  • Android provides a message-passing mechanism called intent. While it helps easy developments of communications between intra and inter applications, it can be vulnerable to attacks. In particular, implicit intent, differing from explicit intent specifying a receiving component, does not specify a component that receives a message and insecure ways of using implicit intents may allow malicious applications to intercept or forge intents. In this paper, we focus on security vulnerabilities of implicit intent and review researched attacks and solutions. For the case of implicit intent using 'developer-created action', specific attacks and solutions have been published. However, for the case of implicit intent using 'Android standard action', no specific attack has been found and less studied. In this paper, we present a new attack on implicit intent using Android standard action and propose solutions to protect smart phones from this attack.

  • This study evaluates potential factors in various levels that affect students' intent to leave school. Those levels include individual, family, and school. After thorough review of literature on related subjects, the data from 「2021 Youth Survey on Human Right Conditions」 will be analyzed. Binary logistic regression analysis shows several results. First of all, respondents' age and sex strongly influence students' intents to leave school. Secondly, in terms of effect size, respondents' age is strongly related to the dependent variable in all models. Third, compared to those variables in individual and family levels, the effects of variables in school level are more significantly related to the intents to leave school. Finally, the significance of the effect of students' independent activities in school on the intent to leave school implies that students' voluntary and independent activities in school could decrease students' frustration in school and increase motivation to stay in school in certain ways.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the acoustic characteristics of crying infants according to the communication intents such as hunger and pain in terms of acoustic differences in the fundamental frequency ($F_0$), jitter, shimmer, noise-to-harmonic ratio(NHR), habitual pitch, and intensity. The subjects were 20 healthy, normal infants, less than seven days old, from the city of Seoul and were born after 38 to 42 weeks(full term) of pregnancy. The sound of crying was recorded for three minutes. The crying due to pain was induced by means of the inborn metabolism error test, whereas the crying due to hunger was verified by means of the rooting reflex by waiting for the designated eating time. The results were as follows: (1) the fundamental frequency, noise-to-harmonic ratio(NHR), and intensity of the infants' crying due to pain was higher than that by hunger, showing a significant difference between the mean values. (2) the infants' crying due to hunger and that by pain did not have a significant difference in the mean jitter and shimmer values but both of them were largely outside of the normal threshold values(jitter by 1.04% and shimmer by 3.81%). This study was significant in the sense that it showed the acoustic characteristics of infants' crying from hunger and pain were very different from each other according to the communication intents in terms of the six acoustic parameters.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to clarify the role of alcohol use disorders and acute alcohol consumption in suicide attempts by gender. Methods : Data of 1,152 suicide attempters(487 males and 742 females) who had visited an emergency center was gathered. Suicide attempts were categorized into three groups according to alcohol use: an alcohol use disorder group(AUD), an acute alcohol use group(AAU), and a no-alcohol use group(NAU). The intent and lethality of suicide attempts were evaluated by Suicidal Intents Scale and Risk-Rescue Rating Scale. Results : For Suicidal Intents Scale score, the male AUD group revealed a significantly lower mean score than the male AAU one. However, there were no statistically significant differences for female subjects across subgroups. With regard to the Risk-Rescue Rating Scale score, there were no significant differences for males, while the AUD group showed both the lowest highest rescue scores and lowest risk-rescue scores within female groups. Conclusions : AUD in females was more likely regarding impulsive suicide attempts with high rescue chances. Consuming alcohol might have different effect on suicide attempts by gender and our study shows that alcohol use is an important risk factor according to gender, particularly with regard to female suicide attempts.

  • In this paper , we propose an incremental approach for recognizing a class of machining features from a featurebased design model as a part design proceeds, utilizing various information such as nominal geometry, design intents, and design feature characteristics. The proposed apptroach can handle complex intersecting features and protrusion features designed on oblique faces. The class of recognized volumetric machining features can be expressed as Material Removal Shape Element Volumes (MRSEVs), a PDES/STEP-based library of machining features.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how much the service quality of the radiology department at the hospital is influential to customers' satisfaction and intents of reusing the department and informing it to others. For the purpose, this researcher surveyed 201 patients whon used the radiology department at the hospital. Findings of the study can be summarized as follows. First, the surveyed patients' perceptions of the service quality of the radiology department in accordance with their demographic characteristics were investigated to find that among the subjects, women were perceiving the radiological technician as more kind than men were. Among the subjects, women were higher in customer satisfaction about the service quality of the radiology department and intents of reusing the department and informing it to others than men were. Second, out of factors of the radiology department's service quality, those who were significantly affecting customer satisfaction included waiting time for treatment at the department, kindness of the radiological technician, environment of the radiography room and facilities of the department. Third, customer satisfaction was significantly affecting the intent of reuse. Fourth, customer satisfaction was significantly influencing the intent of informing to others. In other words, the more customers are satisfied with the service quality of the radiology department, the more they are likely to inform the department to others and reuse it. In conclusion, the sustainable growth and effective management of the medical institution requires improving the service quality of its department of radiology and thereon maximizing customer satisfaction.

  • In reusable component retrieval systems with facet-based schemes, facet queries are generally used for representing the characteristics of components relevant to users. This paper proposes an expanded facet query equipped with an object-based thesaurus to precisely formulate user's intents. To evaluate the query, a component retrieval system is also designed and implemented. For exactly retrieving the components, user's query should include relevant facet values capable of fully specifying their characteristics. However, simply listing a series of facet values directly inputted by users, conventional queries fails to precisely represent user's intents. Our query, called expanded facet query, employs fuzzy boolean operators and object-based thesaurus; the former logically expresses the fuzzy connectives between facet queries and required components, whereas the latter helps users appropriately select the specific facet values into the query. A thesaurus query is provided to recommend the relevant facet values with their fuzzy degrees from the thesaurus as well. Furthermore, our retrieval system can automatically formulate queries with the recommended facet values, if necessary.

  • In reverse engineering, existing products are digitized fur the computer modeling. Using the digitized data, surfaces are modeled for new products. However, in the digitizing process measuring errors or deviations can be happened often in practice. Thus, it is important to adjust such errors or deviations during the computer modeling. To adjust the errors, fairing of the modeled surfaces is performed. In this paper, we present a surface fairing algorithm based on various fairness metrics. Fairness metrics can be discrete. We adopt discrete metrics for fairing given 3D point set. The fairness metrics include discrete principal curvatures. In this paper, automatic fairing process is proposed for fairing given 3D point sets for surfaces. The process uses various fairness criteria so that it is adequate to adopt designers'intents.

  • This research addresses examining the service recovery process in Airline service. A service recovery framework is suggested and tested empirically. The framework includes several factors such as service recovery expectations, service recovery achievements, recovery performance, post-recovery satisfaction, and post-recovery behavioral intents. The relationships among these factors are hypothesized and proved empirically. Consequently the results suggest that recovery expectation impacts on recovery performance significantly. Also the higher the recovery performance, the higher post-recovery satisfaction, then it increases customers' purchase intent and words of mouth. Finally, this paper suggests the need for new service recovery strategies.
