  • This study is to develop knowledge base system for query extension to the user oriented information retrieval. This study has survey the theories of the concept-based information retrieval method and statistic based information retrieval method. In the construction method of knowledge base, the common hypothesis is that the emergence of related term is the frequency of simultaneous emergence of a set of documents. Using the subject index file algorithms and the 'and' operator of boolean logic based on this hypothesis, this study builds the knowledge base. In this research experiment, a subject of knowledge base is education. Using the book of the Introduction to Education, two experimental knowledge base systems is constructed by the different indexing method. One system has constructed by controlled language indexing method, and another system has constructed by natural language indexing method. The performance of two knowledge base system is evaluated.

  • Ontologies are the core components of the Semantic Web and knowledge-based systems. But it is difficult to find useful ontologies in actual domains. In order to build useful domain ontology, the conceptualization of the domain knowledge by knowledge experts of the specific domain and the specification of conceptualized knowledge with formal languages by ontology designers are required. In addition, structured and detailed guidelines and methods should be provided to be shared by the development team members. However, existing ontology building methodologies define and describe the skeletal structure of the whole building process at the top-layer. We build a useful academic ontology that is based on the conceptual knowledge structure in the domain of philosophy, and propose a detailed methodology to build a text ontology based on Topic Maps. Our methodology consists of two phases, ontology modelling and ontology implementation. We implement a philosophy knowledge portal to support retrieving and navigating of the philosophy knowledge.

  • The information systems in the most enterprise environments are distributed locally and are comprised with various heterogeneous data sources, so that it is difficult to obtain necessary and integrated information for supporting user decision. For solving 'this problems efficiently, it provides uniform interface to users and constructed database systems between heterogeneous systems make a consistence each independence and need to provide transparency like one interface. This paper presents XMDR that consists of category, standard ontology, location ontology and knowledge base. Standard ontology solves heterogeneous problem about naming, attributes, relations in data expression. Location ontology is a mediator that connects each legacy systems. Knowledge base defines the relation for sharing glossary. Adaptive retrieve proposes integrated retrieve system through reflecting site weight by location ontology, information sharing of various forms of knowledge base and integration and propose conceptual domain model about how to share unstructured knowledge.

  • If the stage of establishing concept in interaction design approaches only analytic and numeral & quantitative aspects, it would be lack of new and creative ideas of concept for the suitable and proper relationship among the human and tools or machinery which is required in interaction design. This study has explored the possibility of access through the research of diverse point of views in the various knowledge systems about the relationship. That is this study has expanded from improvement-intended approach as analyzing human and tools and solving problems with analytic and engineering aspect to value-intended approach as pursuing new ideas though various points of relationship. Or so, to examine 'Relationship' in other knowledge systems, it could be the basic research for more deepening and specific study in interaction design. To integrate this study, at first, it deals with interaction design and process. Through the specific method, it has investigated the current interaction design and related studies. In the next, it has researched the study of relationship in oriental and western philosophy, cultural science, social science, natural science and engineering so it has examined the relationship in the various points of knowledge systems. Based on the contents, it has considered the possibility of access in interaction design to explain the relationship in the various points of knowledge systems.

  • In this paper we describe an approach to coordinating the motion of a human with a mobile robot moving in a populated, continuously changing. natural environment. Our test application is a wheelchair accompanying a person through the concourse of a railway station moving side by side with the person. Our approach is based on a method for motion planning amongst moving obstacles known as Velocity Obstacle approach. We extend this method by a method for tracking a virtual target which allows us to vary the robot's heading and velocity with the locomotion of the accompanied person and the state of the surrounding environment.

  • This paper describes a meshless of element-free method based on fuzzy knowledge processing. To efficiently simulate complicated physical phenomena with dynmics and non-linear ploblem using computational mechanics, special method is required such as parallel processing or adaptive analysis techniques. However, the conventional finite element method is too complicated to be employed in the above cases. In order to reduce the above complexity of the conventional finite element analysis systms, the so called meshles finite elements as an input information have been stuided. Node is generated if its distance form existing node points is similar to the node spacing fuction at the point. The node spacing function is well controlled by the fuzzy knowledge processing Practical performances of the present system are demonstrated through several three-dimensional(3D) problems.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the relationship between ICT(Information & communication technology) infrastructure, investment environment, and innovation performance from a national perspective. Design/methodology/approach We derived 5 hypotheses based on the literature review. To measure each concept, We converted the scores of each country provided by the Global Innovation Index into a 7 Likert scale and performed a regression analysis. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, this study confirmed that knowledge and technology output mediated the relationship between ICT infrastructure and creative goods and services. In addition, this study confirmed that the investment environment has a moderating effect between ICT infrastructure and knowledge and technology output.

  • As well as providing various APIs for the development of inference engines and storage models, Jena is widely used in the development of systems or tools related with Web ontology management. However, Jena still has several problems with regard to the development of real applications, one of the most important being that its query processing performance is unacceptable. This paper proposes a storage model to improve the query processing performance of the original Jena storage. The proposed storage model semantically classifies OWL elements, and stores an ontology in separately classified tables according to the classification. In particular, the hierarchical knowledge is managed, which can make the processing performance of inferable queries enhanced and stores information. It enhances the query processing performance by using hierarchical knowledge. For this paper an experimental evaluation was conducted, the results of which showed that the proposed storage model provides a improved performance compared with Jena.

  • After much research on qualitative reasoning, the problem of ambiguities still hampers the practicality of this important AI tool. In this paper, the sources of ambiguities are examined in depth with a systems engineering point of view and possible directions to disambiguation are suggested. This includes some modeling strategies and an architecture of temporal inference for building unambiguous qualitative models of practical complexity. It is argued that knowledge of multiple levels in abstraction hierarchy must be reflected in the modeling to resolve ambiguities by introducing the designer's decisions. The inference engine must be able to integrate two different types of temporal knowledge representation to determine the partial ordering of future events. As an independent quantity management system that supports the suggested modeling approach, LIQUIDS(Linear Quantity-Information Deriving System) is described. The inference scheme can be conjoined with ordinary rule-based reasoning systems and hence generalized into many different domains.
