The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of exports on Korea's employment and to decompose driving factors of change in Korea's employment embodied in exports (EEX). This study uses a multi-regional input-output (MRIO) and structural decomposition analysis (SDA) for empirical analysis, and uses a dataset of World Input-Output Tables (WIOTs) and Socio-Economic Accounts (SEAs) from the World Input-Output Database (WIOD). The main findings of the empirical results are summarized as follows. First, Korea's EEX continues to increase and Korea's share of EEX compared to total employment shows an upward trend. However, Korea's employment inducement coefficient of value-added exports showed a downward trend during the 2000-2014 period. Second, final demand from three countries (China, the United States, and the Rest of the World (RoW)) has affected a significant portion of Korea's EEX. Finally, from the results of the SDA, the effect of changes in final demand was the most important driving factor for the increase in Korea's EEX. Based on the results of this empirical analysis, this study discusses useful policy implications that could increase domestic employment in Korea.
The import content of exports (ICE) is defined as the amount of foreign input embodied in one unit of export, and it has been used as a measure of the degree of integration into the global production network. In this paper, we suggest an alternative measure based on the decomposition of gross output and imports into the contributions of final demand terms. This measure considers the manner in which a country manages its domestic production base (gross output) and utilizes the foreign sector (imports) simultaneously and can thus be regarded as a more comprehensive measure than ICE. Korea's input-output tables in 1970-2018 are used in this paper. These tables were rearranged according to the same 26-industry classification so that these measures can be computed with time-series continuity and so that the results can be interpreted clearly. The results obtained in this paper are based on extended time-series data and are expected to be reliable and robust. The suggested indicators were applied to these tables, and, based on the results we conclude that the overall importance of the global economy in Korea's economic strategy has risen and that the degree of Korea's integration into the global production network increased over the entire period. This paper also shows that ICE incorrectly measures the movement of the degree of integration into the global production network in some periods.
This study aims to answer two questions using input-output decomposition analysis: 1) Have emerging Asian economies decoupled? 2) What are the sources of structural changes in gross outputs and value-added of emerging Asian economies related to the first question? The main findings of the study are as follows: First, since 1990, there has been a trend of increasing dependence on exports to extra-regions such as G3 and the ROW, indicating no sign of "decoupling", but rather an increasing integration of emerging Asian countries into global trade. Second, there is a contrasting feature in the sources of structural changes between non-China emerging Asia and China. Dependence of non-China emerging Asia on intra-regional trade has increased in line with strengthening economic integration in East Asia, whereas China has disintegrated from the region. Therefore, it can be said that China has contributed to no sign of decoupling of emerging Asia as a whole.

In this paper, we transformed the bilinear filter into an equivalent linear multichannel filter and derived QR decomposition based recursive least squares algorithms for bilinear lattice filters. We also defined order update relation of the forward and the backward input vectors by using the channel decomposition. The forward and the backward data matrices were defined by using the forward and the backward input vectors and orthogonalized with the QR decomposition. we can obtain the lattice equations of the bilinear filters by using the channel decomposition. we can be derived the lattice equations of the bilinear filters using this decomposition process which are the same as the lattice equations derived by Baik, we can use the coefficient transformation algorithm proposed by Baik. We derived the equation error and the output error algorithm of the QRD based RLS bilinear lattice algorithm. Also, we evaluated the performance of the proposed algorithms through the system identification of the bilinear system.
This paper introduces an approach to identify the total energy consumption with subsequent $CO_2$ emissions, for both industrial and non-industrial sectors. Statistical data for 2005 were compiled in a national account system to construct an energy input-output table for investigating the influence between energy demand and supply activities. The methodological approach was applied to South Korea. Twelve types of energy and fifteen industrial and non-industrial sectors are formed as the compartments of the input-output table. The results provided quantitative details of the energy consumption and identified the significant contributions from each sector. An impact analysis on the $CO_2$ emissions for the demand side was also conducted for comparison with the supply side.

In this paper, it is clearly shown that the two well-known necessary and sufficient conditions mp n as generic static output feedback pole-assignment and mp + d(m+p) n+d as generic minimum d-th order dynamic output feedback pole-assignment on complex field, unbelievably, do not match up each other in strictly proper linear systems. For the analysis, a diagram analysis is newly created (which is defined by the analysis of 'convoluted rectangular/dot diagrams' constructed via node-branch conversion of the signal flow graphs of output feedback gain loops). Under this diagram analysis, it is proved that the minimum d-th order dynamic output feedback compensator for pole-assignment in m-input, p-output, n-th order systems is quantitatively decomposed into static output feedback compensator and its associated d number of arbitrary 1st order dynamic elements in augmented (m+d)-input, (p+d)-output, (n+d)-th order systems. Total configuration of the mismatched data is presented in a Table.
In this paper, we propose a fixed-complexity sphere encoder (FSE) for multi-user multi-input multi-output (MU-MIMO) systems. The proposed FSE accomplishes a scalable tradeoff between performance and complexity. Also, because it has a parallel tree-search structure, the proposed encoder can be easily pipelined, leading to a tremendous reduction in the precoding latency. The complexity of the proposed encoder is also analyzed, and we propose two techniques that reduce it. Simulation and analytical results demonstrate that in a $4{\times}4$ MU-MIMO system, the proposed FSE requires only 11.5% of the computational complexity needed by the conventional QR decomposition with M-algorithm encoder (QRDM-E). Also, the encoding throughput of the proposed encoder is 7.5 times that of the QRDM-E with tolerable degradation in the BER performance, while achieving the optimum diversity order.

Spatial multiuser access is investigated for the reverse link of multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. In particular, we consider two alternative a aches to spatial multiuser access that adopt the same detection algorithm at the base station: one is a closed-loop approach based on singular value decomposition (SVD) of the channel matrix, whereas the other is an open-loop approach based in space-time block coding (STBC). We develop multiuser detection algorithms for these two spatial multiuser access schemes based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. Then, we compare the bit error rate (BER) performance of the two schemes and a single-user MIMO scheme. Interestingly, it is found that the STBC approach can provide much better BER performance than the SVD approach as well as than a single-user MIMO scheme.

In this paper, for the single s-a-E fault detected in a triangular cellular permutation network (TCPN), we propose a method which can tolerate a fault by reconfiguring the netowrk and analyze the possibilities of the reconfiguration. The network is set up through iterative decomposition of a permutation into the right or left coset. For the s-a-E fault of a cell which is to be transpositioned for an increasing order mapping, we cna reconfigure it merely by switching te decomposition scheme from right coset to left coset or vice versa. Also for a decreasing order mapping, we make a detour around the faulty cell. Reconfiguring with the redundant connectivity of a TCPN, we could realize form 17% to 90% of the permutation for the number of inputs from 4 to 40. REconfiguration of the network by exchanging the first input with the last input and the first output with the last output resulted in more than 99% realization of the permutation. Also with the exchange of all inputs and outputs with neighboring cells, we could have 100% realization of the permutation.
Purpose - Global production chains and their impacts on economic growth have drawn extensive attention from researchers. Close relationships among global production chains, export and economic growth have been illuminated, as evidenced by the fast and stable economic growth of East Asian economies. These economies perform various roles within global production chains using offshoring, in which the impact of import on domestic gross output is as strong as that of export. The impact of import on economic growth would depend on whether imported inputs substitute or complement domestic inputs production, which is likely to vary according to individual countries' functions within global production chains. The economic growth of concerned countries would also be diverse. However, little attention has been paid to the impact brought by imports compared to its significance. Design/methodology - The principal methodology used in this paper is structural decomposition analysis (SDA), widely chosen to elucidate the impact of various factors on domestic gross output using input-output tables. This paper extracts trade data of six Asian economies from the World Input-Output Database (WIOD) 2016 release that covers 43 countries for the period 2000-2014. The extracted data is then categorised into 37 sectors. First, this paper calculates the Feenstra-Hanson Offshoring Index (OSI) of each country. It then applies SDA to measure the changes in each economy's gross output, export, import input coefficients, and domestic input coefficients. Finally, after taking the first difference from pooled time-series data, it estimates the correlations between imported input coefficients and OSI using the ordinary least square (OLS) method. Findings - The main findings of this paper can be summarised as follows. Firstly, all six countries have increasingly engaged in global production chains, as evidenced by the growing size of OSI. Secondly, there are negative correlations in five countries except Japan, with sectoral differences. Thirdly, changes in import input coefficients are not negative in all six countries, indicating that offshoring does not necessarily substitute for domestic inputs production but does complement it and, therefore, fosters their economic growth. This is observed in China, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan. Offshoring has led to an increase in the use of imported inputs, which has, in turn, stimulated domestic inputs production in these countries. Originality/value - While existing studies focus on the role of export in evaluating the impact of participating global production chains, this paper explicitly examines the unexplored impact of import on domestic gross output by considering both the substitution and the complementary effect, using the WIOD. The findings of this paper suggest that Asian economies have achieved fast and stable economic growth not only through successful export management but also through effective import management within global production chains. This paper recommends that the Korean government and enterprises carefully choose offshoring strategies to minimise disruption to domestic production chains or foster them.
