2.5 imaging spectrometer with a field of view of ${\pm}7.68^{\circ}$. The detector at the final image plane is a $640{\times}480$ charge-coupled device with a $24{\mu}m$ pixel size. The spectrometer is in an Offner relay configuration consisting of two concentric, spherical mirrors, the secondary of which is replaced by a convex grating mirror. A double-pass test method with an interferometer is often applied in the assembly process of precision optics, but was excluded from our study due to a large residual wavefront error (WFE) in optical design of 210 nm ($0.35{\lambda}$ at 600 nm) root-mean-square (RMS). This results in a single-path test method with a Shack-Hartmann sensor. The final assembly was tested to have a RMS WFE increase of less than 90 nm over the entire field of view, a keystone of 0.08 pixels, a smile of 1.13 pixels and a spectral resolution of 4.32 nm. During the procedure, we confirmed the validity of using a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor to monitor alignment in the assembly of an Offner-like spectrometer.
The efficient algorithms are suggested in this study for solving the multicommodity network flow problems applied to Communications Systems. These problems are typical NP-complete optimization problems that require integer solution and in which the computational complexity increases numerically in appropriate with the problem size. Although the suggested algorithms are not absolutely optimal, they are developed for computationally efficient and produce near-optimal and primal integral solutions. We supplement the traditional Lagrangian method with a price-directive decomposition. It proceeded as follows. First, A primal heuristic from which good initial feasible solutions can be obtained is developed. Second, the dual is initialized using marginal values from the primal heuristic. Generally, the Lagrangian optimization is conducted from a naive dual solution which is set as ${\lambda}=0$. The dual optimization converged very slowly because these values have sort of gaps from the optimum. Better dual solutions improve the primal solution, and better primal bounds improve the step size used by the dual optimization. Third, a limitation that the Lagrangian decomposition approach has Is dealt with. Because this method is dual based, the solution need not converge to the optimal solution in the multicommodity network problem. So as to adjust relaxed solution to a feasible one, we made efficient re-allocation heuristic. In addition, the computational performances of various versions of the developed algorithms are compared and evaluated. First, commercial LP software, LINGO 4.0 extended version for LINDO system is utilized for the purpose of implementation that is robust and efficient. Tested problem sets are generated randomly Numerical results on randomly generated examples demonstrate that our algorithm is near-optimal (< 2% from the optimum) and has a quite computational efficiency.

Mandipropamid is a new mandelamide-type fungicide to control foliar Oomycete pathogens in some vegetables. An analytical method was developed to determine mandipropamid residues in agricultural commodities using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS). Mandipropamid was extracted with methanol from grape, tomato, green pepper, Chinese cabbage and potato samples. The extract was diluted with saturated sodium chloride solution and distilled water, and dichloromethane partition was followed to recover the mandipropamid from the aqueous phase. Florisil column chromatography was employed to further remove interfering co-extractives prior to HPLC analysis. Reverse-phased HPLC was successfully applied to determine mandipropamid in sample extracts with the detection at its ${\lambda}_{max}$ (223 nm). Overall recoveries of mandipropamid from fortified samples averaged $99.8{\pm}1.7$ (n=6), $89.3{\pm}5.3$ (n=6), $98.7{\pm}2.2$ (n=6), $99.7{\pm}6.8$ (n=6) and $91.1{\pm}3.1$ (n=6) for grape, tomato, green pepper, Chinese cabbage and potato, respectively. Limit of quantification of the method was 0.02~0.04 mg/kg for all samples. A LC/mass spectrometry with selected-ion monitoring was also provided to confirm the suspected residue. The proposed method was reproducible and sensitive enough to determine the terminal residue of mandipropamid in agricultural commodities.

To achieve low-cost and high-efficiency of thin-film solar cells applications, the sol-gel method that can be coated on a large area substrate, obtain homogeneous thin films of high purity was used. We studied structural and optical characteristics versus annealing temperature of $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ which has kesterite structure by substitution low-cost sulfur (S) instead of high-cost selenium (Se). By analyzing XRD patterns, main peak was observed at $2{\theta}=28.5^{\circ}$ when Zn/Sn ratio is 0.8/1.2. And when we observed kesterite structure which has orientation of (112) direction, the more annealing temperature increase the bigger strength of (112) direction is. $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ thin film showed characteristics of kesterite structure at $550^{\circ}C$. And when we calculated lattice constant, a = 5.5047 and $c=11.014{\AA}$ as same JCPDS (Joint Committee on Powder Standards) data measured. We measured optical transmittance to analyze optical characteristics. Optical transmittance was lower than 65 % at visible ray (${\lambda}=380{\sim}770nm$).

Purpose : This study was to provide the methods of developing the growth charts and the blood pressure nomogram among Korean children and adolescents. Methods : The growth charts were developed based on the data from the national growth surveys for children and adolescents in 1998 and 2005. The percentile charts were developed through two stages. At the first stage, the selected empirical charts were smoothed through several fitting procedures including parametric and non-parametric methods. At the second stage, a modified LMS (lambda, mu, sigma) statistical procedure was applied to the smoothed percentile charts. The LMS procedure allowed to estimate any percentile and to calculate standard deviation units and z-scores. The charts for weight-for-age, height-for-age, BMI-for-age, weight-for-height and head circumference-for-age were developed by sex. Age and normalized height controlled sex-specific nomograms of systolic and diastolic blood pressure were developed by a fixed effect model of general regression using the data from 2005 national growth survey. Results : The significant systemic differences between the percentiles of growth charts and the empirical data were not found. The final output of the study is available from Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention homepage, http://www.cdc.go.kr/webcdc/. Blood Pressure nomogram was tabulated by height percentiles and age using the regression coefficients analyzed with regression model. Conclusion : 2007 growth charts and blood pressure nomogram were the first products based on the statistical modeling using the national survey data. The further study on the methodology including data collection, data cleaning and statistical modeling for representative growth charts would be needed.
Purpose: Mitochondrial disease (MD) and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) are often associated with cardiomyopathy, but the myocardial variability has not been isolated to a specific characteristic. We evaluated the left ventricular (LV) mass by echocardiography to identify the general distribution and functional changes of the myocardium in patients with MD or DMD. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the echocardiographic data of 90 children with MD and 42 with DMD. Using two-dimensional echocardiography, including time-motion (M) mode and Doppler measurements, we estimated the LV mass, ratio of early to late mitral filling velocities (E/A), ratio of early mitral filling velocity to early diastolic mitral annular velocity (E/Ea), stroke volume, and cardiac output. A "z score" was generated using the lambda-mu-sigma method to standardize the LV mass with respect to body size. Results: The LV mass-for-height z scores were significantly below normal in children with MD ($-1.02{\pm}1.52$, P<0.001) or DMD ($-0.82{\pm}1.61$, P =0.002), as were the LV mass-for-lean body-mass z scores. The body mass index (BMI)-for-age z scores were far below normal and were directly proportional to the LV mass-for-height z scores in both patients with MD (R =0.377, P<0.001) and those with DMD (R =0.330, P=0.033). The LV mass-for-height z score correlated positively with the stroke volume index (R =0.462, P<0.001) and cardiac index (R =0.358, P<0.001). Conclusion: LV myocardial atrophy is present in patients with MD and those with DMD and may be closely associated with low BMI. The insufficient LV mass for body size might indicate deterioration of systolic function in these patients.

To enhance near UV-visible absorption region and to applied phosphor convert-white LEOs (PC-WLEDs), a red phosphor composed of ${Y_2}{SiO_5}:\;EU^{3+}$, $Bi^{3+}$ compounds was prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction. The photoluminescence (PL) shown that samples were excited by near UV light 395 nm for measurement of PL spectra. Emission spectra of samples have shown red emissions at 612 nm ($^5D_0{\to}^7F_2$). The enhanced near $UV{\sim}$ visible excitation spectrum with a broad band centered at 258 nm and 282 nm originated in the transitions toward the charge transfer state (CTS) due to the $Eu^{3+}-Bi^{3+}-O^{2-}$ interaction. The other excitation band at $350\;nm{\sim}480\;nm$, corresponding to the transitions $^7F_0{\to}^5L_9$ (364 nm), $^7F_0{\to}^5G_3$ (381 nm), $^7F_0{\to}^5L_6$ (395 nm), $^7F_0{\to}^5D_3$, (415 nm) and $^7F_0{\to}^5D_2$ (466 nm), occurred due to enhanced the f-f transition increasing $Bi^{3+}$ and $Eu^{3+}$ ions. The PL intensity increased with increased as concentration of $Bi^{3+}$ and the emission intensity becomes with a maximum at 0.125 mol.
