DEM is needed for urban modeling, forecasting of floods and the analysis of slope and aspect. It has been generated using digital maps, aerial photos or satellite imageries. Recently, however, many studies on DEM generation from LiDAR data has been conducted because of its efficiency and accuracy. Filtering is said to be the process of making DEM by eliminating non-ground points from LiDAR data. In most researches, some input parameters such as the size of filter are required. The purpose of this investigation is to automatically obtain DEM by eliminating objects of various sizes without the knowledge of the objects' sizes. The experimental results show that most of objects on steep terrain are eliminated by the proposed method.

Patent management activities are considered to play a key role for technology-based firms under the recent knowledge-based economies. This is because intellectual property, including patents, can act as a system for continuous profit generation by protecting firms' products, processes and services. In Korea, healthcare industry is now regarded as one of the promising next generation industries. Despite the promise of healthcare industry, Korean healthcare product manufacturers are faced with turbulent business changes, such as market opening. Even though there are various industrial studies on the effect of patent management activities on firm outcome, previous studies have hardly paid attention to Korean healthcare product manufacturing firms. For this reason, this study identifies the effect of patent management activities, such as patenting activeness, technical excellence and cooperation degree, on firm outcomes, including financial profitability and firm growth, with respect to the Korean healthcare product manufacturers. In this study, we located 86 Korean healthcare manufacturing firms from KORCHAMBIZ and DART, and then collected the data of their patenting activities and outcomes between 2001 and 2013. By applying factor analysis and regression analysis, our empirical study found that firms' patenting activeness has the significant positive relationship on firms' financial profitability, and firms' patenting activeness and technical excellence have the significant positive relationship on firms' financial growth. Our study is an initial attempt to identify the effect of patent management activities on firm outcome within Korean healthcare product manufacturing industry, and thus its results can be used as the basis to formulate national policies for Korean healthcare product industry.

In this paper we present Logical Evolution method which is a new teaming algorithm for the concepts expressed as binary logic function. We try to solve some problems of Inductive Learning algorithms through Logical Evolution. First, to be less affected from limited prior knowledge, it generates features using the gained informations during learning process and learns the concepts with these features. Second, the teaming is done using not the whole example set but the individual example, so even if new problem or new input-output variables are given, it can use the previously generated features. In some cases these old features can make the teaming process more efficient. Logical Evolution method consists of 5 operations which are selected and performed by the logical evaluation procedure for feature generation and learning process. To evaluate the performance of the present algorithm, we make experiments on MONK data set and a newly defined problem.
In this paper we draw from recent theoretical discussions of fan culture and the new media technologies to explore how online communities contribute to new forms of K-pop fandom. We suggest that these online sites play an important role in setting the new stage of dissemination and dialogue of K-pop knowledge, through which particular forms and spaces of online fan culture are being created and sustained. Moreover, these web-based communities challenge the existing concepts that have embraced interrelations between culture, consumption and technology. Based on an empirical study of YouTube, carried out using netnographic methods, this study tackles the following questions: how fans construct themselves as Korean pop fans through the online activities; how they exchange information and opinions of Korean stars; and, what meaning they extract from online file-sharing activities.
The purpose of this study is to offer basic data to adolescents' cosmetic culture by investigating and analysing the choices made by female students who have been becoming principle consumers of cosmetics these days. Firstly, social and cultural backgrounds and concepts of N generation, and then characteristics and influencing powers of female students were reviewed. And this study also included questionnaire surveys of 500 female students in middle and high schools located in Seoul. Data were processed using a SPSS$^+$ program and analyzed by using frequency, percentage and the $X^2$-test. The major findings run as follows: Female students have the effects of spreading their words quickly and abilities of making a decision what to buy. And they accept consuming behaviors itself as a part of cultural lives. Therefore, industries have acknowledged them as new principal consumers with a powerful influence in the market. They also play an important role in active consumer as emotional generation who has distinct personalities and prefer fashion trends, changes and innovations. They show conformities with their peer groups and they also want to identify themselves with characters or stars. The cosmetic behaviors of female students relating to demographic characteristics showed a significant relation to grades, majors, school groups and places of residence. Female students have a lot of interest and knowledge about cosmetics. And they use various cosmetic products. This study demonstrated the age for using make-up for the first time has been becoming younger more and more. Recently, female adolescents tend to use face powder, lip gloss, mascara and eye shadow. It is assumed that cosmetic purchases of female students can be considered as an impulsive aspects. However, before purchases, the proportion of students having any particular cosmetic brand in mind previously has been increasing. They take into consideration skin safety, the quality of product and color, when purchasing cosmetic products.
The purpose of this study is in allowing thinking about the design development process which is more towards the visual and perceptional aspects related to the form structure by more diverse methods by typology of idea generation. To accomplish such goal, researches in the psychology, pedagogy, engineering, and consilient studies as well as related precedent researches and reference data in architecture, promotion, industrial design, and other art fields and fashion designs are collected and analyzed to see the study trend. In addition, in the content analysis method based on such, the idea generation was classified into types in consideration of relevancy, usefulness, and suitability with fashion. First, a concentrated thinking of a limited space is a method of leading an optimal design by focusing on solving the cause of a problem within a space which generates the problem. Second, plan thinking per section of structure decomposition is a method of dismantling the design problems per organization, thinking type, factor, and characteristic into sub-modules to re-interpret and re-organize the problems in various aspects. Third, an associated thinking through interpreting relationships among vocabularies is a method of selecting the marginal languages that allow a person to come up with concrete forms and the key words related to fashion to import the characteristics and attributes of the marginal languages and thematic relationship between the two terms to search the relevancy. Lastly, the free integrated thinking of language extension is a method of groping integration between other fields and fashion by free integration among the extended terms by extending the vocabularies through inferring metaphorical expressions founded upon individual's memories or knowledge concepts regarding theme words that do not allow concrete forms to come up.
In this paper, we present a method that automatically generates concatenate morpheme based language models to improve the performance of Korean large vocabulary continuous speech recognition. The focus was brought into improvement against recognition errors of monosyllable morphemes that occupy 54% of the training text corpus and more frequently mis-recognized. Knowledge-based method using POS patterns has disadvantages such as the difficulty in making rules and producing many low frequency concatenate morphemes. Proposed method automatically selects morpheme-pairs from training text data based on measures such as frequency, mutual information, and unigram log likelihood. Experiment was performed using 7M-morpheme text corpus and 20K-morpheme lexicon. The frequency measure with constraint on the number of morphemes used for concatenation produces the best result of reducing monosyllables from 54% to 30%, bigram perplexity from 117.9 to 97.3. and MER from 21.3% to 17.6%.

This paper describes an application of information presentation based geographic map for maritime information, including navigation information. The work is motivated by the need to prepare maritime information representation and distribution for future generation Web network technology. This works consist of map generation using GML and application to maritime information. GML 3.0 became an adopted specification of the Open Geospatial Consortium(OGC) in January 2003, and is rapidly emerging as the world standard for the encoding, transport and storage of all forms of geographic information. This paper looks at the application of GML to one of the more challenging areas of maritime information. Specific features of GML of interest to maritime information provider are discussed and then illustrated through a series of maritime information case studies. The first phase of the work consists of the construction of GML application schema for using as a base map of maritime information. Maritime information is acquired from multiple sources, including standards documents, database schemas, lexicons, collections of symbol definition. The sources of GML ontological knowledge and the contribution of each source to the overall ontology are described in this paper. In the second phase, the prepared GML is used to create a prototype of the mixed maritime information as a base map - for tagging documents within the maritime domain. An overview of this prototype is included. One application area for these information elements described here is the integrated retrieval of maritime information from diverse sources, ranging from Web sites to nautical chart databases and text documents.
Though BIFS is a complex description language that represents MPEG-4 content as text or bit streams, most traditional MPEG-4 content authoring tools are developed for a BIFS expert. Before using these tools, many authors must invest much time and energy in acquiring knowledge of BIFS. In this paper, we suggest a new manner for saving these efforts. Our proposal supplies the convenient user interface of traditional multimedia authoring tools for MPEG-4 authors and interprets the authored information and transforms it into BIFS. In our user interface, the author generates the minimal authoring information requested for generating BIFS; the BIFS generation module then transforms the information into BIFS format using predefined BIFS construction rules. The resulting BIFS consists of the Scene Tree and the Object Descriptor and Route; they are used for constructing MP4 standard files by mixing with the Elementary Stream.
In this paper, we propose an activity-performer bipartite matrix generation algorithm for analyzing workflow-supported human-resource affiliations in a workflow model. The workflow-supported human-resource means that all performers of the organization managed by a workflow management system have to be affiliated with a certain set of activities in enacting the corresponding workflow model. We define an activity-performer affiliation network model that is a special type of social networks representing affiliation relationships between a group of performers and a group of activities in workflow models. The algorithm proposed in this paper generates a bipartite matrix from the activity-performer affiliation network model(APANM). Eventually, the generated activity-performer bipartite matrix can be used to analyze social network properties such as, centrality, density, and correlation, and to enable the organization to obtain the workflow-supported human-resource affiliations knowledge.
