This study was based on the analysis of earth and environmental science items in PISA 2000 data. The purpose of this study was to identify i) gender differences in scientific literacy, ii) item characteristics that favored either female or male, and iii) misconceptions that 15-years-old Korean students have in the field of earth and environmental science. The results revealed significant gender differences. Overall, male students demonstrated higher level of achievement than female students. On the other hand, amongst high ability students, female students outperformed male students in open-constructed items. Female students tended to score higher on items that required long answers or items related to scientific processes, whereas male students outperformed female students in science knowledge or items that required data interpretation. The study also revealed that a majority of Korean students had misconceptions in fundamental earth and environmental science knowledge, such as the direction of earth's axis and equator, and the causes of Greenhouse Effect.

In search of the improvement plan for elementary schools which aims at the efficient application of new educational programs according to the introduction of the 7th National Curriculum, the analysis results for the spatial configuration regarding the modernized elementary schools in Busan City are as follows: 1) The analysis of expansion in the building area reveals that the building area per classroom has been increased from $200m^2$ in 1995 to $350m^2$ in 2005 based on the data gathered from the constructed schools during that period. 2) While the ratio of classrooms per the gross school area has been decreased from 35% in the late 1990s to 20% in the 2000s, the entire school size continue to become larger, which is considered as desirable change. 3) New construction and addition of special classrooms and multi-purpose spaces have continued to be increased. Multi-purpose spaces were positively considered in the early 2000s, but recently built schools tend to limit the construction of multi-purpose spaces only to lower grades' space or not to obtain them owing to the analysis that its utilization is limited. 4) Most schools constructed after 1999 are equipped with dining hall and multi-purpose halls, and show the increase in their sizes. Especially, dining hall tend to be located on the upper floors for better environmental conditions.
Primary responsibility for the health of the school-age child rests with the parents, but the school should assist the parents in establishing and maintaining the highest possible level of health in each child. The important part of school health program is health education. All kinds of testbooks for elementary school were newly developed from 1982 for the 1st to 3rd grader and from 1983 for the 4th to 6th grader. The purposes of this study were to analyse the newly developed health curriculum in elementary school and to point out the errors in contents or terminology. Data were collected from all kinds of textbooks for elementary school which have been using in 1983. On the bases of these data, the following findings were observed: 1) 22.4 percents of total pages which related to health were from athletic subject. 2) Almost 29 percents of learning experiences suggested from textbooks were explanation and teach-centered. 3) The main subjects of health related contents were preventional management and environmental health. 4) 22 errors were found out, they were 12 for contents itself correction, 6 for terminology correction, 3 for lack of explanation and 1 for expurgation.
Value objectives have been relatively neglected in geography education. Then in this study I reviewed some value objectives and their contents which have been discussed in geographic education and curriculum in secondary education. Value objectives which are reviewed in geographic education, are regional consciousness, loving home country and nation, international understanding and citizenship, art of landscape, natural and environmental beauty, and human right. But values objectives in geography curriculum are included value incalculation: national development, participation in economic development, etc.. Namely development education is more emphasized than individual life and experience in geographic education. Value objectives should be on the basis of social education and citizenship education for geographic education. Futhermore, it is required to develop teaching methods which help student's socialization and social competence through geography education focused on value objectives and their content.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the situations and satisfaction of fashion design education in Busan, and the way to promote it. Data were collected from 192 college(university) students and 185 vocational students living in Busan and analysed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach's $\alpha$, multiple regression, and t-test. The results are as follow; 1. Factor analysis has extracted three factors: environmental factors, student factors and quality of education factors. 2. The biggest factor that affects the satisfaction level of the education fumed out to be the student factors, followed by the environmental factors. 3. Demonstrated that vocational students were more satisfied with their education and had a higher degree of pride and confidence in their educational factors and level of satisfaction than college(university) students. In conclusion, we must encourage the industrial-educational corporation to promote the practicality of the fashion design education system and make diversification and specialization of the curriculum of fashion design education to cultivate students of talent.
Review of the global change in various energy usages and resulting environmental impacts were made in terms of population increase, economic development and energy consumption. Greater use of fossil fuels in past couple of centuries give rise to acid rain and gradual climate changes mainly due to Green House inducing gases emissions from fossil fuel combustion. In view of the forthcoming Kyoto conference in December, various alternative options were assessed. To cope with rapidly developing robust Korean economy, the alternative energy options for the sustainable development in 21st Century would be the wider use of Nuclear Energy in parallel with constrained use of fossil fuel and renewable energy development. However there are many hurdles to overcome. One of the most important element is to improve public acceptability of those alternatives. Since public acceptance depend heavily upon individual perception on specific energy technology applications, the basic energy technologies education from primary up to high school education and the related curriculum organization is important. The suggested improvement in education for Nuclear Energy Application was made on the basis of advanced industrial countries with substantial Nuclear Energy Application programs.
The purpose of this study is to enhance elementary students' awareness of environment-friendly life and help them to prepare for a better life in the future. To achieve this purpose we examined the effect typical environmental experience-based learning activities, which were based on the local circumstances with high environmental-educational potential, have on the attitudes toward environment-friendly life. This study was carried out on the basis of typical environmental experience-based learning in the small class size. The research group used was composed of one sixth grade elementary school class called Sangroksu, whose total students were 9. The research period lasted from March 2005 to February 2006. To analyze the result of this study, two research methods were applied simultaneously : quantitative research methods and qualitative research methods. Especially statistical analysis in quantitative research methods by self-administrated questionnaire was done with SAS program. Qualitative research methods were analyzed in a cyclic pattern, including the processes of domain analysis, classification analysis, and factor analysis which continued to be associated with data-collecting methods. This research shows the following results. First of all, students have shown meaningful differences after typical environmental experience-based learning activities.(p<.05). Followings are fields of the differences - students‘ interest on the subject, their understanding levels of necessity for basic environmental facilities around us as well as for the kinds of environmental experience-based learning, awareness levels of various environmental problems, consciousness on environment conservation, and the practicing ability of environment - friendly lifestyles. Secondly, We have discovered improvements in the following fields after this study - the knowledge and understanding levels on our environment and human relationships, students' fundamental abilities to work out environmental problems, right ideas and appropriate attitudes on environment protection, the practicing ability of environment-friendly life styles, and their parents' understanding levels on the education related to environment. In conclusion, typical environmental experience-based learning activities have a positive effect on the improvement of elementary school students' environment-friendly life styles.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop and examine the effects of a prenatal program on environmental health behavior using cartoon comics among Korean pregnant women. Methods: This study used a non-equivalent control group pre-test/post-test design. The program used cartoon comics to explore environmental health behaviors during pregnancy. The program consisted of the following four components: environmental toxicants during pregnancy, avoiding particulate matter during pregnancy, environmental toxicants during baby care, and making a healthy environment for children. In total, 35 pregnant women participated in the study: 18 in the experimental group and 17 in the control group. Data collection and program adaptation were conducted between November 3, 2020 and January 19, 2021. The effect of the prenatal education program was evaluated by t-test and repeated measures ANOVA. Results: Learning experience (t = - 2.35, p = .025), feasibility (t = - 2.46, p = .019), satisfaction (t = - 2.23, p = .032) were higher in the experimental group than in the control group in the first post-test. Feasibility (t = - 2.40, p = .022) was higher in the experimental group than in the control group in the second post-test. Repeated-measures ANOVA showed significant interactions between time and group in environmental susceptibility (F = 9.31, p < .001), self-efficacy (F = 3.60, p = .033), and community behavior (F = 5.41, p = .007). Conclusion: This study demonstrates the need for a prenatal education program to promote environmental health perceptions and behavior during pregnancy. We suggest a prenatal class adopting the creative cartoon comics to promote the maternal environmental health behaviors.
This thesis examined and analyzed the occupational status of the promising occupations in the environmental industry. A study on the status of the occupations in the environmental industry is very necessary for planning policies and improving occupations in the environmental industry. Studies and discussions regarding the status of the occupations in the environmental industry, however, were extremely insufficient. A survey of the employees in the environmental industry was conducted in order to certainly comprehend the status of the occupations, educational and training programs, and occupational changes and to utilize the result of the survey as foundational data necessary for occupational studies in the environmental industry. The subject of the survey was limited to the employees who had work for one or more years in twenty promising occupations in the environmental industry. The content of the survey was occupational performance competencies, occupational careers, the degree of occupational satisfaction, vocational education and training, working conditions, occupational changes, and the security of the human resources. Dissimilarities as well as similarities among twenty promising occupations were discovered according to the analysis result of the occupations in the environmental industry. A major discovery was that there are lots of difficulties in securing environment-related human resources. Primary reasons for the difficulties were inconsistent working conditions and the shortage of the qualified human resources. To solve the difficulties in securing the human resources, the curriculum of the educational and the training institutes should be innovated and the human resources from the institutes could be applied to the workplace directly after the graduation.
This study was designed to develop a conceptual framework for the curriculum and develop the details of the learning content for the education of Community Health Practitioners (CHPs). Since education programs for CHPs started 10 years ago, concepts related to CHP services have changed because of changes in society. The objectives of the study were as follows : 1) to analyse the usefulness of the present education program for CHPs, 2) to analyse the Job performance and self -confidence of the CHPs, 3) to identify the health needs of the clients served by the CHPs and the community problems related to health. 4) to develop a conceptual framework for the curriculum, for the education of CHPs, 5) to develops details for the learning content of the education program for CHPs. Phase I of the study was conducted by questionnaires to 150 CHPs who have worked in remote rural areas for more than 2 years. Among them, 147 responded. Data was collected from August 16, to August 25, 1990. In order to identify the health needs of the community people, research within the last five years was reviewed and analyzed. The data on 1, 842 communities gathered by the WHO Nursing Collaborations Center of the College of Nursing, Yonsei University was utilized to identify community problems related to health and the self - confidence in job performance of the CHPs. Psase II of the study consisted of a workshop with 13 professionals including Community Health Practitioners to evaluate the existing education program and a conceptual framework of the curriculum for the job education of CHPs. The results of the study are Summariged below : 1. The only 26 among 45 content items of the education program related to job skills was used by 80% of the responding CHPs. The knowledge of $\ulcorner$Networking community organization$\lrcorner$ was used by only 53.7% of the respondents. Educational content about $\ulcorner$Mental disease$\lrcorner$ was used by less than 50% of CHPs because of a knowledge deficit. 2. The CHPs reported that their activities concentrated on clinical services during the last six months. The survey showed that they seemed to neglect the activities for health promotion and disease prevention. Thus, $\ulcorner$Education for community loaders$\lrcorner$(15.9%), $\ulcorner$Activity for eavironmental health$\lrcorner$(16.3%) and $\ulcorner$Social work for needey people$\lrcorner$(23.3%) were done by less than 30% of CHPs. 3. More than 90% of CHPs reported being self - confident for the activities of $\ulcorner$Health education and counselling$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$Medicine prescription$\lrcorner$ and $\ulcorner$Immunization$\lrcorner$. But 50% of CHPs reported that they were not have self - confident in $\ulcorner$Management of water and environmental health$\lrcorner$ and only 25.6% of CHPs could insert an IUD independently. 4. It was identified that respiratory diseases and the gastrointestinal diseases were most common problems for the community people, followed by musculoskeletal and skin problems. 5. The community problems were classified into eight categories : physical environmental problems, environmental hygiene, health problems, health behavior, social problem, lack of resources, financial problem and the problems of the cultural and value system. 6. The conceptual framework consisted of the target population and their health status, nursing process working site and primary health care services such as health promotion, disease prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. 7. The contents of curriculum of education program for CHPs were formulated from the results of this study.
