  • With the types and targets of cyber attacks expanding and with personal information leaks increasing, the quantitative demand for information security specialists has increased. The base for training the workforce has expanded accordingly, but joblessness and job-seeking still coexist. To resolve the gap between labor demand and supply, education and training systems that can supply demand quickly are needed. It takes a considerable amount of time for information security education and new manpower supply through universities and graduate schools to be reflected in the market. However, if information security retraining is carried out in terms of career development of information security and related workforce, the problem of lack of experts could be solved in a relatively short period. This paper investigates and analyzes the information security work of the information security workforce, the degree of skill level, the need for retraining, and the workplace migration experience; it also discusses the direction of career development retraining.

  • Following the heightened facilitation of information system in the education field, educational institutions encounter frequent information security infringement accidents. However there is insufficient education for persons in charge of information security duties in educational institutions. This study aims to analyze differences of knowledge and skills required for information security professionals in educational institutions by institution type, service area and duty. Based on the results of multidimensional scaling on survey data, this study presents the information security education framework for educational institutions.

  • As face-to-face education becomes difficult due to the spread of COVID-19, the use of e-learning content and virtual training is increasing. In the case of information security education, practice to learn response techniques is important, so simulation hacking and vulnerability analysis activities have been supported as virtual training for a long time. In order to increase the educational effect, contents should be designed similar to real situation, and learning activities to achieve the learning goals should be designed. In addition, excellent functions and scalability of the system supporting learning activities are required. The researcher developed an LMS evaluation index that supports non-face-to-face education by considering the key elements of non-face-to-face education and training. The developed evaluation index was applied to the information security education platform to verify its practical utility.

  • It is important to secure patient healthcare information in medical institutions. Education can enhance healthcare information security practice. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect size of the correlation between healthcare information security education and healthcare information security practice in medical institutions. Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis were used for this study. Data were collected from January 1, 2010 to July 31, 2019 through DBpia, RISS, NDSL. Four studies were eligible for inclusion in the analysis. Data were analyzed with R. The results of the Meta-Analysis demonstrated statistically significant large effect size of correlation with education and practice. Based on the results of this study, we will be able to understand the importance of healthcare information security education in medical institutions and use them as a basis for developing healthcare information security education programs.

  • Machine to machine (M2M) communications is the hottest issue in the standardization and industry area, it is also defined as machine-type communication (MTC) in release 10 of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). Recently, most research have focused on congestion control, sensing, computing, and controlling technologies and resource management etc., but there are few studies on security aspects. In this paper, we first introduce the threats that exist in M2M system and corresponding solutions according to 3GPP. In addition, we present several new security issues including group access authentication, multiparty authentication and data authentication, and propose corresponding solutions through modifying existing authentication protocols and cryptographic algorithms, such as group authentication and key agreement protocol used to solve group access authentication of M2M, proxy signature for M2M system to tackle authentication issue among multiple entities and aggregate signature used to resolve security of small data transmission in M2M communications.

  • The new STEAM program suggested in this paper aims at helping students to have interest in information security engineering experts and to design their career creatively through the project on future promising career. The program was designed to help teachers and students understand the jobs and capabilities required for information security experts through direction and execution of the information security expert project. Teaching tools of information security through simulation hacking play activities based on hexagon cell is designed to provide students with the chance to indirectly experience the job of a computer security expert through an unplugged education. Because the content of cyber security is unfamiliar and difficult to understand, the program is designed to allow students to access the key principle of the job, rather than to describe the technical part. Using this program, students will be able to communicate with each other to solve the problems, to have interest in computer security experts, and to design their careers in a creative manner.

  • Although various information and communication technologies occupy a place in daily life in the face of the fourth industrial revolution, the contents related to information security in elementary and secondary education courses are mainly related to personal information protection, and the contents and countermeasures of rapidly changing security threats are low in textbooks, and they are far behind the changes. To improve this, this paper suggests that education contents related to information security are included in elementary school real and middle school information textbooks, educational contents related to wireless network and PC security are included to cope with rapidly changing security threats that may arise from the age of the Internet of Things, non-face-to-face classes, and case-based information ethics education can be organized to eradicate curiosity about hacking. Through this paper, we will help prevent information security accidents by establishing basic security measures on our own and strengthening security awareness in the information age.

  • The recent convergence in ICT industry has created new businesses as well as other opportunities. However, it entails new convergence threat accompanied by security risks. Even though there are security professionals who are dealing with the situation, there is not enough human resource in risk management. Moreover, the amount of research that studies quality of education and training security personnel is not sufficient. This paper explores the curriculum of information security education in the private sector and reasons out fifteen standard curriculums in four professional fields categorized by job classification. In addition, it provides a weighted score table based on the evaluation indicator for the effective security education certificates in the private sector.
