  • This paper presents a 1.6[kW]class single phase high power factor(HPF) pulse width modulation(PWM) boost rectifier featuring soft commutation of the active switches at zero current. It incorporates the most desirable properties of conventional PWM and soft switching resonant techniques. The input current shaping is achieved with average current mode control and continuous inductor current mode. This new PWM converter provides zero current turn on and turn off of the active switches, and it is suitable for high power applications employing insulated gate bipolar transistors(IGBT'S). The principle of operation, the theoretical analysis, a design example, and experimental results from laboratory prototype rated at 1.6[kW] with 400[Vdc] output voltage are presented. The measured efficiency and the power factor were 96.2[%] and 0.99[%], respectively, with an input current Total Harmonic Distortion(THD) equal to 3.94[%], for an input voltage with THD equal to 3.8[%], at rated load.

  • The AC-DC converter, which has three-phase AC power as input and isolated DC power as output is used for the regulated DC power supply of the telecommunication power processing system for several kilowatt class applications. The conventional DC power supply for the telecommunication power system comprises a PWM rectifier with sine-wave shaping input current unity power factor and a DC/DC converter connected to the PWM converter, which obtains DC 48[V]. Since power passes through these two power stage converters, the conversion power loss is difficult to provide high efficiency. To resolve these problems, this paper presents a new PWM rectified as a 1-stage power conversion method. It simulation and experimental results as proved from a practical point of view that 92.1[%]of conversion efficiency and input current which can meet harmonics regulation of the Class-A in IEC61000-3-3 are achieved.

BF 컨버터의 역률 개선에 관한 연구 (A study on the power factor improvement of the Boost Forward Converter)

  • 본 논문에서는 BF 컨버터의 Active PFC 시스템을 구성하고, 전력 변환시 입력 전류를 전원 전압과 동상인 정현파로 제어하며 직류 출력 전압을 제어하기 위한 PWM-PFM 제어 기법을 사용하여 역률을 개선하였다. FET와 IGBT를 이용하여 본 논문에서 제시한 Boost 컨버터와 인버터 회로를 구성하였고, 제안된 Boost 컨버터의 제어 회로는 마이크로프로세서 80C196으로 구성하였다. 또한 입력 전압이 30V이고, Boost 인덕터가 1.1 mH일 때 정격 출력은 전압 50V, 전류 IA, 듀티비 (Duty Ratio) 0.5 이상으로 하였다. 부하 저항의 변화에 따른 전압 변화를 PWM-PFM 제어 기법을 이용하여 제어하였고, 전류 성형 기법을 이용하여 역률이 0.96 가지 개선됨을 실험으로써 입증하였다.

$S^4-PFC$ 에서 보조회로를 이용한 입력 전류 파형의 개선 (Input Current Shaping in $S^4-PFC$ Converter with Auxiliary Switch)

  • 본 논문은 궤환 권션을 갖는 $S^4-PFC$ 컨버터에서 기존의 DC 버스 전압 제한 능력과 높은 효율을 유지하면서 입력 전류 파형을 개선시킬 수 있는 저비용의 보조회로펀 제안하였다. 제안한 컨버터를 검증하지 위하여 궤환 권선을 갖는 컨버터를 분석하였다. 제안한 컨버터의 성능응 입증하기 위해 상용 라인 입력 전압범위에서 5[V], 65[W] 출력과 스위칭 주파수 100[kHz]에서 동작하는 컨버터 설계하였다. 그리고 실험을 통하여 기존 컨버터에 비하여 라인 전류 파형의 첨두값이 50[%] 감소하고 라인 주기에서 전력이용률이 증가하였다.

  • To reach high areal density, less track pitch is expected and more servo bandwidth is required. One approach to overcoming the problem is by using dual stage servo system. In this system, a voice coil motor (VCM) is used as the primary stage while a milliactuator is used as the secondary stage. We have suggested new milliactuator based on the shear mode of piezoelectric elements to drive the head suspension assembly. In this paper, we introduce controller design method, PQ method. PQ method reduces the controller design problem for DISO(dual-input/single-output) systems to two standard controller design problems for SISO(single-input/single-output) problems. The first part of PQ method directly address the issue of actuator output contribution, and the second part allows the use of traditional loop shaping to achieve the overall system performance. This paper shows how to employ the PQ method to meet aggressive close-loop performance specifications for a disk drive system with a VCM and piezoelectric milliactuator.

오버헤드셔틀시스템의 동특성해석 및 잔류진동제어 (Dynamics Analysis and Residual Vibration Control of an Overhead Shuttle System)

  • This paper discusses the dynamics and control problem of an overhead shuttle system (OSS), which is a critical part of the automated container terminal at a port. The main purpose of the OSS is efficient automated transport function of containers, which also requires high precision and safety. A major difference between the OSS and the conventional container crane is the configuration of the cables for hoisting the spreader. A mathematical model of the OSS is developed here for the first time, which results in an eight-pole system. Also, open loop control methods (trapezoidal and notch-type velocity profiles) are investigated so that the command input to the overhead shuttle produces the minimum possible sway of the payload. Simulation results show that the vibration suppression capability of the OSS is superior to the conventional overhead container crane, which is partially due to the cable configuration.

입력 범위를 개선한 FDPA 방식의 3차 시그마-델타 변조기 (3rd SDM with FDPA Technique to Improve the Input Range)

  • 본 논문은 개선된 입력 범위를 갖는 FDPA(Feedback Delay Pass Addition) 방식의 3차 SDM(Sigma-Delta Modulator) 구조를 제안한다. 기존의 구조는 2차 SDM 구조에서 디지털 딜레이 패스만을 추가하여 3차 전달함수를 구현하였지만, 첫 번째 적분기로 피드백 하는 패스가 많아짐에 따라 입력 범위가 매우 작은 단점이 있다. 그러나 제안된 구조는 첫 번째 적분기로 피드백 하는 디지털 패스를 2차 적분기로 피드백 하여 입력 범위를 9dB 개선할 수 있었다 이를 이중 샘플링 기법을 통해 연산 증폭기 한 개 만으로 3차 SC SDM을 구현하였다. 공급전압 1.8V, 신호대역폭 20KHz, 오디오 대역 샘플링 주파수 2.8224MHz 조건에서 $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정을 이용하여 제안한 SDM을 시뮬레이션한 결과, SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio)은 83.8dB, 전력소비는 $700{\mu}W$, Dynamic Range는 82.8dB이다.

실시간 분산 열연 두께제어 시스템의 설계 및 현장적용 (A Real-time Distributed AGC System for a Hot Strip Mill)

  • This paper describes a new 14-CPU real-time distributed automatic gauge control (AGC) system for POSCO's No. 2 Hot Strip Mill at Pohang Works. The new AGC system has adopted gaugemeter AGC, Monitor AGC, and roll gap disturbance compensators. The computer system for the new AGC system has been developed based on VMEbus computer systems and a commercial real-time operating system. A VMEbus computer system is also used for the position servo control of hydraulic cylinders. All the application programs and input/output signals have been reasonably distributed over the control computer systems for the maximum reliability and effectiveness of the system. The new AGC system has been successfully used for the No. 2 Hot Strip Mill.

불확실한 파라미터를 갖는 시스템을 위한 근궤적법을 이용한 지능형 PID 제어기 설계 (Intelligent PID Controller Design Using Root-Locus Analysis for Systems with Parameter Uncertainties)

  • In this research, a simple technique for designing PID controller, which guarantees robust stability for two-mass systems with parameter uncertainties as well as rigid-body behavior and zero steady-state error,is described. As well, such a PID controller is designed to mate two important frequencies, at which the given system is excited, very close so that an appropriate reference profile generated by using command shaping techniques can cover those two frequencies. Root-locus analysis. which shows traces of closed-loop poles for the given system, is used to design this PID controller. Finally, feedforward controller is added to improve tracking performance of the closed-loop system. Simulation for a system with a flexible mode and parameter uncertainties is executed to prove the feasibility of this technique.

H infinity Controller Design for the Reactor Power Control System

  • The robust controller for the nuclear reactor power control system is designed. The reactor model is set up by use of the point kinetics equations and the singly lumped energy balance equations. Since the model is different from the actual plant, the controller which makes the system robust is necessary. The perturbation of the actual plant is investigated with respect to several possible sources of uncertainty. Then the overall system is configured into the two port model and the $H_{\infty}$ controller is designed. The loop shaping and the permissible control rod speed are considered as the design constraints. The designed $H_{\infty}$ controller provides the sufficient margins for the robustness, and the system output as well as the control input satisfy their relevant requirements.
