This paper presents a channel structure for promising high performance pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor(pHEMT) switching device for design and fabricating of microwave control circuits, such as switches, phase shifters, attenuators, limiters, for application in personal mobile communication systems. Using the designed epitaxial channel layer structure and ETRI's $0.5\mu$m pHEMT switch process, single pole double throw (SPDT) Tx/Rx monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) switch was fabricated for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band wireless local area network (WLAN) systems. The SPDT switch exhibits a low insertion loss of 0.849 dB, high isolation of 32.638 dB, return loss of 11.006 dB, power transfer capability of 25dBm, and 3rd order intercept point of 42dBm at frequency of 5.8GHz and control voltage of 0/-3V These performances are enough for an application to 5 GHz band WLAN systems.

Mobile peer-to-peer (P2P) systems have recently got in the limelight of the research community that is striving to build efficient and effective mobile content addressable networks. Along this line of research, we propose a new peer-to-peer file sharing protocol suited to mobile ad hoc networks (MANET). The main ingredients of our protocol are network coding and mobility assisted data propagation, i.e., single-hop communication. We argue that network coding in combination with single-hop communication allows P2P file sharing systems in MANET to operate in a more efficient manner and helps the systems to deal with typical MANET issues such as dynamic topology and intermittent connectivity as well as various other issues that have been disregarded in previous MANET P2P researches such as addressing, node/user density, non-cooperativeness, and unreliable channel. Via simulation, we show that our P2P protocol based on network coding and single-hop communication allows shorter file downloading delays compared to an existing MANET P2P protocol.

TREK (TWIK-RElated $K^+$ channels) and TRAAK (TWIK-Related Arachidonic acid Activated $K^+$ channels) were expressed in COS-7 cells, and the channel activities were recorded from inside-out membrane patches using holding potential of - 40 mV in symmetrical 150 mM $K^+$ solution. Intracellular application of an oxidizing agent, 5,5'-dithio-bis (2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB), markedly decreased the activity of the TREK2, and the activity was partially reversed by the reducing agent, dithiothreitol (DTT). In order to examine the possibility that the target sites for the oxidizing agents might be located in the C-terminus of TREK2, two chimeras were constructed: TREK2 (1-383)/TASK3C and TREK2 (1-353)/TASK3C. The channel activity in the TREK2 (1-383)/TASK3C chimera was still inhibited by DTNB, but not in the TREK2 (1-353)/TASK3C chimera. These results indicate that TREK2 is inhibited by oxidation, and that the target site for oxidation is located between the amino acid residues 353 and 383 in the C-terminus of the TREK2 protein.

To achieve the ULSI goals of higher density, greater performance and operation speed have been scaled down. However, the reduction of channel length cause undesirable problems such as drop of punchthrough voltage, hot-carrier degradation and high leakage current, etc.. It is shown that the device characteristics depend on process parameters. In this Paper, we catched hold of trends of hot-carrier effects and punchthrough voltages due to variation of some process parameters such as LDD doses(P), spacer lengths, channel doses($BF_2$) and $V_T$ adjusting channel implantation energies using design trend curve (DTC). As the LDD and channel doses increased, hot-carrier phenomena became more severe, and punchthrough voltage was decreased. It were represented that punchthrough and hot carrier effects were critically depend on LDD and channel doses.

Back-to-back built-up cold-formed steel un-lipped channel sections are used in cold-formed steel structures; such as trusses, wall frames and portal frames. In such built-up columns, intermediate fasteners resist the buckling of individual channel-sections. No experimental tests or finite element analyses have been reported in the literature for back-to-back built-up cold-formed steel un-lipped channel sections and specially investigated the effect of screw spacing on axial strength of such columns. The issue is addressed in this paper. The results of 95 finite element analyses are presented covering stub to slender columns. The finite element model is validated against the experimental tests recently conducted by authors for back-to-back built-up cold-formed steel lipped channel sections. The verified finite element model is then used for the purposes of a parametric study to investigate the effect of screw spacing on axial strength of back-to-back built-up cold-formed steel un-lipped channel sections. Results are compared against the built-up lipped channel sections and it is shown that the axial strength of un-lipped built-up sections are 31% lesser on average than the built-up lipped channel sections. It was also found that the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and the Australian and New Zealand Standards were over-conservative by around 15% for built-up columns failed through overall buckling, however AISI and AS/NZS were un-conservative by around 8% for built-up columns mainly failed by local buckling.

Serial links via backplane channels suffer from severe signal integrity problems which are normally caused by channel imperfections, such as flat loss, frequency-dependent loss, reflection, etc. Particularly, the frequency-dependent loss causes ISI(Inter-Symbol-Interference) at signal waveforms. Therefore, adaptive equalizing techniques have been exploited in many products to facilitate the ISI problem. In this paper, we present an analog adaptive equalizer circuit designed in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. It achieves 10Gb/s data transmission through a long 34-inch backplane channel(or transmission line). The post-layout simulations demonstrate $8ps_{p-p}$ jitter with 10mW power dissipation. The core of the adaptive equalizer occupies the area of $0.56mm^2$.

A new flash EEPROM device with p^+ poly-Si control gate and n^+ poly-Si floating side gate was fabricated and characterized. The n^+ poly-Si gate is formed on both sides of the p^+ poly-Si gate, and controls the underneath channel conductivity depending on the number of electron in it. The cell was programmed by hot-carrier-injection at the drain extension, and erased by direct tunneling. The proposed EEPROM cell can be scaled down to 50 nm or less. Shown were measured programming and erasing characteristics. The channel resistance with the write operation was increased by at least 3 times.
Endometrial cells play important roles in implantation and during pregnancy. This study was carried out to identify whether two-pore domain $K^+\;(K_{2P})$ channels are expressed in endometrial cells of Korean cattle. $K_{2P}$ channels set the resting membrane potential of many kinds of neuronal cells in the central and peripheral nervous systems. RT-PCR data showed that TASK-1, TASK-3, TREK-1, TREK-2, and TRAAK were expressed in bovine endometrial cells, and the mRNA expression levels were similar between endometrial cells with or without endometritis. The protein expression was confirmed by using commercially available polyclonal antibodies (TASK-3, TREK-1, TREK-2, and TRAAK). TASK-3 and TREK-1 were expressed in all area of endometrial cells including nuclei, while TREK-2 and TRAAK were expressed in all area of cells except nuclei. These results demonstrate for the first time the presence of $K_{2P}$ channel in endometrial cells of Korean cattle.

The numerical alaysis of optical device, silicabased device, are presented. The purpose of this paper is to simulate and to design a 8-channel optical wavelength division multiplexer(OWDM) based on Mach-Zehnder Interferometer(MZI) with wavelength spacing between channels Δλ=0.8 nm at central wavelength λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. In initial condition fur simulating, we assumed as follows. A channel waveguide is made from silica based P-doped SiO2 core layers in order to coupling with a fiber easily and its core dimension was 6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$\times$6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The core and clad index of channel waveguide were 1.455 and 1.444, separately, at λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Where, the separation between channel waveguides in coupling region was 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. As a result of analysis, a group mode index of channel waveguide was 1.4498370, was gained by Hermite-Gaussian Method(HGM). Also, the channel spacing was determined by the waveguide arm length difference and was Δλ=0.8 nm as like a proposed condition. The central wavelength of a designed-multiplexer was activated about wavelength λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and we certificated that it can be used to 8-channel optical wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer.

The layers of keratinocytes form an acid mantle on the surface of the skin. Herein, we investigated the effects of acidic pH on the membrane current and $[Ca^{2+}]_c$ of human primary keratinocytes from foreskins and human keratinocyte cell line (HaCaT). Acidic extracellular pH ($pH_e{\leq}5.5$) activated outwardly rectifying $Cl^-$ current ($I_{Cl,pH}$) with slow kinetics of voltage-dependent activation. $I_{Cl,pH}$ was potently inhibited by an anion channel blocker 4,4'-diisothiocyanostilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid (DIDS, 73.5% inhibition at 1${\mu}$M). $I_{Cl,pH}$ became more sensitive to $pH_e$ by raising temperature from $24^{circ}C$ to $37^{circ}C$. HaCaT cells also expressed $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^-$ current ($I_{Cl,Ca}$), and the amplitude of $I_{Cl,Ca}$ was increased by relatively weak acidic $pH_e$ (7.0 and 6.8). Interestingly, the acidic $pH_e$ (5.0) also induced a sharp increase in the intracellular [$Ca^{2+}$] (${\triangle}[Ca^{2+}]_{acid}$) of HaCaT cells. The ${\triangle}[Ca^{2+}]_{acid}$ was independent of extracellular $Ca^{2+}$, and was abolished by the pretreatment with PLC inhibitor, U73122. In primary human keratinocytes, 5 out of 28 tested cells showed ${\triangle}[Ca^{2+}]_{acid}$. In summary, we found $I_{Cl,pH}$ and ${\triangle}[Ca^{2+}]_{acid}$ in human keratinocytes, and these ionic signals might have implication in pathophysiological responses and differentiation of epidermal keratinocytes.
