Previously the dog had been presented to a local animal clinic. Orthopedic and blood examinations were conducted. There was absent response of conscious proprioception on the right tarsocrural articulation. The dog stood knuckled onto the digits and had hock dropped but showed normal values in WBC, RBC, Hb, PCV, BUN, creatine, glucose, cholesterol, AST and ALT analyses. The dog was anesthetized and prepared for aseptic surgery. Steinmann pin and Joshi external fixators were applied(bilaterally). 11 weeks after the operation, the external fixators were removed from the bones. • A 9-month-old, female, mixed-breed dog was presented with dyspnea, exercise intolerance and a left apical heart murmur. Echocardiography revealed mitral systolic regurgitant flow by morphological abnormalities of the mitral apparatus including dilated annulus, excessively asymmetric mitral leaflets, short and stout chordae tendinae, and atrophic papillary muscles. The dog was diagnosed with congenital mitral dysplasia based on the echocardiographic features. Two months later, the dog died and the echocardiographic findings were confirmed by necropsy. This case report describes the echocardiographic features of mitral dysplasia with papillary muscle atrophy, and compares the gross necropsy findings in a dog.

  • We performed post-operative hemodynamic evaluation and lung perfusion scan after left lung transplantation in dog. The heart & lungs were extracted from donor dog while the both lungs were flushed with 4oC Euro-Collin`s solution after heparinization & infusion of prostaglandin E1.In the recipient dog, anastomosis of the left atrial cuff was performed by continuous 4-0 Prolene everted suture, and bronchial anastomosis by telescope method with 4-0 Prolene continuous suture. The end-to-end anastomosis of left main pulmonary arteries was performed with continuous 6-0 Prolene suture. After closure of left thoracotomy incision, the lung perfusion scan was performed post operative 2 days for evaluation of the function of the transplanted lung which showed good perfusion. The dog was sacrificed in the post-operative 5 days for autopsy.

  • Purpose: This study introduces the production process of dog's dental prosthesis using an automated dental prosthetics technology. The occlusal interaction of dog's dental prosthesis was observed. Methods: This study was proceeded with dog's the mandibular first molar teeth. The 3D CAD designed to 3D model specimens was observed by CAD software. and The specimens designed to 3D model specimens was observed occlusal interaction by using articulator. Results: Occlusal contact point in prosthetic specimens were observed in buccal surface. and 98% of the size of the crown is the best occlusal relationship. Conclusion: Observation of occlusal relations result to 98% of the size of the crown is the best.

  • A four-year-old intact female poodle was referred with a history of ocular discharge and corneal ulcer to Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Seoul National University. The dog was diagnosed severe keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye) on bilateral eye. As the dog was not response to the ophthalmic medication, acupuncture treatment was applied to the dog. After 2 months from treatment, the dog was completely recovered from keratoconjunctivitis sicca. It is suggested that traditional veterinary medicine might be effective alternative therapy for the patient with keratoconjunctivitis sicca.

  • A female 8-year-old Pug weighing 7.3 kg and a female 10-year-old Maltese dog weighing 3.5 kg showing anorexia and vomiting for a few weeks were referred to Veterinary Medical leaching Hospital, Seoul National University. Radiographic findings were an enlarged right kidney in a pug dog and a radiopaque material on the right ureteral region lateral to the third lumbar vertebrae with indefinite right kidney contour in a Maltese dog, repectively. Excretory urography performed in a Pug dog revealed a poor opacified enlarged right kidney with absent of pelvic recesses and pelvic dilation with proximal ureteral dilation on contralateral kidney. Ultrasonographic findings were enlarged kidney with dilated pelvis and echogenic sediment within the medulla in both dogs and especially an engorged proximal ureter and a thin rim of functional renal tissue remains in a Maltese dog. Those diagnostic findings indicated high possibility of pyelonephritis and these were confirmed by pathologic examination. Radiography and ultrasonography, although not giving final diagnosis for pyelonephritis, are useful for assessment and diagnosis of pyelonephritis.
