해양생물 크릴(Euphausia superba)이 흰쥐의 혈청 유리지방산 및 전해질 농도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Krill (Euphausia superba) on Free Fatty Acid and Electrolyte Concentrations in Rats)

  • 본 연구는 식이조성에 동결 건조한 krill (Euphausia superba) meal을 첨가 하였을 때 Sprague Dawley계 수컷 흰쥐의 유리지방산(non-esterified fatty acid, NEFA), blood urea nitrogen(BUN), creatinine, uric acid 및 전해질에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사를 하였다. 식이조성은 기본식이를 급여한 대조군인 GC군(krill meal 미함유)을 비롯하여 기본식이에 10.0%, 20.0%, 30.0%의 krill meal 급여군을 각각 G10군, G20군, G30군으로 구분하였다. 5주간 실험 사육한 결과, 흰쥐의 NEFA와 BUN 농도는 krill meal 급여군(G10군, G20군, G30군)에서 대조군(GC 군)보다 유의적으로 감소된 결과를 보였고, creatinine과 uric acid 농도는 G10군에서는 GC군과 유의적 차이가 없었으나, G20군과 G30군에서 유의적으로 감소하였다(p<0.05). 전해질 농도에서 total calcium (T-Ca)은 G20군과 G30군에서 유의적으로 증가하였으며, 인(Pi) 농도는 각 군간에 유의적 차이가 없는 것으로 관찰되었다(p<0.05).

Krill and Currents-Physical and Biological Interactions Influencing the Distribution of Euphausia superba

  • The distribution and abundance of Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba), particularly in the South Atlantic, has traditionally been viewed as primarily determined by the flow of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. Krill are viewed as being particles on a conveyor belt that carries them around the Antarctic continent resulting in a single circumpolar population. The evidence to support this viewpoint is largely circumstantial and there is very little direct evidence available of krill being moved by the currents-krill flux. There is also considerable biological and physical evidence which suggests that other factors may play a dominant role in the life history and distribution of krill. This review examines the evidence fur krill flux and also examines evidence that does not accord with this theory. The management implications of assuming krill flux are outlined and some lines for future research are suggested.

남극 크릴(Euphausia superba)을 이용한 패티의 제조 및 품질 특성 (Food Quality of Patties Prepared Using Antarctic Krill Euphausia superba Meat)

  • This study developed patties using the Antarctic krill Euphausia superba and investigated the food quality of the patties. Three different types of krill patty were produced: krill patties with added 1) corn oil (CKP), 2) AA grade surimi (AKP), and FA grade surimi (FKP). Their proximate composition, Hunter color value, texture, sensory evaluation, and levels of astaxanthin, cholesterol, calories, total amino acids, fatty acids, and fluoride were investigated. The moisture and crude protein contents were highest in FKP. The calorie and astaxanthin contents were highest in CKP and lowest in AKP. The cholesterol content was highest in CKP and lowest in AKP. Measuring the Hunter color value of cross-sections of the patties, the L values were highest for FKP, and the a and b values highest for AKP. The total amino acids were highest in FKP and lowest in CKP. The major fatty acids were highest in FKP. The hardness and chewiness were highest in FKP and lowest in CKP. The fluoride content was highest in AKP and lowest in FKP. The sensory evaluation had the highest scores for FKP and lowest for CKP. Accordingly, FKP appears to have better food quality than the other two products.

Krill 분말 및 NaF 투여가 흰쥐의 BUN 및 Creatinine 농도에 미치는 영향 (Influences of the BUN and Creatinine Level by Krill (Euphausia superba) Meal and NaF Administration in Rats)

  • Krill (Euphausia superba) 분말이 Sprague Dawley계 수컷 흰쥐 혈청 중 non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, uric acid 및 전해질 농도에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 기본식이를 급여한 대조군인 BG군과 기본식이에 NaF 10 mg 경구 투여한 BFG군을 비롯하여 10%, 20%, 30%의 krill 분말을 첨가한 식이에 NaF 10 mg 경구 투여한 KMF10군, KMF20군, KMF30군, 5가지의 급여군으로 나누어 5주간 사육한 결과, 흰쥐의 NEFA와 BUN, creatinine 농도는 krill 분말 급여군인 KMF10군, KMF20군, KMF30군에서 BFG군보다 유의적으로 감소한 결과가 관찰되었으며, uric acid 농도에서 KMF10군은 BFG군과 유의적 차이가 없었으나, KMF20군과 KMF30군에서 유의적으로 감소하였다(p<0.05). 또한 전해질 농도에서 총 칼슘(T-Ca)은 군간의 유의적 차이가 없는 것으로 관찰되었지만 krill 분말 함량에 따라 증가하였으며(p<0.05), 인(Pi) 농도는 krill meal 함량에 따른 변화는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, krill 분말은 NEFA 및 BUN, creatinine, uric acid 농도 개선에 효과가 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Effects of Environmental Changes on Stock of Krill and Salp in the Atlantic and Indian Sectors of the Antarctic

  • Long-tenn variation in krill (Euphausia superba) and salp (mainly Salpa thompsoni) stocks was compared to environmental changes in the Atlantic and Indian sectors of the Antarctic. Environmental conditions examined were air temperature, water temperature, salinity, and sea-ice extent from 1926 to 1938 and from 1982 to 2000. The long-term pattern of krill was opposite to that of salp: krill stock decreased while salp stock increased concurrently. Krill stock was about three-fold higher from 1926 to 1938 than from 1982 to 2000, but salp was about four -fold lower in 1926-1938 than in 1982-2000. A wanning trend was observed in the environmental data, and the long-term variation in krill and salp stocks was affected by this trend.

Angiotensin I Converting Enzyme Inhibitory Activity of Krill (Euphausia superba) Hydrolysate

  • Angiotensin I converting enzyme inhibitory activities of shelled krill (Euphausia superba) hydrolysates by autolysis and by hydrolysis with commercial proteases were analyzed. Among the proteases, Alcalase was the most effective protease for the hydrolysis of krill considering the degree of hydrolysis $(87.5\%)$ and the ACE inhibitory activity $(60\%)$. Four hour hydrolysis suggested as the most suitable and economic. In order to establish the optimum hydrolysis condition of krill, degree of hydrolysis and ACE inhibitory activity as affected by Alcalase concentration and water amount added were statistically analyzed by response surface methodology (RSM). The optimum hydrolysis condition was $2.0\%$ Alcalase hydrolysis in 2 volumes (v/w) of water at $55\% for 4 hr. The hydrolysate prepared from the optimum hydrolysis condition was fractionated by molecular weight. The lower molecular weight fraction showed the higher ACE inhibitory activity. $IC_{50}$ of the fraction under 500 Da was 0.57mg protein/mL.

남빙양 krill이 흰쥐의 혈청 지질성분 및 알부민/글로불린 비에 미치는 영향 (Influences of Antarctic Ocean Krill (Euphausia superba) on Lipid Components and A/G Ratio in Rats)

  • The aim of the study were to investigate the influences of krill (Euphausia superba) meal on the body weight, lipid metabolism functional improvement, blood glucose level, protein component in the sera of rats which fed experimental diets for 5 weeks. Serum concentrations of total cholesterol, Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, free cholesterol, triglyceride (TG), phospholipid (PL) and blood glucose were higher in the control diet group (G1 group) than the control diet plus 10% krill meal group (G2 group), the control diet plus 20% krill meal group (G3 group), the control diet plus 30% krill meal group (G4 group), and a general dose and time independent one-way analysis of variance was performed to assess efficacy. Conversely depending on the content of krill meal for the High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol level, it showed higher results. The concentrations of total protein, albumin and globulin in sera, there were not significant difference among the groups (p<0.05). The results indicate that a krill meal diet effectively inhibited increases in lipid elevation, blood glucose level in the sera of rats.

남극해 크릴의 섭취가 흰쥐의 간 기능 효소 활성 및 불소 함량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Antarctic Ocean Krill (Euphausia superba) Supplementation on Hepatic Functional Enzyme Activities and Fluoride Levels in Rats)

  • 본 연구는 동결 건조한 krill (Euphausia superba) meal을 함량별 섭취시켰을 때 7주령된 Sprague Dawley계 수컷 흰쥐의 혈청 중 alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aminotransferase (AST, ALT) 및 lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) 등 혈청 간 기능 효소활성과 장기 조직의 불소 함량에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 기본식이를 급여한 대조군인 CG군을 비롯하여 10%, 20%, 30%의 krill meal을 첨가한 급여군을 각각 KM10군, KM20군, KM30군으로 구분하여 4군의 급여군으로 나누어 5주간 실험 사육한 결과는 다음과 같다. 혈청 중 alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aminotransferase (AST, ALT) 및 lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)의 효소 활성은 대조군인 CG군 보다 krill meal을 함량별 첨가 급여군에서 감소되는 것으로 나타났다. 흰쥐의 혈청 및 장기조직(간, 뇌, 심장, 신장)의 불소 함량은 krill meal의 함량에 따라 불소 함량도 증가되는 것으로 나타났다.

크릴(Euphausia superba)의 영양성분 및 아미노산 조성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Nutritional Components and Amino Acid Compositions of Krill (Euphausia superba))

  • Despite abundant nutritions, krill is barely used for human consumption. The objective of this study was to investigate the nutritional component and amino acid composition of krill and further utilizes it for food resource. Proximate compositions of krill meal were consisted of crude protein 58.85%, ash 13.89%, crude fat 12.45%, carbohydrate 11.01% and moisture 3.80%. The amount of total amino acid was 54.74 g%, and the major amino acids were glutamic acid (7.71 g%), aspartic acid (6.20 g%), leucine (4.72 g%), lysine (4.41 g%), arginine (6.49 g%) and alanine (3.25 g%), respectively. Total essential amino acid content was 21.87%, and the major amino acids were leucine (4.72 g%), lysine (4.41 g%) and isoleucine (2.90 g%), respectively. Content of total free amino acid in krill meal was 20224.30 mg/kg, and the major free amino acids were taurine (4501 mg/kg), arginine (3130.60 mg/kg), proline (2302.90 mg/kg), alanine (2088.10 mg/kg), glycine (1606.40 mg/kg) and lysine (1197.40 mg/kg). Especially, taurine was the most abundant of all free amino acids. Thus, these data indicate that krill seems to be abundant protein source food.

남극해 크릴 새우의 지방산조성과 무기질 및 비타민함량 (Fatty Acid Compositions, Mineral and Vitamin Contents of the Antarctic Krill (Euphausia superba))

  • Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) is typical of a enormous biomass of marine zooplankton that could provide good nutrition in human body. This study was conducted to identify the nutrition of krill, a live in Antarctic Ocean. The analysis result of fatty acids of krill meal was as follow. The compositions of fatty acid were saturated fatty (SFA) acid 41.41%, monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) 21.69%, polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) 36.89%, and p/s ratio was 0.89. The major fatty acids in all parts were eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 21.54%), palmitic acid (27.51%), oleic acid (13.35%) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 12.42%). Especially, EPA and DHA were occupied 33.96% of polyunsaturated fatty acid. The mineral contents of krill meal were calcium 24477.21 mg $kg^{-1}$, sodium 14728.69 mg $kg^{-1}$, magnesium 6973.49 mg $kg^{-1}$, potassium 3981.67 mg $kg^{-1}$, iron 395.33 mg $kg^{-1}$ and manganese 5.74 mg $kg^{-1}$. The contents of major vitamin were retinol 86717.37 ${\mu}g$ RE, ${\beta}$-carotene 44.87 ${\mu}g$ RE, tocopherol 2.60 mg, pantothenic acid 1.61 mg, indicating that krill meal contains large amount of retinol and ${\beta}$-carotene.
