To purpose of the study was to analyze faculty utility of Web-Based course support system in Universities. Data were collected from log file in server computer, 5,023 faculties and 12,733 courses offered at spring semester of 2009 in the Metropolitan area S, K, D universities were analyzed. Specifically, frequency and percentile of faculties and courses using course management system were analyzed. In addition, the frequencies and percentiles of courses using sub-functions of course management system were analyzed and X2 test used to examine the difference of frequencies of faculties and courses using course system at using announcement, providing instructional material, public bulletin board and free board. Results were as follows. The 62.28% of faculties and 50.3% of courses have used Web-Based course support system. The results of Subfunction utility analysis showed the highest use as 80.4%. in providing instructional material. However, the use of announcement functions and online discussion was more or less low. Results imply that most of faculties and course are using course management system as supplementary system of off-line instruction.

One of the most important objectives in science education is to develop students' science literacy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relevance between biology instructional objectives in the 7th curriculum taught in elementary and secondary schools. For this study, 7 major parts in each grade were analyzed including cell, the form and function of plants, the form and function of animals, genetics, diversity, evolution, ecology, and environment. The strand map of instructional objectives is completed that represents the relation between the objectives. The summary of the results from this study is as follows. First, the concept about cells is not fully covered in lower grades including elementary schools. While the concept of energy metabolism is repeatedly covered, there is no concept of energy covered in learning the concept of energy metabolism in elementary schools. Second, the textbooks in elementary and middle schools have main concepts about the form and function of plants while those in high schools don't. The concept related to the part of the form and function of animals is repeatedly involved in the curriculum throughout the elementary, middle, and high schools. Third, the concepts such as genetics and evolution are involved in higher grades since these concepts are abstract ones. The part of genetics and evolution as well as diversity has no connection between grades in schools, so the development of "notion between" is necessary to relate these concepts with each other. Fourth, the 4 parts of diversity, ecology and environment, evolution, and the form and function of plants are covered in limited grade levels. The results of the relevance of gene in lesson goals will play an important rein as the primary material in developing the connection between textbooks in which lesson goals are closely related to each other throughout all grade levels in elementary, middle and high schools.
The 7th national mathematics curriculum lays emphasis on an interrelation of several subjects and a connection between mathematics and real life. In this reason, this study focuses on the enhancement of sound understanding nuclear energy which is one of important factor(concepts or contents) dealt with in the other subjects such as science, environment, social studies, etc.. Recently, even though it is insistent that nuclear energy be so important and request in the future society, there are still strong pro and cons regarding the use of it. In this study, teaching-and-learning materials were developed dealing with using nuclear energy, and consequently they might be used in math class for the purpose of enhancement of mathematical learning ability and of recognition on nuclear energy. In this study, Material 1 included a matter of the necessity for nuclear power plants using the ratio concept, and Material 2 did on a matter of the efficiency of nuclear energy and the unclear of nuclear power plants using ratio-graph, in the elementary and upper school mathematics. Material 3 focused on a matter of the principles of nuclear power plants using the properties of exponential law in high school mathematics. Ultimately, it is hoped in the study that more diverse instructional materials dealing with diverse situations inside and outside mathematics would be developed.
This study presents the process and outcomes of developing mathematical-informatics linkage·convergence class materials, based on previous research findings that indicate a lack of such materials in high schools despite the increasing need for development of interdisciplinary linkage·convergence class materials In particular, this research provides insights into the discussions of six teachers who participated in the same professional learning community program, aiming to create materials that are suitable for linkage·convergence class materials and highly practical for classroom implementation. Following the material development process, a theme-based design model was applied to create the materials. In alignment with prior research and consensus among teacher learning community members, mathematics and informatics teachers developed instructional materials that can be utilized together during a 100-minute block lesson. The developed materials utilize societal issue contexts to establish links between the two subjects, enabling students to engage in problem-solving through mathematical modeling and coding. To increase the validity and practicality of the developed resources during their field application, CVR verification was conducted involving field teachers. Incorporating the results of the CVR verification, the finalized instructional materials were presented in the form of a teaching guide. Furthermore, we aimed to provide insights into the trial-and-error experiences and deliberations of the developers throughout the material development process, with the intention of offering valuable information that can serve as a foundation for conducting related research by field researchers. These research findings hold value as empirical evidence that can explore the applicability of teaching material development models in fields. The accumulation of such materials is expected to facilitate a cyclical relationship between theoretical teaching models and practical classroom applications.
In this paper, some factors such as the perspective of children, instructional materials(especially activities in textbooks for elementary school mathematics), and teacher's questioning styles are discussed as ones influenced on students' immersion in leaner-centered instruction. This discussion is based on the author's two implementations of the kind of two instructions. About the first theme, constructivists assert that even children who are in elementary school can have reflective abstracting ability. Teachers' asking questions with the belief differ from ones with traditional perspective of children, which is relevant the third factor. They value and respect learners' thinking outcomes, even though they are not sometimes wrong and have errors. Also, they have them opportunities to think different from others and to ask how they get their answers. To do these, they frequently ask open-ended questions, not closed. All of them is possible through the activities provided in textbooks. Some characteristics which can prompt such teacher's questions using activities in elementary mathematics textbooks are discussed.

By the comparative analysis of high school Home Economics curricula in the U.S., Japan and Taiwan, this study first attempts to understand the current Home Economics education and to access its treads for each country. Based on the findings of the analysis, the study also seeks to get the major implications of the analysis for the betterment of the Korea Home Economics Education. The main sources of information and data analyzed here are: 1) curricula for both Oklahoma and Ohio state as representatives of the U.S.; 2) Home Economics Teaching Guidelines in Japan; and 3) Home Economics curriculum in Taiwan. Content Analysis technique is applied in this study. The major elements of contents include:1) structure of the curriculum; 2) subject name; 3) unit (time) allotment; 4) goals; 5) subject areas and content composition; and 6) other related characteristics for the implementation of the curriculum. Summarized results of the study outline as follows: 1) Home Economics is offered as independently required subject with equal status to Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies subject in all three countries; 2) Sex discrimination is prohibited both in the U.S. and Taiwan, while in Japan sex equity is not secured for Home Economics educations; 3) Time allotment for Home Economics in Japan and Taiwan is similiar to that in Korea;4) Subject areas cover such fields as Foods and Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles, Home Management, and Human Development in all three countries, which is similiar to those of Korea. In addition, Consumer Education and Career Education are also covered in the U.S., whereas in Japan Child Care is offered; and 5) Curriculum can be utilized as instructional planning material due to the clear specification of instructional methods, materials, and evaluation methods on the curriculum, especially in the U.S. and Taiwan.

Construction industry has a relatively higher accident rate compared to other industries, especially the serious accident rate including death. Ministry of Employment and Labor has not only implemented safety consciousness but also initiated the basic occupational safety and health training for the construction industry. Despite the effort, only a few sites follow the obligatory task and there are reports stating the effect of the education is minimal. As a result, this research aims to determine and analyze the current state of the basic occupational safety and health training including its lesson plan and method. Furthermore, by analyzing the preliminary study on the effective instructional method, this research suggests an effective method to implement safety consciousness to the workers. An improvement plan is also suggested by supplying appropriate educational material to different workers by differentiating the characteristics and the cause of death at various work types in construction sites.
The purpose of this study was to develop, through the integration of instructional theory, a Courseware and to investigate the effectiveness of a web-based computer assisted instruction(WBI) program for preventing drug abuse, a serious problem for youth problem. During the first stage of this study done "Drug Abuse Prevention" Courseware was developed based on, Gagn & Brigg's instructional design theory, Keller's ARCS theory and the CAI model of Hannafin & Peck. For the second stage, the courseware was used to provide education for students adolescents in drug abuse prevention. This study used an quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design with a convenience sample of 36 male high school students who were at one high school located in Seoul. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires which included a learning achievement tool, the Keller's IMMS (Instructional Material Motivation Survey), on attitudes to drug use, and on responses to the WBI instruction. Prior to the experiment, the "drug abuse prevention" learning method and the procedures of the study were explained to the students, and then the learning achievement of the subjects was measured as a pretest. The students were then given 2 weeks WBI utilizing the courseware. A post-test which included the pre-test learning achievement questionnaire and a survey of learning motivation and attitudes toward drug were given two weeks after the education was completed. The data analysis was done using SPSS/PC. Paired t-test was used to analyze the differences between the pre-test and post-test scores for learning achievement. The results of the analysis are as follows: There were significant differences in learning achievement between the pre-test and post-test(t=-18.62, p=0.000). The hypothesis, that learning achievement will be higher, after the class has used the courseware, than before was supported. The scores for learning motivation and attitudes toward drugs were also higher than the results of existing studies. In conclusion, this study suggests that WBI is an effective learning method in the prevention of drug abuse for adolescents as it can be used for self-learning and repeated learning as assisted instruction. Recommendation would be given that further research needs to be develped in the courseware by cognitive learning style and by multimedia courseware and virtual reality system.
In the information oriented society, a good lesson helps learners to develop self-learning ability. To give a good lesson, teachers should teach with details in learning contents that learners can understand easily, not with abstract and generalized concepts in the textbook. And they also should find the effective instructional media to give students the learning contents. Since the newspaper carries the most current and up-to-date source of information about various fields, if it is used as the teaching material in the classroom, it can help students to learn useful and practical knowledge. Therefore, newspapers are so-called 'living textbook'. NIE which enables students to enhance their ability to utilize the information and to learn wisdom about life, is already actively applied to the educational activities. And e-learning system and the electronic newspaper that make learning happen to anyone anytime anywhere, appears with the advancements in information technology and changing educational paradigm. This changed circumstance make the field and the way of NIE enlarge to e-NIE. e-NIE is the educational media that helps the learners to learn the way of learning. But the study about e-NIE through designing a teaching plan systematically has not been made completely. Therefore, this research aims to find out the characteristics of e-NIE and the effective way of designing a teaching plan that fits the characteristics of e-NIE.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of students' formation of evolutionary concept and learning on the development of digital teaching materials. The explanation of biological evolution, which explains the changes that living organisms undergo over a long period of time, can provide various contents for use in a book. The production and editing of images in digital textbooks would provide explanation of difficult concepts in a fun way. For this study, we designed instructional materials consisting of four class hours using iBooks Author, an electronic book authoring tool based on the 5E learning cycle model. In order to verify the effectiveness of the developed digital textbooks, we compared instructions by the general textbooks to those using digital textbooks. Both teaching through general textbook form and teaching using digital textbook materials had a significant effect on the formation of the concept of evolution, but interest in biological science and evolution increased significantly only in the group taught using digital textbooks. As a result of testing the instruction effect by the digital textbooks by classifying the students by type, the group that is familiar with smart devices was more active and interesting in class depending on digital literacy. The satisfaction of the developed digital textbooks also showed a positive score in the group with high digital literacy. The results of this study suggest that the development of digital textbooks in the unit of evolution can be an instructional material for easy and interesting approach to difficult concepts in the teaching of evolution.
