Replacement policy of a degradation system is investigated by incorporating the loss function. Loss function is defined by the deviation of the value of quality characteristic from its target value, which determines the loss cost. Cost function is comprised of the inspection cost, replacement cost and loss cost. Two cost minimization problems are formulated : 1)determination of an optimal inspection period given the state for the replacement and 2)determination of an optimal state for replacement under fixed inspection period. Simulation analysis is performed to observe the variation of total cost with respect to the variation of the parameters of loss function and inspection cost, respectively As a result, parameters of loss function are seen to be the most sensitive to the total cost. On the contrary, inspection cost is observed to be insensitive. This study can be applied to the replacement policy of a degradation system which has to produce the quality critical product.

This paper presents a preventive maintenance model for determining the preventive replacement period of a system in which a failure rate is affected by the cumulative damage of fault and inspection. Especially, the failure rate function is considered to be a function of the cumulative damage of the fault and inspection time. Types of replacement considered are preventive replacement and failure replacement. Failure rate and expected cost function between replacement are derived. An optimal policy is obtained that minimizes the average cost per unit time for preventive replacement, failure replacement, inspection and repair.
In this paper, we address an optimization problem for minimizing the inspection and rework cost in an inspection-rework system, which forms a network of nodes including a K-stage inspection system, storage areas for items, a source inspection shop, and a re-inspection shop. We assume that (n, 0) acceptance sampling is performed in the source inspection shop and that only 100(1-r)% of items of rejected lots are re-inspected in the re-inspection shop. Since all the nodes are interrelated, in order to formulate our steady-state objective function, we make a steady-state network flow analysis between nodes, and derive both the steady-state amount of flows between nodes and the steady-state fraction defectives by solving a nonlinear balance equation. Finally we provide some fundamental properties and an enumeration procedure for determining the optimal values of (K, r) which both minimizes our objective function and attains a given target average outgoing quality.
In this paper, we readdress the optimization problem for minimizing the inspection cost in a back-light unit inspection system, which forms a network including a K-stage inspection system, a source inspection shop, and a re-inspection shop. In order to formulate our objective function when the system is in a steady state, assuming that the number of nonconforming items in a lot follows a binomial distribution when a lot is formed for inspection, we make a steady-state network flow analysis between shops, and derive the steady-state amount of flows between nodes and the steady-state fraction defectives by solving a nonlinear balance equation. Finally we provide some fundamental properties and an enumeration method for determining an optimal value of K which minimizes our objective function. In addition, we compare our results numerically with previous ones.
There are many kinds of the mathematical models which are developed for choosing the economic inspection plan. The aim of this paper is to classify these mathematical models, and to examine their characteristics. The mathematical models for choosing the economic inspection plan can be classified into three groups. The first of it is the break-even analysis, the second group of the model is to choose the inspection plan so as to minimize total sampling inspection cost function, and the third group of it is the model to choose the inspection plan which maximize the profit function of the sampling inspection. As a result of examining the characteristics of this classified group of the models the model to choose the inspection plan which minimize total sampling inspection cost is more economical than the other models.
In recent years, the safety of customers and the demand for rights to be protected from the risk have become stronger than ever day by day, and the function concerning product liability(PL) and quality assurance(QA) has been emphasized. Basically these functions can be obtained by inspection and there is the single rectifying sampling inspection for attribute (KSA-3105) as an existing method. But we can not say this method is good enough because of limitations in the range of applications and the approximate design of inspection methods which can not meet the rapidity and accuracy of quality information transfer according to the maturity of information period. Therefore, in this paper, a new algorithm is developed which can design the accurate inspection method by using the linear cost function that has not been considered in the existing inspection methods. Also in addition to this, a optimal rectifying sampling inspection plan, contributing to minimize the total costs, can be developed by programming the algorithm developed in this study and it can be applied to any field having many processes almost limitlessly.
In this paper, we design sampling inspections and service capacities simultaneously for multi-products. Products are supplied in batches after rectifying inspections, that is, rejected lot is subject to total inspection and defective products are reworked to good ones. When supplied, all defective products are uncovered and returned to service. Particularly, we extend Kim [1] by introducing the fixed costs of providing services and show that the cost function of a product is no longer linear or convex in terms of the level of service provision. We develop a framework for a product to deal with this joint design problem and a dynamic programming algorithm for multi-products which allocates the given number of the total service capacities among products with the considerably smaller computations than the total number of possible allocations.
A band function model paired comparison(BMPC) method is a kind of paired comparison methods. Considering that human has ambiguity, the BMPC method uses a monotonous increase function with the width as the human judgment characteristic. Since panel´s judgments do not always have enough response, it is very important to examine inspection abilities of each panel. In this study. We focus on the difference of band functions in each panel, which is the characteristic function of judgment in the BMPC method, and examine the method of obtaining panels inspection abilities. Three kinds of evaluation functions, "the dispersion of judgments", "the resolution", and "the difference of the judgments" are defined from Panel´s characteristic function of ...

In this paper, we address an optimization problem and a case study for minimizing the cost of inspections incurred throughout an inspection system, which includes a K-stage inspection system, a source inspection shop, and a re-inspection shop. In order to formulate the inspection cost function, we make a time-based flow analysis between nodes (or shops), and derive the limiting sizes of flows between nodes and limiting defective rates by solving a set of nonlinear balance equations. It turns out that the number of items reworked throughout the inspection system is invariant irrespective of the defective rate of items moved through the K-stage inspection system. Hence we define the inspection cost as the total number of items inspected, and we provide an enumeration method for determining an optimal value of K which minimizes the number of items inspected.

In this paper, the analysis of inspection period bases on reliability is suggested in the field of traction power system. Even though there are several maintenance models, the most commonly used maintenance assessment has been focused on time based maintenance in real traction power systems. The maintenance intervals are selected on the basis of long-time experience. It ensures high availability and exact planning of staff. Reliability centered maintenance, which evaluates criticality and severity of each failure mode, achieves the operation, maintenance, and cost-effective improvement that will manage the risks of equipment. This paper deals with electrification in railway inspection frequency and applied reliability based inspection frequency instead of constant intervals. The distribution function of failure rate in traction power system belongs to Weibull function. Also, the fault data and the number of installed equipments for electrifications are collected. The failure history is investigated and classified in detail. Though these complicated procedures, it contribute to extend equipment lifetime and to reduce maintenance costs.
