During the last two decades, impact factor has been widely used as a journal evaluation metric that differentiates the influence of a specific journal compared with other journals. However, impact factor does not provide a reliable metric between journals in different subject categories. For example, higher impact factors are given to biology and general sciences than those assigned to other traditional engineering and social sciences. This study initially analyzes the trend of the time series of the impact factors of the journals listed in Journal Citation Reports during the last decade. This study then proposes new journal evaluation metrics that adjust the impact factors across different subject categories. The proposed metrics possibly provides a consistent measure to mitigate the differences in impact factors among subject categories. On the basis of experimental results, we recommend the most reliable and appropriate metric to evaluate journals that are less dependent on the characteristics of subject categories.

Currently, despite the quantitative growth of domestic journal, objective and metric criterion to evaluate the contents and quality of those journals is inadequate. As a result, depending on a foreign citation index like SCI to evaluate the research result is causing some problems such as, thesis of an excellent standard being presented and published in foreign countries, thus, neglecting journals written in Korean. Hereat, the Korea Citation Index(KCI) is constructing a database of the journals published by academic associations; scientific paper information, articles information, and bibliographic, analyzing the quoting relation. Consequently, KCI is providing the basic information and the corresponding quoting relations of journals and papers on its webpage. This study compares the impact level of domestic accounting related journals by KCI and analyzes the network among journals using the cross-citation frequency from a social network analysis point of view. As a result, Accounting-related journals are now more desirable than the location in order to have a variety of interdisciplinary research needs to be encouraged. Through this exchange of other disciplines and actively made, which is the phase of apparent accounting-related journals expect to be greatly enhanced looks.

The purpose of this study was twofold: 1) to analyze the impact factor of clothing and textile-related journals by utilizing the average number of cross-citation that evaluates the relative importance of an academic journal and 2) to provide a list of journals with higher impact factor by analyzing closeness and betweenness among individual journals through graph networks. To fulfill this, a total of 10 clothing and textile-related journals, which are accredited by National Research Foundation of Korea, were analyzed. For analysis of the average number of cross-citation, the targeted research papers were limited to those published between 2008 and 2011 and they were derived from the Korea Citation Index. The software used for network analysis was R ver. 2.15. The results of the study were as follow: First, 'The Korean Society of Knit Design' was indicated as the highest rate of self-citation, followed by 'Journal of the Korean Fashion & Costume Design Association.' Secondly, the average impact power of clothing & textile-related journals was relatively lower (0.681) compared to that (1.00) of 23 journals under the human ecology discipline. 'Korean Journal of Human Ecology' was found to have impact factor of 1.24, which was higher than the average impact factor of human ecology-related journals. Lastly, together with 'Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles.'

With the development of electronic journals and the emergence of various interdisciplinary studies, the selection of journals for publication has become a new challenge for researchers. Even if a paper is of high quality, it may face rejection due to a mismatch between the paper's topic and the scope of the journal. While research on assisting researchers in journal selection has been actively conducted in English, the same cannot be said for Korean journals. In this study, we propose a system that recommends Korean journals for submission. Firstly, we utilize SBERT (Sentence BERT) to embed abstracts of previously published papers at the document level, compare the similarity between new documents and published papers, and recommend journals accordingly. Next, the order of recommended journals is determined by considering the similarity of abstracts, keywords, and title. Subsequently, journals that are similar to the top recommended journal from previous stage are added by using a dictionary of words constructed for each journal, thereby enhancing recommendation diversity. The recommendation system, built using this approach, achieved a Top-10 accuracy level of 76.6%, and the validity of the recommendation results was confirmed through user feedback. Furthermore, it was found that each step of the proposed framework contributes to improving recommendation accuracy. This study provides a new approach to recommending academic journals in the Korean language, which has not been actively studied before, and it has also practical implications as the proposed framework can be easily applied to services.

This study aims to develop a checklist that could identify the characteristics of predatory journals suspected of being poorly operated from the time of submission to publication. Accordingly 17 checklist questions were developed based on 3 priorities through overseas case studies and expert opinions. To verify the developed checklist, 100 journals included in Beall's list were randomly extracted and analyzed. As a result, 96 journals had features that were suspected to be questionable, there were not found in the 4 journals. A further case study and follow-up study of journals published in a broader field of research will require continued revision and supplementation of the 17 questions developed in this study.

The authority and reputation of a medical journal is based on the number of received citations. Korean Medical Citation Index [KoMCI] provides information about citations of Korean medical journals since 2002. All six issues of KoMCI [from 2000 to 2005] were used for analysis. Citations, impact factor, and their changes were evaluated. We compared the data of Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society[JKNS] with other Korean medical journals. The impact factor[IF] of 2005 maintained increased value since 2004, although the impact factor excluding self citation[ZIF] returned previous low value. Improvement in proportion of Korean citations and in proportions of non-self received citations were encouraging changes. Although there were some improvements, the status of JKNS with respect to ZIF is still behind other Korean medical journals selected for comparison. Improvement of the status of JKNS by aid of KoMCI and enhanced reputation of KoMCI by its positive influence on JKNS or other Korean medical journals will be beneficial to members and medical societies of Korea.

This paper proposes the newly developed a classification scheme for Management of Technology (MOT) research, by analyzing research papers published in major academic journals of MOT. To refine our proposed classification, we conducted a contents analysis after collecting 696 papers published in 11 major international journals and 2 representative domestic journals including Journal of Korean Technology Innovation Society, from 2006 to 2012. Our findings show that this classification scheme is composed of total 8 methodologies within each research design such as conceptual qualitative, empirical qualitative, conceptual quantitative, and conceptual quantitative researches. In addition, we provide research reviews based on characteristics between 1) domestic and foreign researchers, 2) domestic and international journals, and 3) different major domestic journals as follows. Firstly, the underlying trends of research design and methodologies in MOT research are concentrated in empirical studies regardless of the origin of researchers and journals. However, the proportion of theoretical discussion in the international journals is higher than that of theoretical discussion in the domestic journals. Secondly, there are many more empirical qualitative researches and archival researches written in the Journal of Korean Technology Innovation Society, whereas the proportion of empirical quantitative research and conceptual research published in the Journal of Technology Innovation is higher than that. From the results, this paper will contribute to choosing research designs and methodologies more suitable to research purpose for future MOT researchers and provide the direction for concrete systematic approach on research designs and methodologies.

Objectives : This study investigated the effects of teaching English medical journals to traditional Korean medical students as a way of integrated curriculum, focusing on evidence-based traditional Korean medicine (EBKM) in the light of globalization of traditional Korean Medicine. Methods : 232 students (l16 1st year and t 16 2nd year) were asked to complete a questionnaire at the end of the course in order to validate the course's efficacy on acquisition and utilization of the latest medical knowledge as well as change of attitude toward English itself. Results : The courses were very useful in reducing discomfort toward English journals and to applying the latest medical knowledge to academic reports, clinical practices, and finally to establish abilities for EBKM. The 1st year students who took the courses for two semesters consecutively showed more significant satisfaction than the 2nd year students with only one semester. Conclusion : The findings suggest that English medical journals are an essential curriculum f3r the advance of EBKM and globalization of traditional Korean Medicine and therefore developing adequate textbooks, teaching methods, and quality of instructors should be considered for successful achievements.

The purpose of this study is to enable a scientific and rational approach for future research agenda setting in the clothing construction field. Through analysis of research papers on clothing construction published in domestic academic journals during the recent decade, the research trend of clothing construction in respective academic journals, research subjects, and research contents were grasped thoroughly. From all domestic academic associations' publication on garment/clothing and textiles/fashion, 7 academic journals were selected as subjects of research, in order to compare and analyze the research trend in the last ten years. The ten-year period ranged from April 2006 to March 2016, and a total of 735 papers published on clothing construction were used for analysis. The number of publications in the clothing construction area during the last decade has decreased, which is due to the increase in the number of clothing and textiles fashion-related academic journals, other than the 7 journals analyzed, and since the number of papers published in international academic journals has also increased. Body type, patterns, fitting test, and functional clothing accounted for the highest proportion of research themes in clothing construction. In terms of body type, there was an increasing tendency towards usage of 3D body measurement. In the patterns area, the 3D virtual dressing system was actively used. For functional clothing, sportswear, protective clothes, and innerwear were most widely researched, and ergonomic design together with smartwear was actively studied.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to analyze cancer research trends in traditional Korean medical journals indexed in the Korea Citation Index since 2000. Methods: Cancer research papers published in traditional Korean medical journals were searched in databases from inception to October 2022. The numbers of publications by journal and by year were descriptively assessed. After natural language processing, topic modeling (based on Latent Dirichlet allocation) and keyword network analysis were conducted. Results: This research trend analysis involved 1,265 papers. Six topics were identified by topic modeling: case reports on symptom management, literature reviews, experiments on apoptosis, herbal extract treatments of breast carcinoma cell lines, anti-proliferative effects of herbal extracts, and anti-tumor effects. Keyword network analysis found that the effects of herbal medicine were assessed in clinical and experimental studies, while acupuncture was mainly mentioned in clinical reports. Conclusions: Cancer research papers in traditional Korean medical journals have contributed to evidence-based medicine. Further experimental studies are needed to elucidate the effects of on different hallmarks of cancer. Rigorous clinical studies are needed to support clinical guidelines.
