A functional suspension model is proposed as a kinematic describing function of the suspension, that represents the relative wheel displacement in polynomial form in terms of the vertical displacement of the wheel center and steering rack displacement. The relative velocity and acceleration of the wheel is represented in terms of first and second derivatives of the kinematic describing function. The system equations of motion for the full vehicle dynamic model are systematically derived by using velocity transformation method of multi-body dynamics. The comparison of test and simulation results demonstrates the validity of the proposed functional suspension modeling method. The model is computationally very efficient to achieve real-time simulation on TMS 320C6711 150 MHz DSP board of HILS (hardware-in-the-loop simulation) system for ECU (electronic control unit) evaluation of semi-active suspension.
The main stream of researches on the mobile robot is planning motions of the mobile robot under nonholonomic constraints while only considering kinematic model of a mobile robot. These researches, however, assume that there is some kind of dynamic controller which can produce perfectly the same velocity that is necessary for the kinematic controller. Moreover, there are little results about the problem of integrating the nonholonomic kinematic controller and the dynamic controller for a mobile robot. Also the literature on the robustness of the controller in the presence of uncertainties or external disturbances in the dynamical model of a mobile robot is very few. Thus, in this paper, the robust adaptive controller which can achieve velocity tracking while considering not only kinematic model but also dynamic model of the mobile robot is proposed. The stability of the dynamic system will be shown through the Lyapunov method.

Reducing odometer errors caused by kinematic imperfections in wheeled mobile robots is imestigated. Wheel diameters and wheelbase are corrected by using encoders without landmarks. A new velocity trajectory is proposed that compensates for an orientation error due to acceleration- resolution constraints on motor controllers. Based on this velocity trajectory, the wheel velocity of one out of two driven wheels may be changed by the traveled distance of the mobile robot. It is shown that a wheeled mobile robot can't move along a straight line exactly, even if kinematic correction are achieved perfectly, and this phenomenon is attributable to acceleration-resolution constraints on motor controllers. We experiment on a wheeled mobile robot with 2 d.o.f. are used in the experiment to verify the proposed scheme.

In this study, a translational 3-DOF parallel mechanism formed by constraining the Stewart Platform Mechanism is investigated. The translational 3-DOF parallel mechanism has three struts(3-UPS type serial subchains) and in addition, has a PPP type serial subchain in the middle of the mechanism. Firstly, the closed-form forward and reverse position solutions are derived for this mechanism. And analysis on kinematic characteristics using isotropic index of the Jacobian is conducted to examine effects of design parameters for the mechanism. Lastly, a prototype mechanism is implemented and the kinematic performance of the translational 3-DOF parallel mechanism was verified through experimental work.

This paper presents the two degree-of-freedom (DOF) planar parallel mechanism, called the $2{\underline{R}}RR-RP$ manipulator, whose degree-of-freedom is dependent on an additional passive constraining leg connecting the base and the platform. First, the kinematic analysis of the mechanism is performed: the inverse and forward kinematic problems are analytically solved, the workspace is systematically derived, and all of the singular configurations are examined. Then, in order to determine the geometric parameters the optimization of the mechanism is performed considering its dexterity, stiffness, and space utilization. Finally, the kinematic performances of the optimized mechanism are evaluated through the comparison study to the conventional 5-bar parallel manipulator.
Kinematically redundant manipulators have been studied because of its usefulness of kinematic redundancy. It is natural that the kinematic redundancy induces a kind of control redundancy. By using the weighted kinematically decoupled joint space decomposition, we unify the control redundancy and the kinematic redundancy parameterized by the joint space weighting matrix. Concentrating to the particular component of each decomposition, we can describe the local minimization behavior of the control weighted quadratic by each weighted decomposition. The result extends the conventional results on general setting, and should be of interest in understanding the motion behavior of kinematically redundant manipulators.

This paper presents stable kinematic modeling and path planning and path tracking algorithms for the poisition control of 4-wheeled 2-d.o.f(degree of freedom) mobile robot. We drived the actuated inverse and sensed forward solution for the calculation of actuator velocity and robot velocities. the deal-reckoning algorithm is introduced to calculate the position of WMR in real time. The gaussian functions are applied to control and to design the smooth orientation angle of WMR and the path planning algorithm for obstacle avoidance is prosed. We composed feedback control system to compensate for error because of uncertainty kinematic modeling and measurement noise. The simulation resutls show that the proposed kinematkc modeling and path planning and feedback control algorithms are useful.
This paper presents the trajectory tracking control for mobile robot. The designed controller consists of kinematic and dynamic controller. Kinematic controller has two gains and it reduces the trial time for gain setting as compared convectional controller with three gains. Dynamic controller includes the compensation of friction and disturbance. It can improve the performance of the trajectory tracking under the various environment. Simulation results shows that the proposed controller has a stable performance.

In this paper, we propose an output feedback tracking control method for the wheeled mobile robots with kinematic disturbances. The kinematic disturbances should be compensated to avoid the performance degradation. Also, the unavailable velocity of the mobile robot should be estimated. These should be estimated together by designing the nonlinear observer. Based on these estimates, the output feedback controller can be designed. The stability of the mobile robot control systems using the proposed method is rigorously analyzed and the simulation results are also provided to validate the proposed method.
Elastic-plastic behavior of nuclear power plant elbow piping under seismic loads has been conducted in this study. Finite element analyses are performed using classical Bilinear kinematic hardening model (BKIN) and Multilinear kinematic hardening model (MKIN) as well as a nonlinear kinematic hardening model (Chaboche model). The influence of internal pressure and seismic loading on ratcheting strain of elbow pipe is studied by means of the three models. The results found that the predicted results of Chaboche model is maximum, closely followed by the predicted results of MKIN model, and the minimum is the predicted results of BKIN model. Moreover, comparisons of analysis results for each plasticity model against predicted results for a equivalent cyclic loading elbow component and for a simplified piping system seismic test are presented in the paper.
