  • Purpose: This study aimed to determine dental technicians' job satisfaction levels and to assess its influence on turnover intention. Methods: We included 230 dental technicians who work within Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, the Gyeonggi Province, and the Chungcheongnam-do Province. We carried out a self-reported survey using a structured questionnaire. Results: As a result of assessing the research subjects' job satisfaction level, we found that there was a significant difference in working hours and a dental-work continuing plan sphere (p<0.05). Achievement & self-realization factors, the human relation factor, and growth & development factors were reported to be major job satisfaction indices. The whole average of the job satisfaction level came to 3.11, thereby appearing to be relatively high. In analyzing the research subjects' turnover intention, there was a significant difference in age, task field, dental-work career, working hours, incumbency, and dental-work continuing plan sphere (p<0.05). The question average for turnover intention was 2.88. As a result of assessing a correlation between job satisfaction and turnover intention, a significant negative (-) correlation was found between job satisfaction and turnover intention. Thus, a higher job satisfaction level was observed to lead to a lower turnover intention. Conclusion: As a result of conducting a regression analysis in order to assess the influence of job satisfaction on a turnover intention, a working condition factor, a human relation factor, and a recognition factor each appeared to have a high impact.

  • This study is to examine the relationship between emotional leadership and turnover intention and mediating role of job stress. A model was established and hypotheses were verified on the basis of literature. In a model proposed for this study, emotional leadership was used as antecedents to job stress while turnover intention was used as consequences for job stress. The sample included 215 employees. Structural equation modeling was used to employed the hypothesized relationships in the conceptual model. Results indicated that emotional leadership has a negative impact job stress and turnover intention, and job stress has a positive impact turnover. Also, emotional leadership negatively affects turnover intention through job stress as expected. Implications are discussed and future research directions are outlined.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the turnover intention model for chief nurse officers in general hospitals. The variables for the study included job stress, social support, job satisfaction, and organization commitment. Methods: A predictive, non-experimental design was used with a sample of 144 chief nurse officers from 144 general hospitals. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS, AMOS program. Results: The overall fitness of the hypothetical model to the data was good (${\chi}^2$=16.80, p=.052, GFI=.96, AGFI=.90, NFI=.97, CFI=.99). Job stress, social support, job satisfaction, and organization commitment explained 59.0% of the variance in turnover intention by chief nurse officers. Both organization commitment and social support directly influenced turnover intention for chief nurse officers, and job stress and job satisfaction indirectly influenced turnover intention. Conclusion: The results imply that chief nurse officers in hospitals need social support and management of job stress to increase job satisfaction and organization commitment, and lower turnover intention.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how certain factors influence job satisfaction and turnover intention of the dietitians working at the correctional institutions. A total 47 sheets of questionnaires (complete enumeration) were distributed respectively to the dietitians during the period from March 20th to May 18th of 2008. A total of 38 questionnaires (response rate 81%) were analyzed by using SPSS (ver. 19.0). The dietitians were more satisfied with coworkers ($3.63{\pm}0.10$) and supervision ($3.19{\pm}0.13$) than with pay ($2.97{\pm}0.09$) and promotion ($2.55{\pm}0.08$). Among the job burnout dimensions, cynicism ($2.58{\pm}0.09$) was rated higher than exhaustion ($2.47{\pm}0.10$), while professional efficacy level ($3.40{\pm}0.08$) was relatively high. The work dimension of job satisfaction was negatively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism dimensions of job burnout (p < 0.001), and turnover intention (p < 0.01), but positively correlated with professional efficacy dimension (p < 0.001). The co-worker dimension was negatively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism (p < 0.05) and turnover intention (p < 0.01), while the supervision, the pay, and the promotion dimension were not correlated with the job burnout and turnover intention. The turnover intention was positively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism dimensions of job burnout (p < 0.001). A stepwise regression analysis revealed that i) professional efficacy was a factor to significantly increase the work dimension of job satisfaction, ii) exhaustion and cynicism to significantly decrease the work and the co-worker dimension of job satisfaction, respectively, and iii) exhaustion to significantly increase turnover intention. The managerial efforts of the institutions could be focused on the job burnout factors to effectively increase the work dimension and the co-worker dimension of the job satisfaction.

  • Purpose : This study examines dental hygienists' emotional labor, job satisfaction, and turnover intention and defines how this emotional labor affects job satisfaction and turnover intention in hospitals. Methods : Among the dental hygienists currently working for the dental department in hospitals and clinics located in Busan, South Korea, 216 dental hygienists who understood the purpose of this research and agreed to participate were instructed to answer a self-administered questionnaire from April 1 to April 30, 2019. A statistical analysis was subsequently conducted on the responses using the SPSS Win 23.0 program. Results : Emotional labor and job satisfaction showed a negative relationship; thus, as emotional labor was low, job satisfaction was high. Moreover, emotional labor and turnover intention were found to be positively correlated, while job satisfaction and turnover intention were shown to be negatively related (p<0.01). Conclusion : The present study demonstrated that the emotional labor of dental hygienists affects job satisfaction and turnover intention. The results suggests that through systematic organization and human resource management, hospitals should design and implement in practice programs to increase dental hygienists' job satisfaction. In addition, these hospitals should secure compensation systems that are motivating enough to enhance the severe emotional labor of dental hygienists to decrease turnover intention. As another method to lower turnover intention, dental hygienists may attempt to resolve emotional disharmony with their own problem-solving methods; however, it is necessary to develop and support organizational culture for the improvement of their working environment.

Turnover intention was significantly correlated with both job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The higher the organizational commitment and the lower the turnover intention, the higher the job satisfaction. The higher the job satisfaction and the lower the turnover intention, the higher the organizational commitment. Analysis of the sub-components of the main variables found The lower the work environment, compensation, and sense of belonging to the organization, the higher the turnover intention. Conclusion : Regular educational programs are needed to improve the expertise of workers at the dementia care center, and opportunities for employees to communicate their needs should be maximized. In addition, higher salaries will attract more able and willing employees, reduce turnover, and provide and a sense of of belonging to the organization. Attention to the proper distribution of work and recruitment of appropriate human resources will further improve the working environment. If the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of workers at the dementia care center are increased and the number of employees intending to change jobs is reduced, the length of employee service will increase and contribute to improved care and service quality for dementia patients.

There were significant correlations among the experience of verbal abuse, job stress, burnout, and turnover intention within the hemodialysis unit nurses. Factors influencing turnover intention were 'burnout' (${\beta}=.42$, p<.001) and 'job stress' (${\beta}=.17$, p=.015)which explained 42% of the variance (F=15.98, p<.001). Conclusion: Results suggest that in order to reduce nurses' turnover intention, nurse managers should explore strategies to reduce nurses' burnout and job stress in nurses in hemodialysis units.
