  • The conduction-cooled HTS SMES is operated in cryogenic and high vacuum condition. Thus, Insulation design at cryogenic temperature and high vacuum is a key and an important element that should be established to accomplish miniaturization that is a big advantage of HTS SMES. Therefore, we need active research and development of insulation concerning application of the conduction-cooled HTS SMES. Therefore, in this study, we experimented about insulation characteristic high vacuum and cryogenic similar to driving condition of SMES system. Also, investigated about insulation characteristic of suitable some materials to insulator for conduction-cooled HTS SMES. As this results, we possessed basis data for insulation materials selection and insulation design for development of 600 kJ class conduction-cooled HTS SMES.

  • To found out the degradation characteristic of transformer insulation, insulation materials and electrodes are deposited into transformer oil. They used to heated and make flashover. Due to the thermal and electrical stress added to insulation materials, the density of carbon dioxide and hydrogen included in transformer oil was increased. The gas density can measured by using the gas density detection equipment of gas sensor and air circulation method.

  • A children's electric shock accidents have broken out because children can easily insert sharp things in 220V receptacle holes. As the test result of pushing force, children's pushing force was about 2-4kg and the pushing force of sharp things was less than 2kg. Therefore, it is reason for electric shock that children's pushing force is large than pushing force of sharp things. We have measured insulation resistance for the receptacles of five companies during 50 weeks in humid condition. As these results, Insulation resistance for the receptacles of J. Co. had rapidly decreased with lapse of time. As the result for investigating the surface of receptacle by SEM and EDX, Al, Fe and Br, which weren't discovered at original form, were produced. Therefore, the receptacles of J. Co. should be the improved in the quality of insulating material because insulation resistance can be decreased in humid environment

  • This study was conducted to develop excellent insole with good thermal insulation using new materials. We investigated that aerogel/fiber composite can be used as padding materials of shoes by comparing surface shape, moisture regain, water vapor permeability, thermal insulation and compression rate of insole materials tried with nonwoven fabric padding materials and insole sold in market. The results are as follows. Surface shapes were shown that the most appropriate material for sealing aerogel/fiber composite was high density fabric as per size of particle of aerogel. Moisture regain of aerogel/fabric composite was better than nonwoven fabric padding samples. However, when compared to insole sold in market, its moisture regain was worse than those of insole merchandises. Water vapor permeability was higher in material padded with nonwoven fabric than materials padded with aerogel/fiber composite in all three kinds of sealing fabrics. Thermal conductivity of aerogel/fabric composite was lower than nonwoven fabric material regardless of sealing fabrics. Thermal insulation of aerogel/fiber composite was higher than padding material of nonwoven fabric regardless of sealing fabrics. Compression rate of nonwoven (SP1) was higher than that of aerogel/fiber composite (SP2). Compressive elastic recovery rate of SP1 was also higher than that of SP2, which its compression rate and compressive elastic recovery rate were both poor. As the above result, ultra porous aerogel/fiber composite were proved to be material of good thermal insulation with lower thermal conductivity and also compression rate was proved to be low. Therefore, we can say that aerogel/fiber composite have high possibility to be used as insole materials for cold winter shoes requiring good thermal insulation protection.

  • Consumer and property evaluation of wetsuit materials were conducted to obtain useful data for developing competitive products that meet consumer expectations and improving industrial competitiveness. Data were collected through online surveys of 213 domestic consumers who have experienced wearing wetsuit among marine leisure activities. Five types of commercial wet suit materials by brand and four types of commercial wet suit materials with the same quality by thickness were collected. Then, their physical properties, salt water resistance and thermal insulation rate were evaluated and compared. As a result, the most commonly used wetsuit material is 3 to 5 mm thick, and the basic jersey material is bonded on both sides. As a processing for imparting functionality, processing for improving warmth and reducing surface resistance are most frequently used. Consumers often feel uncomfortable when wearing a wetsuit, such as wearing comfort, weight, ease of movement, stretchability, and clothing pressure, which are different from those of casual wear. Also, mechanical strength and warmth were considered to be the most important criteria for selection of wetsuit material for purchase or rental. The mechanical properties of brand A and B were better than those of brand C, D, and E. Resilience and thermal shrinkage were better in brand C, D, and E. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the physical properties due to the difference in thickness of the material at the same quality. Also, it was found that the thicker the material, the more stable it is in the heat. Brand A and B had superior salt water resistance than brand C, D, and E. In the thermal insulation test, brand A and B showed better insulation characteristics than brand C, D, and E, but the types of bonded fabric and surface finishing of materials were thought to have affected. In comparison of the thickness, the thicker the materials, the better the salt resistance and the thermal insulation.

  • Diagnostic tests are used to evaluate the insulation condition of stator windings in traction motor. These tests included ac current, tan delta and maximum partial discharge. The insulation condition of stator windings was assessed by three test items. The stator windings of traction motor were m good condition. After completing the diagnostic tests, the stator windings of traction motors were subjected to gradually increasing ac voltage, until the insulation punctured. No.5 stator windings failed near rated voltage of 18.9 kV. The breakdown voltage of No.1 stator windings was 13.0. The failure was located m a line-end coil at the exit from the core slot.

  • Pressboard is used for insulation oil-immersed equipment such as transformer. It's low cost, good electrical properties when immersed in oil, ease of storage and installation, and general reliability have made it virtually a universal choice. This study has examined fabricating specimen and specimen characteristics of pressboard.

  • In this paper insulation cover that being used in distribution line have been evaluated for aging characteristics. For evaluating its aging properties, we dismounted a variety of samples, like insulation covers for termination of deadend clamp, bushing, LA, COS and sleeve, in the fields. we performed mechanical properties test, electrical test, weathering test, etc. of these samples. And these samples are compared with virgin sample. Test results shows the bad mechanical strength in some part of samples. Especially, Insulation covers for the bushing terminations have cracks in the surface of samples.
