  • This paper presents the sinusoidal tracking controller in error to eliminate the steady state control error and to improve the transient characteristics for input current in voltage source PWM converter with input current estimation. The estimation method of input current values and configuration of controller are described. DC output voltage is controlled by PI controller, and sinusoidal tracking current controller which tracks directly AC input current is used as input current controller. The sinusoidal tracking current controller can be used without any coordinate transformation algorithms. It is proved that the steady state deviation of input current reduces to zero and the proposed control system is not affected by input voltage from transfer functions of input current control system. The validity of proposed scheme is verified by simulations and experimental results for load resister and input voltage variation.

  • Input delay is frequently encountered in the practical systems since measurement delay and computational delay can be represented by input delay. In this viewpoint, this paper deals with the robust control problem of input delayed systems with structured uncertainty. Robust stability conditions are provided in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) and it is shown that the proposed conditions can give less conservative maximum bound of input delay guaranteeing robust stability.

  • This paper proposes a dynamic observer that is applicable to linear time-invariant systems subject to unknown input, The proposed method utilities Che output feedback control structure to design unknown input observer. We name it as the dynamic unknown input observer(UIO). The dynamic UIO can be designed easily over the usual static UIO, and the system response could be improved.

  • An adaptive filter for noise cancellation of ECG Is proposed. An adaptive noise canceller using the least mean squares algorithm Is used to reduce unwanted noise. An adaptive filter for nolse cancella lion minimizes the mean-square error between a primary input and a reference input. A primary input is the noisy ECG, and a reference input is a noise that Is correlated in some way with the noise in the primary input or a signal that is correlated only with ECG in the primary input.

  • A method of obtaining a control input to reduce residual vibration was developed for nonlinear time-varying systems moving along pre-determined two dimensional paths. First, the nonlinear system equation was solved with nominal input then linearized by nominal response which is defined at equilibrium point. Next an additional input can be obtained by solving the linearized equation that should satisfied the required boundary conditions. Residual vibration reduction was experimentally verified by applying the control input, which is sum of nominal and additional input, to a moving pendulum whose length is varying time.

  • A new interacting multiple model (IMM) method using intelligent input estimation (IIE) is proposed to track a maneuvering target. In the proposed method, the acceleration level for each sub-model is determined by IIE-the estimation of the unknown acceleration input by a fuzzy system using the relation between maneuvering filter residual and non-maneuvering one. The genetic algorithm (GA) is utilized to optimize a fuzzy system for a sub-model within a fixed range of acceleration input. Then, multiple models are composed of these fuzzy systems, which are optimized for different ranges of acceleration input. In computer simulation for an incoming ballistic missile, the tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of the input estimation (IE) technique and the adaptive interacting multiple model (AIMM) method.

  • In most physical processes, the transfer function includes time-delay, and in the general distributed control system using computer network, there exists inherent time-delay caused by the spatial separation between controllers and actuators. This work deals with the synthesis of a discrete-time controller for a nonlinear system and proposes a new effective method to compensate the influence of input time-delay. The controller is synthesized by using input/output linearization. Under the circumstance that input time-delay exists, the system response has more overshoot and tends to diverge. For these reasons, the controller has to produce future input value that will be needed for the system. In order to calculate the future input value, some predictors are adopted. Using the discretization via Euler's method, numerical simulations about the Van der Pol system are performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.

  • An input power estimation method of a three-phase inverter for the high-efficiency operation of AC motors is proposed. Measuring devices, such as DC link voltage and input current sensors, are required to obtain the input power of the inverter. In the proposed method, the input power of the inverter can be estimated without the input current sensor by using the phase current information of the AC motor and the switching pattern of the inverter. The proposed method is more robust to parameter error than conventional method. The validity of the input power estimation method is verified through experiments conducted on a 1 kW permanent-magnet synchronous motor drive system.

  • This paper presents the problem of controlling asynchronous sequential machines in the presence of input disturbances, which may be also regarded as an adversary in a game theoretic setting. The main objective is to develope a new methodology for including unpredictable behavior of input disturbance into models of asynchronous machines. The input disturbance, representing uncontrollable noise input, is embedded into a new model of asynchronous machines in form of input/state finite state machines. It is shown that the proposed modeling preserves the fundamental model and well-pose of asynchronous machines. The reachability matrix, an important performance index of asynchronous machines, is also adapted according to input disturbance and will be used for constructing corrective controllers in the companion paper.
