  • The Photovoltaic systems with solar cell way Provide electrical energy to the utility/consumers, which are becoming one of the promising energy substitutes. The photovoltaic system can be classified into two types : One is the stand-alone type, and the other utility interactive one. The latter can return the generated power to the utility, but the former can't. The utility interactive systems are so valuable for peak power cut in summer season. In the photovoltaic systems the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) has been studied for the increase of the generating energy of the photovoltaic system. There are many control methods of MPPT, but a new MPPT algorithm is proposed to overcome the disadvantages of the conventional ones, and as a result the proposed method enables to improve both tracking ability and generating efficiency of photo voltaic system without DC chopper.

  • The longitudinal velocity is necessary for accurate vehicular positioning in urban environment. The pitch angle, which is a road slope, should be calculated to acquire the longitudinal velocity. However, it is impossible to consider very accurate pitch, when using a sensor and an algorithm. That's why process noise and positioning stimation error of IMU should be adjusted to the driving environment and fuse GPS, OBD data with ACF which consist of AKF, CF in this paper. Then, final pitch angle which is appropriate for driving environment is estimated by IMMKF in order to optimize the system model according to road slope models.

  • In the current Internet, the QoS of interactive applications is hardly guaranteed because of variable bandwidth, packet loss and delay. Moreover, VoIP which is becoming an important part of the information infra-structure in these days, is susceptible to network packet loss and end-to-end delay. Therefore, it needs error control mechanisms in network level or application level. The FEC-based error control mechanisms are used for interactive audio application such as VoIP. The FEC sends a main information along with redundant information to recover the lost packets and adjusts redundant information depending on network conditions to reduce the bandwidth overhead. However, because most of the error control mechanisms do not consider end-to-end delay but packet loss rate, their performances are poor. In this paper, we propose a new error control algorithm, SCCRP, considering packet loss rate as well as end-to-end delay. Through experiments, we confirm that the SCCRP has a lower packet loss rate and a lower end-to-end delay after reconstruction.

  • This paper is concerned on kinematic analysis and simulation of an automatic feeding mechanism and a curved inverse earn. The main objective is the development 0 fan algorithm of the earn-feeding mechanism and a CAD program. The computer program CACAFS (Computer-Aided Cam and Automatic Feeding System) is developed by using the state-of-the-art for CAD. Thus, the program CACAFS is independent of computer hardwares and also interactive. As the second part of paper, this paper introduces the technique for the mechanism simulation and graphics-oriented CAD programming. The first part of r paper presents the algorithm to analyze the motion of the inverse earn and the automatic feeding mechanism.

Customizing Ground Color to Deliver Better Viewing Experience of Soccer Video

  • In this paper, we present a method to customize the ground color in outdoor sports video to provide TV viewers with a better viewing experience or subjective satisfaction. This issue, related to content personalization, is becoming critical with the advent of mobile TV and interactive TV. In outdoor sports video, such as soccer video, it is sometimes observed that the ground color is not satisfactory to viewers. In this work, the proposed algorithm is focused on customizing the ground color to deliver a better viewing experience for viewers. The algorithm comprises three modules: ground detection, shot classification, and ground color customization. We customize the ground color by considering the difference between ground colors from both input video and the target ground patch. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme offers useful tools to provide a more comfortable viewing experience and that it is amenable to real-time performance, even in a software-based implementation.

  • A human operator is able to perform some tasks smoothly with force feedvack for the teleoperation or a virtual device in a the virtual environments. This paper describes a virtual force generation method with which operator can feel the interactive force between virtula robot and artificial environments. A virtual force generation algortihm is applied to generate the contact force at the arbitrary point of virtual robot, and the virtual force is displayed to the human operator via a tendon master arm consisted with 3 motors. Some experiments has beencarried out to verify the effectiveness of the force generation algorithm and usefulness of the developed backdrivable master arm.

Effective Content-Based Image Retrieval Using Relevance feedback (관련성 피드백을 이용한 효과적인 내용기반 영상검색)

  • We propose an efficient algorithm for an interactive content-based image retrieval using relevance feedback. In the proposed algorithm, a new query feature vector first is yielded from the average feature vector of the relevant images that is fed back from the result images of the previous retrieval. Each component weight of a feature vector is computed from an inverse of standard deviation for each component of the relevant images. The updated feature vector of the query and the component weights are used in the iterative retrieval process. In addition, the irrelevant images are excluded from object images in the next iteration to obtain additional performance improvement. In order to evaluate the retrieval performance of the proposed method, we experiment for three image databases, that is, Corel, Vistex, and Ultra databases. We have chosen wavelet moments, BDIP and BVLC, and MFS as features representing the visual content of an image. The experimental results show that the proposed method yields large precision improvement.

  • This paper describes the design of a block data flow architecture(BDFA) which implements 2-D discrete wavelet transform(DWT)/inverse discrete wavelet transform(IDWT) for real time image processing applications. The BDFA uses 2-D product separable filters for DWT/IDWT. It consists of an input module, a processor array, and an output module. It use both data partitioning and algorithm partitioning to achieve high efficiency and high throughput. The 2-D DWT/IDWT algorithm for 256$\times$256 lenna image has been simulated using IDL(Interactive Data Language). The 2-D array structured BDFA for the 2-D filter has been modeled and simulated using VHDL.

  • We consider a Location-Allocation Problem with the Cost of Land(LAPCL). LAPCL has extremely huge size of problem and complex characteristic of location and allocation problem. Heuristics and decomposition approaches on simple Location-Allocation Problem were well developed in last three decades. Recently, genetic algorithm(GA) is used widely at combinatorics and NLP fields. A lot of research shows that GA has efficiency for finding good solution. Our main motive of this research is developing of a package for LAPCL. We found that LAPCL could be reduced to trivial problem, if locations were given. In this case, we can calculate fitness function by simple technique. We built a database constructed by zipcode, latitude, longitude, administrative address and posted land price. This database enables any real field problem to be coded into a mathematical location problem. We developed a package for a class of multi-location problem at PC. The package allows for an interactive interface between user and computer so that user can generate various solutions easily.
