  • This study proposes a performance model of a shared bus multi-processor system and analyzes the effect of input/output types on system performance and overload of shared resources. This system performance model reflects the memory reference time in relation to the effect of input/output types on shared resources and the input/output processing time in relation to the input/output processor, disk buffer, and device standby places. In addition, it demonstrates the contribution of input/output types to system performance for comprehensive analysis of system performance. As the concept of workload in the probability theory and the presented model are utilized, the result of operating and analyzing the model in various conditions of processor capability, cache miss ratio, page fault ratio, disk buffer hit ratio (input/output processor and controller), memory access time, and input/output block size. A simulation is conducted to verify the analysis result.

  • This study has two objectives. One is developing the runoff model for Hoe-Dong Reservoir basin located at the upstream of Su-Young River in Pusan. To develop the runoff model, basic hydrological parameters - curve number to find effective rainfall, and storage coefficient, etc. - should be estimated. In this study, the effective rainfall was calculated by the SCS method, and the storage coefficient used in the Clark watershed routing was cited from the report of P.E.B. The other is the derivation of transfer function for Hoe-Dong Reservoir basin. The linear, discrete, input-output model which contained six parameters was selected, and the parameters were estimated by the least square method and the correlation function method, respectively. Throughout this study, rainfall and flood discharge data were based on the field observation in 1981.8.22 - 8.23 (typhoon Gladys). It was observed that the Clark watershed routing regenerated the flood hydrograph of typhoon Gladys very well, and this fact showed that the estimated hydrological parameters were relatively correct. Also, the calculated hydrograph by the linear, discrete, input-output model showed good agreement with the regenerated hydrograph at Hoe-Dong Dam site, so this model can be applicable to other small urban areas. Key Words : runoff, effective rainfall, SCS method, clark watershed iou상ng, hydrological parameters, parameter estimation, least square method, correlation function method, input-output model, typhoon gladys.

  • This paper has two purposes. The first is to suggest the new and simple method to derive a regional input-output model from the national input-output table published by the Bank of Korea. The interregional input-output table has not been devised in spite of its potential use while the national table has been made every five years with the revised version during each five years. Second, this paper aims to derive Kangwon interregional input-output model from the national model using the regional supply proportion of industry and to analyze the effect of medical tourism industry on the regional economy of Kangwon Province. The paper measures, in particular, the effect of medical tourism industry on the financial self-sufficiency of Kangwon Province using the estimated output elasticity of tax revenue with the autoregressive distributed lag scheme ADL(1,1) in which the dependent variable and the single explanatory variable are each lagged once.

  • This study attempts to develop a stochastic system model for extension and prediction of monthly runoff series in river basins where the observed runoff data are insufficient although there are long-term hydrometeorological records. For this purpose, univariate models of a seasonal ARIMA type are derived from the time series analysis of monthly runoff, monthly precipitation and monthly evaporation data with trend and periodicity. Also, a causual model of multiple input-single output relationship that take monthly precipitation and monthly evaporation as input variables-monthly runoff as output variable is built by the cross-correlation analysis of each series. The performance of the univariate model and the multiple input-output model were examined through comparisons between the historical and the generated monthly runoff series. The results reveals that the multiple input-output model leads to the improved accuracy and wide range of applicability when extension and prediction of monthly runoff series is required.

  • This paper presents the control of input/output automata. The input/output automata provides an appropriate model for discrete event systems consisting of concurrently-operating components. Ramadge and Wonham's supervisor controller can be transformed into the controllter of input/output automata. Using input/output automata, the modelling can be more realistic and concurrent discrete event systems can be controlled easily.

  • A model analysis method has been developed in the paper. The method estimates the modal parameters of multiple input-output systems, assesses their quality, and seperates structural modes form computation ones. The modal parameter extraction algorithm is the least squares method with a finite difference model relating input and output time data. The quality of the estimated system model can be assessed in narrow frequency bands by comparing the measured and model predicted responses in time domain with the aid of digital filters. Structural modes can be effectively separated from computational ones using the convergence factor which represents the pole convergence rate. The modal analysis method has been applied to simulated and experimental vibration data to evaluate its utility and limitations.

  • ATM was adopted as the switching and multiplexing technique for BISDN which aims at transmitting traffics with various characteristics in a unified network. To construct these ATM networks, the most important aspect is the design of the switching system with high performance and different service capabilities. In this paepr, we analyze the performance of an input and output queueing switch with preemptive priority which is considered to be most suitable for ATM networks. For the analysis of an input queue, we model each input queue as two separate virtual input queues for each priority class and we approximage them asindependent Geom/Geom/1 queues. And we model a virtual HOL queue which consists of HOL cells of all virtual input queues which have the same output address to obtain the mean service time at each virtual input queue. For the analysis of an output quque, we obtain approximately the arrival process into the output queue from the state of the virtual HOL queue. We use a Markov chain method to analyze these two models and obtain the maximum throughput of the switch and the mean queueing delay of cells. and analysis results are compared with simulation to verify that out model yields accurate results.

  • This paper studies the identification of a combustion model, which is used to design a linear controller of a steam generation quantity and harmful exhaust gases of a Refuse Incineration Plant(RIP). Even though the RIP has strong nonlinearities and complexities, it is identified as a MIMO parametric ARX model from experimental input-output data sets. Unknown model parameters are decided from experimental input-output data sets, using system identification algorithm based on Instrumental Variables(IV) method. It is shown that the identified model well approximates the input-output combustion characteristics.
