  • Overhead transmission lines are classified by the number of sub conductors per phase. Korean transmission lines use two, four, or six-conductor bundle. Bundle of conductors must have spacers or spacer dampers which keep the proper distance between sub conductors. They can prevent conductors from being vibrated or twisted due to the wind. As for the two-conductor bundle, alternating current flow generates absorption force between sub conductors which may cause a collision of sub conductors. To prevent sub conductors from being vibrated, twisted, and collided, spacer or spacer damper installation method is designed considering vibration characteristics of sub conductors. We have spacer installation method for four or six-conductor bundle lines. However, we don't have it for two-conductor bundle ones. So we have installed spacers at regular intervals in two-conductor bundle lines, and it caused rigid body oscillation of conductors due to the wind which made a flashover between conductors. This paper introduces a vibration characteristic analysis of two-conductor bundle and proposes a spacer installation method for two-conductor bundle lines.

  • A conductor has been produced according to IEC standard and low voltage electrical facility has been installed according to IEC 60364. But because of many related and varied standards, it is difficult to apply to design and inspect for electrical equipment. We researched the necessity of design guide which is detailed and systematization from survey. For detailed design guide, we suggest application method and review items at calculations for voltage drop calculations on low voltage feeder by IEC 60364, BS 7671 standard and Consumer's Electrical Installation Guide.

  • The bending moment and settlement of the slab track can be reduced by the installation of small numbers of micro piles beneath the track. This paper presents the effect of micro pile installation on the reduction of bending moment and settlement of slab track, estimated by a numerical method. The slab track is modeled as a plate based on the Mindlin's plate theory, and soil and piles are modeled as Winkler and coupled springs, respectively. The stiffness of piles is obtained by the approximate analytical method proposed by Randolph and Wroth. and the modulus of subgrade reaction is adopted to evaluate Winkler spring constant. From the analysis results, the effect of the micro pile installation is significant to considerably reduce the settlement of slab track. However, for the proper reduction of bending moments in a slab track, the pile arrangement should be reasonably taken into account to prevent the stress concentration at pile location.

  • In the construction industry, fatal accidents related to scaffolds frequently occur. To prevent such accidents, scaffolds should be carefully monitored for their safety status. However, manual observation of scaffolds is time-consuming and labor-intensive. This paper proposes a method that automatically analyzes the installation status of scaffold joints based on images acquired from a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Using a deep learning-based object detection algorithm (YOLOv5), scaffold joints and joint components are detected. Based on the detection result, a two-stage rule-based classifier is used to analyze the joint installation status. Experimental results show that joints can be classified as safe or unsafe with 98.2 % and 85.7 % F1-scores, respectively. These results indicate that the proposed method can effectively analyze the joint installation status in UAV-acquired scaffold images.

  • In this study, structural stability of large diameter high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe during installation was numerically investigated in order to investigate the effect of concrete collar dimension, water depth and tension (pulling force). From the numerical simulation results, the total stress of HDPE pipe with designed concrete collar was within 2.5%, so the total weight of concrete collar for sinking of HDPE is important rather than concrete collar dimension. Furthermore, the tension area for possible installation is decreased as the air filling rate is increased. Therefore, it is important to calculate the reasonable tension range before actual installation for safe installation of HDPE pipe.
