  • Recently, Ertogral et al.[2] suggested two models considering the transportation cost based on single-vendor single-buyer integrated production-inventory problem. Although their problem-solving algorithm guarantees solutions obtained are optimal, a limitation is revealed that its performance can be inefficient due to complete enumeration search in a certain range. In this paper, a more efficient algorithm in finding optimal solutions is suggested for the same problem suggested by Ertogral et at.[2]. Numerical examples are presented for illustrative purpose.

  • Manufacturers, or vendors, and their customers continue to adopt vendor-managed inventory(VMI) program to improve supply chain performance through collaboration achieved by consolidating replenishment responsibility upstream with vendors. In this paper, we construct a mixed integer linear programming model and propose a genetic algorithm for the integrated inventory and routing problems with lost sales maximizing the total profit in the VMI supply chains which comprise of a single manufacturer and multi-retailer. The proposed GA is compared with the mathematical model on the various sized test problems with respect to the solution quality and computation time. As a result, the GA demonstrates the capability of reaching solutions that are very close to those obtained by the mathematical model for small problems and stay within 3.2% from those obtained by the mathematical model for larger problems, with a much shorter computation time. Finally, we investigate the effects of the cost and operation variables on the total profit of the problem as well as the GA performance through the sensitivity analyses.

  • GCM(Green Chain Management) is being spread by that companies which apply with eco-friendly concept in entire SCM(Supply Chain Management) perspective is being increased for resolving some recent environmental problems. There are reasons that numerous companies focus on GCM. At first various governments began to directly manage components and material contents about various noxious substances. Second, environment problem management in the entire logistics process from procurement of product materials to distribution of product became to be important according to introduction of certification system that evaluate the environmental impact throughout life-cycle of products. Purposes of this paper are 1) to analyze the GCM process whose important is more increasing in the recent logistics environment change, 2) to comprehend places and sources that generate environmental elements like energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in elements of logistics function, and 3) to construct integrated GCM system for observing activity of logistics function throughout life-cycle of products.

  • This study discusses a contract to promote collection and recycling of used products in a green supply chain (GSC). A collection incentive contract is combined with a reward-penalty contract. The collection incentive contract for used products is made between a retailer and a manufacturer. The reward-penalty contract for recycling used products is made between a manufacturer and an external institution. A retailer pays an incentive for collecting used products from customers and delivers them to a manufacturer with a product order quantity under uncertainty in product demand. A manufacturer remanufactures products using recyclable parts with acceptable quality levels and covers a part of the retailer's incentive from the recycled parts by sharing the reward from an external institution. Product demand information is assumed as (i) the distribution is known (ii) mean and variance are known. Besides, the optimal decisions for product quantity, collection incentive of used products and lower limit of quality level for recyclable parts under decentralized integrated GSCs. The analysis numerically investigates how (1) contract for recycling activity, (ii) product demand information and (iii) quality of recyclable parts affect the optimal operation for each GSC. Supply chain coordination to shift IGSC is discussed by adopting Nash Bargaining solution.

  • We consider a supply chain where products are shipped to warehouse from manufacturing system to customers. Products are supplied from either in-house regular manufacturing or the secondary source such as subcontractor. The inventory in warehouse is controlled by base-stock policy, that is, whenever a demand arrives from customer, an order is released to the manufacturing system. Unsatisfied demand is backlogged. The manufacturing system is modeled as M/M/s+1/c queueing system, and the orders exceeding the given limit care blocked and lost. The steady state distribution of the outstanding orders and the throughput of the manufacturing system are functions of the level of engagement In the secondary source. There is a profit obtained from throughput and cost not only due to the engagement of the secondary source in the manufacturing system but also inventory positions. We want to maximize the total production profit minus the total cost of the production system by simultaneously determining the optimal level of engagement of the secondary source and the optimal base-stock level of the inventory. We develop two algorithms : one without guarantee of the optimal solution but with the small number of computations, the other optimal but with more computations.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a quantitative model to evaluate the performance of the servitized business model. We aim to quantitatively analyze the decisions of participants in the servitized supply chains, and provide methods to maximize the performance. We consider servitized supply chains consisting of a manufacturer and a service provider, that can be integrated, separated or coordinated based on the relationship between the manufacturer and the service provider. The decision models in each case are developed, and performance and profitability are analyzed. Utilizing the decision models in different cases, we compare the performances of different business models of the servitization. Since our models can be applied to analyze a wide range of the servitization business models, we expect this study can contribute to promote servitization in manufacturing companies by providing methods to evaluate the profitability of the servitization business model.

  • Analytic models have been developed to solve integrated production-distribution problems in supply chain management (SCM). As one of major constraints in analytic models, capacity, which is the total operation time in this paper has mostly been known or disregarded assuming infinite capacity. Also, as major factors, machine processing time to fabricate or assemble a part or product at a certain machine center in production system and vehicle processing time to deliver a product to a customer by a certain vehicle in distribution system have been fixed and regarded as a static factor, But in the real systems significant differences exit between capacity and the required time to achieve the production-distribution plan and between processing time and consumed time to process a part or product. In this paper, capacity and processing times in the analytic model are considered as dynamic factors and adjusted by the results from independently developed simulation model, which includes general production-distribution characteristics. Through experiments, we obtain the more realistic solutions reflecting stochastic natures by performing the iterative analytic-simulation procedure.

  • Many major country have struggled to build a block of the secondary battery industry supply chain by considering their interests first. And their supply chain due diligence agreement mandates due diligence on human rights and environmental risks that may occur throughout the supply chain. So the integrated approach called supply chain ESG is needed. But there isn't to be a global standard for ESG yet. And the disclosure standards for each country are different, adding to companies' confusion. In this perspective, to present guidelines for establishing a supply chain ESG management strategy accompanied by Korean SMEs, this study presents environmental evaluation indicators of global secondary battery supply chain ESG customized for Korean SMEs and then performs weight analysis using AHP methodology. Through this, this study aims to suggest implications for accepting sustainability within the supply chain of Korean SMEs by presenting indicators to be considered first among environmental evaluation indicators in preparation for ESG due diligence of the global secondary battery supply chain.
