This study is to compare the main subjects of domestic and foreign knowledge management research in terms of keywords and to clarify whether domestic knowledge management research reflects research trends in overseas knowledge management research. Specifically, we try to find out whether the central activities such as knowledge sharing, knowledge generation, and acquisition, which are knowledge management activities of knowledge management research, are being studied without bias. In order to analyze this, we analyzed the data of domestic and foreign knowledge management research for the last 5 years from 2012 to 2016. In Korea, the Knowledge Management Society of Korea collected 167 papers and 787 keywords, and collected 132 papers and 640 keywords from the Korea Society of Management Information Systems in order to distinguish the research areas. Overseas papers collected 315 papers and 1,746 keywords published by Emerald. Also, we collected 382 papers and 1,633 keywords in the Korean Management Review and collected 646 papers and 2,879 keywords in the Korean Business Education Review. Frequency analysis and network analysis of 1,642 papers and 7,685 keywords are summarized as follows. The Knowledge Management Society of Korea has focused on knowledge sharing, and in 2016, interest in knowledge transfer and knowledge search has shifted. The Journal of Knowledge Management, which is published by Emerald, has been a major concern for knowledge transfer and knowledge sharing. The research trends of the Korea Society of Management Information Systems to distinguish a clear identity of knowledge management research are focusing on smart area and mobile domain such as information security domain, cloud, smart phone, and smart work. In the Korea Society of Management Information Systems research, the main subject of knowledge sharing is also commonly found.

Today, knowledge is considered the most strategically important resource. As research in knowledge management advances, it ought to review and categorize the already published literatures on knowledge management in the area of business strategy, accounting/finance, human resource management and management information technology. To identify the knowledge management research trend, we analyze 168 articles published in prominent academic journal during last two decades. This paper develops three stages model for knowledge management research: observation, initiation and evolution stage. Also, we classify the given researches according to the three criteria of contents, related academic area and applied research method.

Knowledge Management System is defined as an Information system to support the integrated knowledge management process for maximizing value of the knowledge assets in organizations. From that point of view, the system performance - the usage level of the system and user satisfaction - can be an available measure of the knowledge management system success. Many previous research were focused on the application of a new technological component for knowledge management processes or the construction of the overall system architecture in spite of the importance of the system performance. The purpose of this study is to Identify the factors affecting the knowledge management system performance. To do this, we conducted an exploratory case studies of eight companies. We applied theories of information system success to knowledge management system and investigated some specific strategic components as additional affecting factors. Finally, we proposed research model and ex propositions regarding the factors affecting the knowledge management system performance. The implication of the findings and future research directions were discussed.

This paper presents a methodology how to utilize management of research scheduling plan, processing, and results using Web Knowledge Database System, which integrates research knowledge management model under the Research ＆ Development Environment. The content of this paper consists of description on utilization of the Web Knowledge Database System, sharing of the Research Knowledge through design data review, communications, and management of research knowledge flow during the Research ＆ Development Period.

Many organizations implement knowledge management initiates by developing knowledge management systems. This study aims at investigating knowledge sharing behaviors in a knowledge management system and identifying factors affecting such behaviors. To do this, we defined knowledge sharing behaviors in a knowledge management system as registration and view of knowledge at a system. Based on this definition, we established a research model by identifying seven factors affecting both behaviors as independent variables: Learning orientation, Pressure to share knowledge, Top management support, Reward for knowledge sharing, Level of experience in IT, System quality, and Knowledge quality. The 14 hypotheses derived from a research model were tested by a correlation analysis and a multiple regression analysis with data from 165 respondents of the 21 organizations which implemented knowledge management initiatives. As results, both of knowledge registration and knowledge review were strongly affected by the learning-orientedness of an organization. Finally, we discussed results and limitations of this study.

Recent trends in business are characterized by recognition of the importance of knowledge assets. Especially, this phenomenon is receiving more momentum as our society goes digital rapidly. The concept of Knowledge Management has long been used as an effective way of restructuring the management process of a firm. In literature regarding knowledge management, a number of successful cases were reported, where knowledge-based management activities could dramatically enhance a firm's strategic performance for years. However, there exists very little research investigating the effect of knowledge management on corporate competitiveness. Researchers as well as practitioners need more rigorous results about such issues, especially how much the knowledge management strategic initiatives may have an influence on the firm's competitiveness. In this sense, we need an empirical study adopting statistical approaches due to the existence of abundant knowledge management case studies. To fill this research void, this study proposes a research model testing whether knowledge management activities could improve corporate competitiveness. We collected 321 valid questionnaires from participants in knowledge management activities in the tourism industry and applied a structural equation model. Empirical results showed that knowledge management activities have a positive impact on knowledge management efficiency and finally corporate competitiveness. We hope that this study will shed light on further rigorous studies considering tourism industry as a major strategic activity.

As pervasive computing technology, which aims to get linked to useful knowledge, information or services anytime, anywhere, using any devices and/or artifacts, is proliferating, desirable impacts on knowledge management systems are now available. The pervasive computing technology will potentially enable the knowledge management systems to realize individualization and socialization and ultimately increase the knowledge processing productivity. However, researchers who apply the pervasive computing methodologies to novel way of knowledge management have been very few. These result in unsatisfactory consideration of establishing pervasive knowledge management systems. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to cast the vision of pervasive knowledge management and search for a couple of possible research issues and possibilities. This paper suggests a framework of ubiDSS, an amended knowledge management system for the next generation deploying pervasive and autonomous knowledge acquisition capabilities of ubiquitous computing technologies. Also the CKAM, context-based knowledge acquisition module, is illustrated as a prototype of future knowledge management systems.

Recently, knowledge management and E-business are very important issues in academic and business fields. Research questions related with these issues are which factors stimulate knowledge management. Another question is whether knowledge management is related to E-business. To answer these questions a research model was proposed. The data were collected from 90 manufacturing firms in Korea. Appropriate research methodologies were employed for analysis. Results found that the degree of firm's internalization, diversity of domestic management activities and learning orientation affect knowledge aquisition and transfer. Knowledge aquisition and transfer facilitate knowledge application, resulting in new product development, cost reduction and technology differentiation. Knowledge management is a kind of process. This result, therefore, confirms what previous literature predicted.

This paper is an exploratory study providing critical research issues in knowledge management strategy, process operations, and knowledge management system design and control in mass customization. The firms implementing mass customization provide good cases adopting recent changes in business environment including increased diversity and variability of customer needs, fast development of related technologies, and increase of the necessity of knowledge management. In this study, required knowledge management characteristics are investigated and future research issues are suggested for successful implementations of knowledge management. Research issues are extracted from the context of strategy, process, and information system for the purpose of practical adaptation and the types of mass customization are emphasized as a mediating element for fit and consistency between firms' corporate strategy and knowledge management characteristics.

Many R&D organizations have interests on knowledge management system(KMS) to organize and utilize their knowledge resources. Currently, for research collaboration and knowledge management R&D organizations use either a specialized knowledge management system or a set of general application systems such as basic messaging system and document management system. The objectives of this paper are to identify important functionalities of knowledge management systems based on team characteristics and knowledge process of research teams in research organizations and to provide implications to design and implement knowledge management system for R&D teams. Survey results show that research teams perceive communication, collaboration and connection functionalities are important when their team sizes are large or they are distributed. During knowledge capture process, they need personalization of knowledge to reduce information overload.
