  • In this paper, we investigate a certain type of q-difference Riccati equation in the complex plane. We prove that q-difference Riccati equation possesses a one parameter family of meromorphic solutions if it has three distinct meromorphic solutions. Furthermore, we find that all meromorphic solutions of q-difference Riccati equation and corresponding second order linear q-difference equation can be expressed by q-gamma function if this q-difference Riccati equation admits two distinct rational solutions and $q{\in}{\mathbb{C}}$ such that 0 < ${\mid}q{\mid}$ < 1. The growth and value distribution of differences of meromorphic solutions of q-difference Riccati equation are also treated.

  • The blast load is classified into free-air blast and surface blast following the location of explosion and surface. In this paper, several equations for blast load calculation are explained briefly and a modified equation for free-air blast load is suggested. The modified equation is based on Kingery-Bulmash equation which is used in UFC 3-340-02 and Conwep model. In this modified equation, the process of calculation is simplified against the original equation, and the number of coefficients is reduced under 5. As a result, each parameter of estimated data by modified equation has less than 1% of error range comparing with Kingery-Bulmash equation.

  • In the theory of the conditional Wiener integral, the integrand is a functional of the standard Wiener process. In this paper we consider a conditional function space integral for functionals of more general stochastic process and the generalized Kac-Feynman integral equation. We first show that the existence of a partial differential equation. We then show that the generalized Kac-Feynman integral equation is equivalent to the partial differential equation.

  • In this paper, we present an efficient numerical method for multiphase image segmentation using a multiphase-field model. The method combines the vector-valued Allen-Cahn phase-field equation with initial data fitting terms containing prescribed interface width and fidelity constants. An efficient numerical solution is achieved using the recently developed hybrid operator splitting method for the vector-valued Allen-Cahn phase-field equation. We split the modified vector-valued Allen-Cahn equation into a nonlinear equation and a linear diffusion equation with a source term. The linear diffusion equation is discretized using an implicit scheme and the resulting implicit discrete system of equations is solved by a multigrid method. The nonlinear equation is solved semi-analytically using a closed-form solution. And by treating the source term of the linear diffusion equation explicitly, we solve the modified vector-valued Allen-Cahn equation in a decoupled way. By decoupling the governing equation, we can speed up the segmentation process with multiple phases. We perform some characteristic numerical experiments for multiphase image segmentation.

  • For general geometry of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), volumetric error equation including 21 systematic error components was showed using vector expression. Different types of CMM listed on an international standard (BS 6808) were classified according to their geometry, and the general volumetric error equation was used for the CMMs. Application of volumetric error equation was also introduced, such as position error compensation, error equation of CNC-machine and parametric error analysis, etc.

  • We prove the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the Davison functional equation f($\chi$y) + f($\chi$ + y) = f($\chi$y + $\chi$) + f(y) for a class of functions from a ring into a Banach space and we also investigate the Davison equation of Pexider type.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to avoid obstacles that have unstable limit cycles in a chaos trajectory surface. We assume all obstacles in the chaos trajectory surface have a Van der Pol equation with an unstable limit cycle. When a chaos UAVs meet an obstacle in an Arnold equation, Chua's equation and hyper-chaos equation trajectory the obstacle reflects the UAV( Unmanned Aerial Vehicle).

  • Let ℝ be the set of real numbers, f, g : ℝ → ℝ and ≥ 0. In this paper, we consider the stability of partially pexiderized exponential-radical functional equation $$f({\sqrt[n]{x^N+y^N}})=f(x)g(y)$$ for all x, y ∈ ℝ, i.e., we investigate the functional inequality $$\|f({\sqrt[n]{x^N+y^N}})-f(x)g(y)\|{\leq}{\epsilon}$$ for all x, y ∈ ℝ.

  • In dielectric waveguide analysis and synthesis, we often encounter an awkward task of solving the eigenvalue equation to find the value of propagation constant. Since the dispersion equation is an irrational equation, we cannot solve it directly. Taking advantage of approximated calculation, we attempt here to solve this irrational dispersion equation. A new type of eigenvalue equation, in which guide index is expressed as a function of frequency, has been developed. In practical optical waveguide designing and in calculating the propagation mode, this equation will be used more conveniently than the previous one. To expedite the design of the waveguide, we then solve the eigenvalue equation of a slab waveguide, which is sufficiently accurate for practical purpose.

  • The problem of finding Cramer rule for solutions of some restricted linear equation Ax = b has been widely discussed. Recently Wang and Qiao consider the following more general problem AXB = D, $R(X){\subset}T$, $N(X){\supset}\tilde{S}$. They present the solution of above general restricted matrix equation by using generalized inverses and give an explicit expression for the elements of the solution matrix for the matrix equation. In this paper we re-consider the restricted matrix equation and give an equivalent matrix equation to it. Through the equivalent matrix equation, we derive condensed Cramer rule for above restricted matrix equation. As an application, condensed determinantal expressions for $A_{T,S}^{(2)}$ A and $AA_{T,S}^{(2)}$ are established. Based on above results, we present a method for computing the solution of a kind of restricted matrix equation.
