Data were collected in Sep 2013 and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis. Results: Total number of handwashing times was 7.5 per day. 65.1% of the students used soap and most of the students washed their hands for 20 seconds(31.1%). Self-evaluation, awareness of effect for prevention of infectious disease, and need for handwashing education were positive, but evaluation of toilet environment was negative. Most of the students washed their hands for 21 seconds(%), and methods of handwashing were not appropriate. Level of awareness was over 85% in most items. • Objectives : This study is to research on usage patterns, recognition of system to Korean medicine among high school students who are the potential future medical consumer. Methods : Based on the questionnaire used by KIHASA(Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs) in 2011 and KHIDI(Korea Health Industry Development Institute) in 2014, modifications were made to make questionnaire more suitable for this research. This self-administered questionnaire was conducted among 1,025 highschool students of 3 high schools in Ulsan city on september, 2015. Except 19 cases which considered statistically insignificant or with unreliable responses, 1,007 cases were analyzed by p-paired test and ANOVA test through the SPSS 22.0 for Win program. Results : Most of the high school students(66.5%) do not have an experience on Korean medical care. The number of students' first experience on Korean medical care is the largest during their elementary school (34.9%), which means the treatment was mostly for restorative reasons like growth care. The later the time of their first experience on Korean medical care, the higher ratio was shown on their recent utilization of Korean medical care. Korean medicine was rarely covered in most cases of public health education at school, and this public health education and usage pattern on Korean medicine have positive correlation. Compared 'Group who have used Korean medical care in 1 years except recent 3 months' to the 'Group who have used Korean medical care in 3 recent months', the former showed higher recognition in Korean medical care and insurance system. Conclusions : The proportion of Korean medicine is as low as 4.5% to whole medical market, and most of the consumers are senior. In addition, the aging phenomenon of Korean medical consumer have been continued. This specialized study on usage patterns and recognition among youth can be the basic research data which can be used for promotion, education and establishment of health policy and health care system.

We selected 200 students from the three high schools in Taejon, and surveyed with a questionnaire and collected data concerning physique from school health records. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1. A point of intersection of two development trends of male and female students' heights was between sixth grade of elementary school and first grade of middle school. Two development trends of weights didn't have a point of intersection and male students' development trend of weights was a little higher than that of female students. 2. There were significant differences in the weight and BMI of male students. The 'regular dining' group had heavier weight and higher BMI than the other group, and the 'Eating only favorite food' group had lower weight and BMI than the other group. In female, heights of 'three meals a day' group were higher than that of 'two meals a day' group and the more snacks per day, the higher students' height was. 3. The 'regular exercise' group had significantly heavier weight and higher BMI than the other group amount females. 4. 'Regular dining' and 'Eating habits' had a positive linear relationship with male students' weight and BMI. 'Number of times of snacking' has a positive linear relationships with female students' height and a negative linear relationship with female students' BMI. • Including the research in the medical curriculum is regarded as an important issue for medical education. Research experience at medical school has a positive impact on students and it motivates them to undertake further research in the future. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors to activate the research of medical school students. We investigated students' perception of the research curriculum in medical school. The survey for this study was conducted among 41 targeted medical school students from across the Republic of Korea. A total of 370 students from 26 medical schools responded. Benefits through research activities were to study about the areas of interest, as researchers had the opportunity to interact with professors and career. Students, furthermore, had difficulties in research due to data collection, the lack of research space and research funding. Requirements to activate the research were the time to participate in research activities, opening regular research courses, preparation of practical research program and motivation for such research. The medical school would need to improve the medical curriculum through the analysis of the environment and situation the school is facing based upon the in-depth analysis results of what the medical school is pursuing through the research activities, what the students want, what the potential difficulties are, and what the requirements are to improve the research curriculum.

  • The clinical clerkship focuses students on developing their ability to perform comprehensive diagnosis and management of patients with common undifferentiated problems by the integration of knowledge and clinical reasoning. Therefore, the clerkship evaluation system should assess their actual problem solving and professional behavior. However, concern remains that clerkship evaluations are imprecise and highly variable. This review is designed to provide faculty members with concepts, options, and a methodology to actively teach and evaluate the clinical clerkship, as well as offer encouragement and inspiration to medical students. We reviewed past and current clinical clerkship evaluations and discuss several tips to improve clinical excellence such as continuity, transparency of the evaluation process, a faculty development program, practical examination of clinical skills, implementation of a checklist for recording exposure and skills, providing prompt and constructive feedback to students, self-evaluation of professional performance, varying multi-faceted assessment combinations, being outpatient clinic-centered, and having dedicated faculty members who give students one-on-one contact with a preceptor.

  • Women's educational opportunities have been increasing and women's general advancement in higher education is the underlying factor behind the increasing number of female students in medical school. A number of issues affect female students and residents, including the existence of gender bias and sexual harassment, higher stress levels and lower levels of work satisfaction, the lack of role models in academic medicine, and conflict between work and family roles, including challenges surrounding having children. To what extent female and male medical students and residents make different career and life style choices is also an important issue. The shortage of doctors in surgical departments and maldistribution among specialties are of great concern in the health care system and medicine's future. We must prepare to solve these problems. New medical policies and educational approaches are needed for the future.
