  • The purpose of this study was to explain the performance pattern of health education and related factors in elementary school. The data were collected from school nurses who have been working elementary school. Sample of 77 were analyzed by percent distribution, ${\chi}^2$-test, discriminant analysis. The performance rates of health education was 74%, Only 19% of total carried out health education of 6 hours per week. Important variables that was showed significant association with health education level were as follows: Perception of importance about health education among personal characteristics of school nurses and size of school c1ass, cooperation level of school administrator, operation method of school health clinic, the difficulty of school health clinic among school organization characteristics. The canonical correlation between the health education (yes or no) and important independent variables was 0.52. Among them, operation method of school health clinic. perceiveness of health education, size of school class represented the significant contribution (canonical coefficient: 0.66, 0.54, 0.52) to school health education. These findings suggest that structure and management variables of school organization are more important than personal variables of school nurses related to activation of school health education. Therefore, it is expected that the quantity and quality improvement of school health education be able to accomplish through the systematic support of school organization and government demension.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate liver function test results in admitted patients before and after herbal treatment. Methods: 54 subjects admitted to hospital had liver function tests (aspartate aminotransferase, alanine amino transferase, alkaline phosphatase, total bilirubin) before and after herbal treatment from 1 March 2017 to 30 June 2019. Results: Aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatase were not significantly changed (p>0.05). On admission, 11 patients had abnormal liver function, while seven patients had abnormal results in alkaline phosphatase upon discharge. Three of the seven were normal when they were hospitalized. Conclusions: This study suggests that herbal treatment may have no effect on liver injury.

  • Korean secondary school students (n=263) responded to surveys measuring their family contexts and school adjustment during the time period August-September 2004. Structure Equation Modeling tests were conducted to identify the nested model on school adjustment, a latent variable constructed with peer relations, teacher-adolescent relations, and academic attitude. In the nested model, parental involvement was a powerful predictor for school adjustment. Family conflict had a negative impact on school adjustment and was statistically significantly when correlated with the other predictors in the model. These finding suggested that family contexts play an important role in Korean adolescents' school adjustment. Hence, adolescents' perceived GPA level and satisfaction for school were important predictors for school adjustment.

Methods : The survey was conducted through the questionnaire with school nurses and students. Subjects were 60 school nurse and 1483 elementary school children. Data was collected based on the from Mar to Apr. 2004. Finally, data was analyzed using mean, SD, and t-test. Results : The students need the health education related safety, oral hygiene, visual promotion, scoliosis prevention, cyber addiction prevention, anti-bullying and school violence prevention. School nurses suggest the contents of health education such as sex education, drug misuse and overuse prevention. There was also a difference in the need of health education among the school nurse and students. • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating role of school adjustment in the relationship between adolescents' mastery goal orientation and life satisfaction, and the differences according to gender in the relationship. Methods: The participants were 1,947 students from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th waves of the Korean Child Youth Panel Study(KCYPS). The data were analyzed with structural equation modeling(SEM) and multiple group analysis. Results: First, school adjustment of 1st graders in middle school mediated the relation between mastery goal orientation of 6th graders in elementary school and life satisfaction of 2nd graders in middle school. Second, the differences in gender were confirmed. The effect of mastery goal orientation of 6th graders in elementary school on school adjustment of 1st graders in middle school is higher for boys. In contrast, the effect of school adjustment of 1st graders in middle school on life satisfaction of 2nd graders in middle school is higher for girls. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study suggested that mastery goal orientation before entering middle school and school adjustment after entering middle school could be important variables to increase adolescents' life satisfaction. Also, it is necessary to consider gender difference for long-term intervention for improving adolescent life satisfaction.

  • This study examined the mediating effect of children's school adjustment on the relationship between a creative school environment and children's happiness. For this purpose, an analysis was performed of data from the 12th Panel Study on Korean Children conducted in 2019. The participants were 1,393 fifth-grade elementary school students. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs. The principal results were as follows. Firstly, there were significant positive correlations among creative school environment, children's school adjustment, and happiness. Secondly, the creative school environment significantly affected children's school adjustment and happiness. Thirdly, children's school adjustment had a positive effect on their happiness. Fourthly, the creative school environment had an indirect effect on children's happiness through school adjustment. The results thus demonstrate that school is a social environment that strongly influences children's happiness. Therefore, to improve children's school happiness, it is essential to consider the relationship between a creative school environment and school adjustment.
