Purpose: The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of kinematics of lower extremities and trunk in stance phase of walking according to turning direction. Methods: Ten university students (five male, five female) who were in their 20s (mean age was 20.6 years old) participated in this study. Participants did not have participants did not have any problem with skeletal muscular system. We used the "Qualisys motion capture system" for analysis of trunk and lower extremity movement in stance phase of walking according to turning direction. We collected data while subjects walked a distance of 10 m, and at the 6 m line, subjects were required to turn to the left side and the right leg was positioned in stance phase and the left leg was positioned in swing. For data analysis, the SPSS for Windows ver. 20.0 statistics program was used in performance of one way analysis of variance according to turning direction. Results: Significant difference of trunk and lower extremities was observed for turning direction according to walking cycle (p<0.05). Upper trunk movement showed a greater increase at three dimensions than lower trunk, and in heel off phase, pelvic movement showed a greater increase than lower trunk (p<0.05). In 45 degree and 90 degrees of turning direction, all movements of trunk and lower extremities were significantly different among three events of stance phase (p<0.05). Conclusion: We suggest that three-dimensional movement analysis of trunk and lower extremities during turning movement was very important in order to indicate increasing balance or walking ability for people with impaired movement or walking.
We investigated perception and educational demand for health functional foods among nutrition teachers and dietitians working in schools. The subjects were 229 nutrition teachers (57.2%) and dietitians (42.7%) working in Chungbuk elementary, middle and high schools. Approximately 67% of the subjects had experience consuming health functional foods. Most of the subjects did not have experience with the side effects after consuming health functional foods. Subjects who were unaware of the legal specifications, classification, and labeling standards for health functional foods (78-91.2%) were much more common than those who were aware of those issues. Most of the subjects perceived health functional foods as a food (45.0%) or as a product between a food and a medicine (44.5%). The subjects recommended themselves (43.1%) or medical doctors/pharmacists (40.8%) as consultation/education specialists for health functional foods. Approximately 66% of the subjects had experience conducting nutritional consultation/education in their schools, but only 3.2% had experience with health functional foods. Only 17.8% of the subjects had experience receiving education on health functional foods. Most subjects (88.2%) demanded education on health functional foods for themselves. The results suggest that an effective education is needed for nutrition teachers and dietitians working in schools for them to play an active role in educating students and their parents about health functional foods in the near future.

In this study, human mimic phantoms outputted by three-dimensional (3D) printing technology are reported. Polylactic acid and a personal 3D printer - fused deposition modeling (FDM) - are used as the main material and the printing device. The output of human mimic phantoms performed in the following order: modeling, slicing and G-code conversion, output variable setting, 3D output, and post-processing. The students' learning satisfaction (anatomical awareness, study interest) was measured on 5-point Likert scale. After that, Twenty of those phantoms were outputted. The total output took 11,691 minutes (194 hours 85 minutes) and the average output took 584.55 minutes (9 hours 7 minutes). The filament used for the experiment was 2,390.2 g, and the average use of the filament was 119.51 g. The learning satisfaction of anatomical awareness was 4.6 points on the average and the interest of the class was on average 4.5 points. It is expecting that 3D printing technology can enhance the learning effect of imaging anatomy education.

Special care dentistry, also known as special needs dentistry, is concerned with the oral health of people who have intellectual disability, or who are affected by other medical, physical, or psychiatric issues. Dental schools must educate dental students for the competency in managing and treating individuals with special health care needs. The purpose of this study is to identify the current status of special care dentistry education in Korean dental schools. A questionnaire relating to the education of special care dentistry was sent to eleven dental schools in Korea via email. The result turned out that eight out of eleven schools had classroom teaching of special care dentistry, while only four had practical teaching programs. Nine schools had dental clinics for the disabled, in which two of them had special care clinics within the Pediatric dentistry clinic, and other seven in separate clinical sites. Despite the increased interest in special care dentistry, education including classroom teaching and practical teaching was still insufficient and needed more development. This study implicated a small but valuable understanding of special needs dentistry education in Korea.
A national animal health monitoring system(NAHMS) in Gyeongnam area was started from 1997 to develop statistically valid data for use in estimating disease frequencies in dairy cattle, and the associated costs. The objectives of this study were to : (1) discribe what was done to implement and maintain the system in Gyeongnam ; (2) present selected disease frequencies ; (3) discuss the epidemiological consideration of what was done and implications for the results obtained. Veterinary Medical Officers(VMOs-professors and graduate students from Gyeongsang National University, Faculty of Gyeongnam Livestock Promotion Institute, and Clinic veterinarians) served as data collectors. After training on current disease and management problems of dairy cattle, interview techniques, sampling methods, and data collection instruments, the VMOs participated in selection of the sample herds and data gathering. Forty of 167 dairy herds were selected randomly and the VMOs visited farms once a month for 12 months to collect data about management, disease, inventory, production, preventive treatment, financial and any other relevant data. Strict data quality control devices were used. Specific feed-back was developed for the producers and data collectors. Of the three age groups studied, cows had the greatest number of disease problems. The six disorders found most frequently were (from the highest to the lowest) breeding problems, clinical mastitis, birth problems, gastrointestinal problems. metabolic problems, and lameness. In young stock, respiratory, multiple system, breeding problems, and gastrointestinal problems were pre dominant, whereas in calves, gastrointestinal, respiratory, and integumental problems were major.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of transverse abdominal muscle contraction on pulmonary function in supine position. Methods : 10 female and 10 male college students were recruited this study. Pulmonary Function test was measured with QUARK SPIRO. To check the changes in lung function with transverse abdominal muscle contraction, we tested pulmonary function in the supine, with and without transverse abdominal muscle contraction. While the transverse abdominis was activating, we investigate in the change of forced expiration. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS Statistics VER.12.0 for window version p-values less than 0.05 were used to identify significant differences. Statistical analysis was used Paired t-test to know difference between activated and non-activated TrA of forced expiration. Results : The subject with transverse abdominal muscle contraction showed significant increments in variable of FVC, FEV1, PEF compared to the pre-intervention results (p<0.01). Conclusion : These results indicate that spontaneous contraction of the TrA helps pulmonary function. And the selective contraction of the transverse abdominis at the end of forced inspiration makes increases in the lung capacity.

Objective: To evaluate the relative importance of bilabial prominence in relation to other facial profile parameters in a normal population. Methods: Profile stimulus images of 38 individuals (28 female and 10 male; ages 19-25 years) were shown to an unrelated group of first-year students (n = 42; ages 18-24 years). The images were individually viewed on a 17-inch monitor. The observers received standardized instructions before viewing. A six-question questionnaire was completed using a Likert-type scale. The responses were analyzed by ordered logistic regression to identify associations between profile characteristics and observer preferences. The Bayesian Information Criterion was used to select variables that explained observer preferences most accurately. Results: Nasal, bilabial, and chin prominences; the nasofrontal angle; and lip curls had the greatest effect on overall profile attractiveness perceptions. The lip-chin-throat angle and upper lip curl had the greatest effect on forehead prominence perceptions. The bilabial prominence, nasolabial angle (particularly the lower component), and mentolabial angle had the greatest effect on nasal prominence perceptions. The bilabial prominence, nasolabial angle, chin prominence, and submental length had the greatest effect on lip prominence perceptions. The bilabial prominence, nasolabial angle, mentolabial angle, and submental length had the greatest effect on chin prominence perceptions. Conclusions: More prominent lips, within normal limits, may be considered more attractive in the profile view. Profile parameters have a greater influence on their neighboring aesthetic units but indirectly influence related profile parameters, endorsing the importance of achieving an aesthetic balance between relative prominences of all aesthetic units of the facial profile.

The effectiveness of medication video tapes in teaching fundamental nursing skills was investigated using experimental research methodology. Data was collected from 153 students attending fundamental nursing practice classes of two junior colleges and two universities. The subjects were randomly assigned to two groups, one was an experimental group of 74 subjects and the other was a control group of 79 subjects. The independent variable was learning type and the dependent variables were the degree of knowledge achievement and nursing skills achievement regarding medication. The research hypotheses of this study were as follows : 1) There will be a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the degree of knowledge achievement about medication. 2) There will be a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the nursing skills achievement about medication. The data was analyzed with the SPSSWIN program and the t-test, number of subjects and percentiles were then examined. The findings of this study are as follows : 1) There was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the knowledge achievement about medication using P<.05. 2) There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the nursing skill achievement about medication using P<.05. 3) This study suggests that medication video tapes in the education of fundamental nursing skills are effective for knowledge achievement. As a result, medication video tapes can be effectively utilized for the education of nursing skills regarding medication.

Today, as the number of applicants for admission decreases, competition among universities is deepening in Korea. Especially, the existence of local universities has led to intense competition to increase the enrollment rate of new students and reduce dropout rate. To survive in this competition, local universities are making various efforts; however, the primary problem is improving their educational service quality. In this study, we have developed a device to measure educational service quality which can be applied to the field of higher education, and factors that determine educational service quality are dragged through this device. In addition, this research identifies which statistically significant factors play a part in overall satisfaction and word of mouth effect, and interprets 29 quality attributes using importance-satisfaction transformed index.
