This paper presents how it is effective to use many features for improving the speed and the accuracy of the visual servo systems. Some rank conditions which relate the image Jacobian and the control performance are derived. It is also proven that the accuracy is improved by increasing the number of features. Effectiveness of the redundant features is evaluated by the smallest singular value of the image Jacobian which is closely related to the accuracy with respect to the world coordinate system. Usefulness of the redundant features is verified by the real time experiments on a Dual-Arm Robot manipulator made in Samsung Electronic Co. Ltd.

The previous kinematic analysis of wheeled mobile robots(WMRs) is performed in an ad-hoc manner, while those of the robot manipulators are done in a consistent way using the coordinate system assignment and the homogeneous transformation matrix. This paper shows why the method for the robot manipulators cannot be used directly to the WMRs and proposes the method for the WMRs, which contains modeling the wheel with the Sheth-Uicker notation and the homogeneous transformation. The proposed method enable us to model the velocity kinematics of the WMRs in a consistent way. As an implementation of the proposed method, the Jacobian matrices were obtained for conventional steered wheel and non-steered wheel respectively and the forward and inverse velocity kinematic solutions were calculated fur a tricycle typed WMR. We hope that our proposed method comes to hold an equivalent roles for WMRs, as that of the manipulators does for the robot manipulators.
This paper aims to add the autonomous driving capability to the inverted pendulum system which maintains the inverted pendulum upright stably. For the autonomous driving from the starting position to the goal position, the motion control algorithm is proposed based on the dynamics of the inverted pendulum robot. To derive the dynamic model of the inverted pendulum robot, a three dimensional robot coordinate is defined and the velocity jacobian is newly derived. With the analysis of the wheel rolling motion, the dynamics of inverted pendulum robot are derived and used for the motion control algorithm. To maintain the balance of the inverted pendulum, the autonomous driving strategy is derived step by step considering the acceleration, constant velocity and deceleration states simultaneously. The driving experiments of inverted pendulum robot are performed while maintaining the balance of the inverted pendulum. For reading the positions of the inverted pendulum and wheels, only the encoders are utilized to make the system cheap and reliable. Even though the derived dynamics works for the slanted surface, the experiments are carried out in the standardized flat ground using the inverted pendulum robot in this paper. The experimental data for the wheel rolling and inverted pendulum motions are demonstrated for the straight line motion from a start position to the goal position.
Robot manipulators constituing multi-robot system must exert the desired motion force on an object to preserve tghe fine motion of it. The forces exerte on an object by the end-effectors of multi-inducing force and the internal force. Here, motion-inducing force effects the motion of an object, but internal force as lies in the null space of an object coordinate can't effect it. The motion of an object can't track exactly the desired motion by the effect of an object, but internal force as lies in the null space of the effect of internal force component, therefore internal force component must be considered. In this paper, first, under assumption that we can estimate exactly the parameter of dynamics, we constitute paper, first, under assumption that we can estimate exactly the parameter of dynamics, we constitute the controller concerning internal force. And we obtain the internal force as projecting force sensor readings onto the space spanned by null basis set of jacobian matrix. Using the resolved acceleration control method and the fact that internal force lies in the null space of jacobian matrix, we construct the robust control law to preserve the robustness with respect to the uncertainty of mainpulator parameters.
In recent, Kalman filter technique has been much used as one of technique for tracking of the moving target. But some problem are still remained to be resolved. For example, when Kalman filter technique is applied to nonlinear system, the technique is nonoptimal estimator. Therefore, extended Kalman filter is proposed to reduce modeling error for nonlinear system. In this study, an extended Kalman filter in Cartesian coordinates is described for moving target, when the radar sensor measures range, azimuth and elevation angle in polar coordinates. And an approximate gain computation algorithm is proposed. In this approach, Kalman gains are computed for three uncoupled filter and multiplied by a Jacobian transformation determined from the measured target position and orientation.
In this paper, the column space and null space of the Jacobian matrix were obtained by using the pseudo-inverse method and projection matrix. The equations of motion of the system were replaced by independent acceleration components using the null space matrix. The proposed method has the following advantages. (1) It is simple to derive the null space. (2) The efficiency is improved by getting rid of constrained force terms. (3) Neither null space updating nor coordinate partitioning method is required. The suggested algorithm is applied to a three-dimensional vehicle model to show the efficiency.
To relize the future intelligent robot the development of a special-purpose processor for a coordinate transformation is evidently challenging task. In this case the complexity of a hardware architecture strongly depends on the adopted algorithm. In this paper we have used an inverse kinemetics algorithm based on incremental unit computation method. This method considers the 3-axis articulated robot as the combination of two types of a 2-axis robot: polar robot and 2-axis planar articulated one. For each robot incremental units in the joint and Cartesian spaces are defined. With this approach the calculation of the inverse Jacobian matrix can be realized through a simple combinational logic gate. Futhermore, the incremental computation of the DDA integrator can be used to solve the direct kinematics. We have also designed a hardware architecture to implement the proposed algorithm. The architecture consists of serveral simple unitsl. The operative unit comprises several basic operators and simple data path with a small bit-length. The hardware architecture is realized byusing the EPLD. For the straight-line motion of the KAIST arm we have obtained maximum end effector's speed of 12.6 m/sec by adopting system clock of 8 MHz.
This paper develops a sequential updating method of the Euler parameter generalized coordinates for the machine kinematics and dynamics, The Newton's method is slightly modified so as to utilize the Jacobian matrix with respect to the virtual rotation instead of this with repect to the Euler parameters. An intermediate variable is introduced and the modified Newton's method solves for the variable first. Relational equation of the intermediate variable is then solved for the Euler parameters. The solution process is carried out efficiently by symoblic inversion of the relational equation of the intermediate variable and the iteration equation of the Euler parameter normalization constraint. The proposed method is applied to a kinematic and dynamic analysis with the Generalized Coordinate Partitioning method. Covergence analysis is performed to guarantee the local convergence of the proposed method. To demonstrate the validity and practicalism of the proposed method, kinematic analysis of a motion base system and dynamic analysis of a vehicle are carried out.
Several voltage instability/collapse problems that have occurred in the electric utility industry worldwide have gained the attention of engineers and researchers of electric power systems. This paper proposes an effective calculation scheme of the extreme loading point and nose curves(P-V curves) using modified Newton-Raphson(N-R) load flow method and the Continuation Method. This method provides detail and visual information of the power system voltage profile and operating margin ro operators and planners. In this paper, a modified load flow claculation method for ill-conditioned power systems is introduced for the purpose of seeking more precise load flow solutions and nose curves, and the Continuation Method is also used as a part of the solution algorithm for the calculation of extreme loading point and nose curves. The conventional polar coordinate based N-R load flow program is modified to avoid numerical difficulties caused by the singularity of the Jacobian matrix occuring in the vicinity of extreme loading point of heavily loaded systems. Application results of the proposed method to Klos-Kerner 11-bus system and modified IEE-30-bus system are presented to assure the usefulness of the approach.
