The Mediating Effect of Interpersonal Ability in the Relationship between COVID-19 stress and Digital Addiction in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 코로나19 스트레스와 디지털중독의 관계에서 대인관계능력의 매개효과)

  • This study was conducted to confirm the mediating effect of interpersonal skills on the relationship between COVID-19 stress and digital addiction of nursing students. Data were collected through an online survey from April 1 to April 30, 2022, for 207 students in the first and second grades of nursing department in two cities. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 programs. As a result of the analysis, COVID-19 stress had a significant direct effect on interpersonal ability(β=.21, p=.015) and digital addiction(β=.20,p=.003). But the indirect effect was not significant, so there no mediating effect on interpersonal ability between the stress of COVID-19 and digital addiction(β=.07, p=.314). Based on the results of this study, we suggest the development of a program to identify factors affecting digital addiction and to prevent and manage digital addiction.

The Relationship between Communication Competency, Interpersonal Relationship Ability and Self-Management Competency of Nursing College Students in Graduation Year (졸업학년 간호대학생의 의사소통능력, 대인관계능력과 자기관리역량 간의 관계)

  • This study is a descriptive study to investigate the relationship between communication competency, interpersonal relationship ability and self-management competency of nursing college students in graduation year. Data collection was conducted from November 1, 2016, to December 9, 2016, in 135 students of 4th grade nursing students in M and K areas. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The result of this study showed that average degree of communication competency was $3.55{\pm}.34$(5 point-scale), interpersonal relationship ability was $3.79{\pm}.50$(5 point-scale), self-management competency was $3.67{\pm}.47$(5 point-scale). The communication competency of nursing college students in graduation year showed a significant positive correlation with interpersonal relationship ability(r=.65, p<.001) and self-management competency(r=.70, p<.001). In addition, interpersonal relationship ability also showed a significant positive correlation(r=.69, p<.001) with self-management competency. Therefore, this study proposes an intervention program to help nursing graduates maintain efficient interpersonal relationships through smooth communication with patients, guardians and staff at the job site after graduation by building their own management competency in their academic life.

Effects of an Interpersonal Relationship Harmony Program on Nursing Students (간호대학생을 위한 대인관계조화 프로그램의 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an interpersonal relationship harmony program and to investigate the effect of interpersonal relationship harmony program on interpersonal relations, conflict resolution methods, interpersonal anxiety, salivary cortisol level for nursing students. Methods: The 8-week interpersonal relationship harmony program was developed based on interpersonal relationship harmony theory. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated using a quasi-experimental design. The participants were 58 third-year nursing students, 29 in the experimental group and 29 in the control group. Data were collected from July 5, 2014 to August 25, 2014 and analyzed through t-test. Results: The experimental group showed significantly higher post-test scores in interpersonal relationship harmony, interpersonal relationship ability, active conflict mitigation and significantly lower post-test scores in active conflict intensification, interpersonal relationship anxiety than those of the control group. Conclusion: The interpersonal relationship harmony program improved nursing students' interpersonal skills and conflict resolution methods and reduced interpersonal relationship anxiety through an integrated approach that covered the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and physical aspects of harmony.

The Effects of Counseling Strategy in Classroom on the Interpersonal Cognitive Problem Solving Ability of Rejected Elementary School Children (학급상담 전략이 배척아동의 대인문제 해결력 향상에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aims at examining how it becomes to change the interpersonal cognitive problem solving ability development of elementary rejected children when teacher practices counseling strategy in classroom To do this, 130 fifth-graders of 4 classrooms from H Elementary School in B City went through Ahn Ie-hwan's(2007) social status type system by using the peer nomination, Then, 21 children were labeled as rejected children. Among them, 16 children were divided into experimental group & control group, 8 for the each group. In order to improve the interpersonal cognitive problem solving ability of rejected children with teacher's counseling strategy in classroom used in this study, 5 weeks activity made according to the level of classroom was carried out in four sides, that is, setting of classroom structure-environments, classroom activities, counseling activities, cooperative learning method, referring to Dreikurs'(1971) 'The counseling strategy in classroom' composed of self-discipline, cooperation, mutual respect, shared responsibility, and social equality. This study obtained the following results. First, There was a significant effect in improving the interpersonal cognitive problem solving ability of rejected children. Looking into sub-factors, there was a significant effect in improving consequential thought and method-ends thought except alternative solution thought and causal thought. Second, there was a significant difference in social status & change of 5 types of children in social status in the respective classrooms when those of the experimental group where teacher's counseling strategy in classroom carried out and those of the control group where teacher's counseling strategy in classroom not carried out were compared. To conclude the results mentioned above, We can see the fact that the counseling strategy in classroom positively affected interpersonal cognitive problem solving ability.

A Study on Factors Affecting Job Satisfaction of Dental Hygienist (치과위생사의 직무만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate job satisfaction of dental hygienist. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 224 dental hygienist. The 224 data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANONA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) Ver.19.0. The average score of the communication skill was $3.32{\pm}0.49$, interpersonal relationship ability was $3.45{\pm}0.48$, job satisfaction was $3.19{\pm}0.44$. The average score of the communication skill according to the general characteristics was the married was higher than the singles, the higher the career. The average score of the interpersonal relationship ability according to the general characteristics was the higher he education, the higher the income and the business management. The average score of the job satisfaction according to the general characteristics was the higher the business management. A multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the effects of communication skill and interpersonal relationship ability on job satisfaction, which had the lower career(t=-2.846, p=0.005), high communication skill (t=2.099, p=0.037), high interpersonal relationship ability(t=4.142, p=0.000). In order to improve the job satisfaction of the dental hygienist, provide proper compensation and the effort to improve the communication skill and interpersonal relationship ability.

The Effects of Family Strengths Perceived by College Students on Self-esteem: Focusing on the Double Mediation of Interpersonal Relationship Ability and Self-Efficacy (대학생이 지각한 가족건강성이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향: 대인관계능력과 자기효능감의 이중매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the double mediation effects of interpersonal relationship ability and self-efficacy in the link between family strengths and self-esteem of college students. To this end, a survey was conducted for 1 month in November 2019, targeting 340 students conveniently sampled from C city in Chungcheongbuk-do and J city in Jeollabuk-do, and the analysis was conducted using SPSS Win. 25 and SPSS PROCESS Macro. The applied statistical techniques were mean comparison analysis (t-test, One-ANOVA), correlation analysis, and PROCESS Macro model No. 6 to analyze the double mediating effect. The main findings of the study are: First, self-esteem was significantly higher in education major than in other majors. Second, as a result of correlation analysis, self-esteem showed a significant positive correlation with family strength, interpersonal relationship ability, and self-efficacy. Third, as a result of the double mediation effect analysis, interpersonal relationship ability and self-efficacy double mediated in the relationship between family strength and self-esteem. The results of this study can be used as basic data to enhance the self-esteem of college students by utilizing interpersonal relationship ability and self-efficacy.

Effects of Communication Ability Enhancement Program for Nursing Students in Korea: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (간호대학생을 위한 의사소통 능력 증진 프로그램의 효과: 체계적 문헌고찰 및 메타분석)

  • Purpose: This study evaluated the efficacy of a communication ability enhancement program for nursing students in Korea through a systematic review of literature and meta-analysis. Methods: The researchers searched data-bases, including the Data Base Periodical Information Academic, Research Information Sharing Service, National Digital Science Library and National Assembly Library. The key words used included 'communication' and 'nursing student'. The researchers evaluated articles published up to July 2016. Out of 381 selected articles, 20 clinical trial studies were meta-analyzed. Each article was evaluated in accordance with the Checklist of Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network. The effect size of communication ability, self-efficacy and interpersonal relations were synthesized by a random effects model from analysis software (R 3.2.3). The heterogeneity of effect size was analyzed by exploratory and confirmatory moderator analysis. Results: The overall effect size of the program was of a moderate level (SMD=0.78, 95% CI: 0.49~1.07) along with each outcome of self-efficacy (SMD=0.80, 95% CI: 0.23~1.37), and interpersonal relations (SMD=0.47, 95% CI: 0.14~0.80). For heterogeneity, moderator analysis was performed, by grade, and a statistically significant moderator was found. Conclusion: It is evident that a communication ability enhancement program for nursing students is moderately effective in improving communication ability, self-efficacy and interpersonal relations.

Exploring Interpersonal Trust Online

  • This study views the people's propensity to rely on others' evaluations as the interpersonal trust online despite a lack of personal interactions. Therefore, this study explores the underlying dimensions of interpersonal trust and examines how interpersonal trust influences trust in the e-tailer and behavioral intent. Data of 395 adults who had purchased apparel goods online were collected nationwide using an online questionnaire. Exploratory and confirmative factor analysis identified five underlying constructs of interpersonal trust online such as peer identification, ability, integrity, shared lifegoals, and benevolence. A structural equation modeling test was conducted to examine the relationships between interpersonal trust, trust in the e-tailer, and behavioral intent. Interpersonal trust influenced on trust in the e-tailer, specifically on trust in the e-tailer's competence which subsequently increased a customer's behavioral intent such as attitude toward the e-tailer and shopping intention. Although no direct effect of interpersonal trust on the behavioral intent was found, interestingly, the effects of the interpersonal trust on the e-tailer trust which derived the behavioral intent to purchase. This result suggests that marketers devise a more effective system and environment that can encourage the interpersonal trust between customers to build a strong trust in e-tailers. It also provides a theoretical framework of online trust in the way of classifying interpersonal trust and trust in e-tailers.

The relation between sensory processing ability and interpersonal problem of some university students (일부 대학생의 감각처리능력과 대인관계문제와의 관계)

  • This research was conducted to find out the relation between sensory processing ability and Interpersonal Problem of university students. The subjects were 177 university students whose curricula were similar. The researchers made the subjects fill out the Adolescent/Adult sensory profile and Korean inventory of interpersonal problem(KIIP). The analysis of the relevancy between the Adolescent/Adult profile and the Interpersonal problem showed that 'Low Registration' is related to all aspects of KIIP. 'Sensation Seeking' showed relation with Domineering/Controlling(r=0.150, p<0.05), self sacrificing(r=0.175, p<0.05), Intrusive (r=0.218, p<0.01), Interpersonal sensitivity(r=0.196, p<0.01), and Need for social approval(r=0.149, p<0.05). 'Sensation Sensitivity' showed relation with all aspects of KIIP. 'Sensation avoiding' showed relatively high relation with Domineering/ Controlling(r=0.403, p<0.01), Vindictive(r=0.420, p<0.01), Interpersonal ambivalence (r=0.452, p<0.01), and aggression(r=0.417, p<0.01). Through this research, it turned out that 'Sensory Processing ability' and the Interpersonal Problem are generally related, especially 'Low Registration' and 'Sensation Sensitivity' are highly related to the Interpersonal Problem.

Effects of classwide peer tutoring on academic achievement, self-leadership and interpersonal ability of nursing students (간호대학생의 전학급동료교수학습이 학업성취, 셀프리더십 및 대인관계능력에 미치는 효과)

  • This is a primitive experimental study to find effects of 10 times classwide peer tutoring on academic achievement, self-leadership and interpersonal ability of nursing students. According to the results of Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis test using SPSS/WIN 19.0, the motive of admission was the factor affecting the most mean ranks related to general characteristics. There were significant differences between academic achievements, cognitive strategy, and promoting relationships(p<.001; p=.020; p=.040), and there was a positive correlation between self-leadership and interpersonal ability(r=.296, p=.041) in Wilcoxon Signed Ranked test. As results of this study, the classwide peer tutoring could be applied in nursing classes for enhancing students' competence, but the researcher suggests further researches with wider range of subjects and setting control group.
