  • This article investigates perceptions and use of Open Access journals (OAJs) by master's degree students in two universities in the southwestern part of Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was used in the study and the study population was comprised of 7,423 master's degree students in the University of Ibadan and 1,867 from Obafemi Awolowo University. A multistage random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 249 and the data collection instrument was a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, mean, standard deviation, correlation, and regression analyses. The findings revealed that OAJs were used for learning, dissertation writing, personal research, and development. OAJs were not frequently used because of download delays, unavailability of Internet facilities, and limited access to computers terminals, among other issues. OAJs were found to be of relative advantage, positively perceived, and found to be compatible with existing values and quality assurance in scholarly publications, hence their use for academic activities. The regression analyses showed that there was a significant positive relationship between positive perception, perception of relative advantage, perception of compatibility, perception complexity, and master's degree students' use of OAJs. Negative perception was found to have a significant negative correlation with the use of OAJs. This article recommends that quality assurance of OAJs should be ensured in order to boost users' positive perceptions to increase their patronage and usage of these scholarly outlets for various academic activities, which will in turn encourage research and development across the various institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the physical surroundings and the salesperson's service in apparel stores, and to examine their effects on customer satisfaction and the intention to repurchase. The data was collected from a questionnaire conducted on 312 female adults who had just finished shopping, and was analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, regressive analysis and ANOVA analysis with SPSS 10.0. The results were as follows: (1) As a result of the factor analysis, five factors were identified with regard to physical surroundings: spatial layout and functionality, presentation and aesthetics, ambience, convenience, and information. The factors pertaining to the salesperson's service in apparel stores were divided into four dimensions: knowledge and assurance, convenience and responsiveness, etiquette, and empathy. (2) As far as physical surroundings are concerned, spatial layout and functionality, presentation and aesthetics, ambience, and convenience were all found to influence customer satisfaction. In terms of salesperson's service, convenience and responsiveness, etiquette, and empathy each had an influence on customer satisfaction. (3) Furthermore, physical surroundings and the salesperson's service influenced the intention to repurchase. The intention to repurchase is influenced by spatial layout and functionality, ambience, convenience, and information with regard to physical surroundings, by knowledge and assurance, convenience and responsiveness, and empathy with regard to the salesperson's service. (4) It was revealed that the significance of the physical surroundings and salesperson service factors varies depending on the consumer's age, level of education, and income.

  • To satisfy the requirements for QoS and acceptance ratio of the users using multimedia content service, it is required to control mechanism for QoS assurance and allocation of the stream server' resources based on CoS(Class of Service). To compare performance of the algorithm, we have classified the user by two classes (super class, base class) and control the acceptance ratio of user's requests by user's class information. We have experimented the test of network resources and test of processing time under server/client environment and agent environment. MA-URFA based on agent increases the acceptance ratio of super class and utilization ratio of network resources.

  • As software becomes large-scale and complicated, the need for Quality Assurance and management is increased and software testing is becoming more important. The main aims of software testing are not only detecting and handling the defects in the system but also investigating and managing the present system. But automatic testing tools require lots of time and efforts to detect and manage the risk in the system because test-cases used in the general automatic testing tools have the simply static information. In this thesis, the dynamic management technique for weighted testcases is designed to test the high-risk testcases preferentially by giving the testcases dynamic weight.

  • A home network is a collection and connection of many electronic and electrical devices in home in order to make daily life comfortable, entertaining and safe. The convergence of Ethernet and wireless technology to a single shared broadband connection in residential gateway is the key feature of the home network. This kind of heterogeneous network has realized the need to implement different QoS mechanisms. Basically, in this paper we propose to integrate IP QoS and Wireless QoS mechanisms for QoS assurance in home network. This paper compares the combination of PCF with two queuing algorithms Low Latency Queuing (LLQ) and Custom Queuing (CQ) and concludes that the combination of CQ and PCF performs best for home network.

  • Patch distribution is one of important processes to fix vulnerabilities of software and to ensure security of systems. Since an institute or a company has various operating systems or applications, it is not easy to update patches promptly. In this paper, we propose a secure patch distribution architecture with an authentication mechanism, a security assurance mechanism, a patch integrity assurance mechanism, and an automatic patch installation mechanism. We argue that the proposed architecture improve security of patch distribution processes within a domain.

  • Since quality assurance and enhancement (QAE) raises the fundamental issue of the survival of higher education institutions and national competitiveness, guides on quality assurance (QA) are popular both domestically and worldwide. Despite the focus in many countries on trying to establish and implement QA systems, no clear investigation has been conducted on what actually happens in the institutions. Therefore, the present study examines the quality control system of the UK at an institutional level by focusing on the case of Scotland QAE. As Scottish QAE especially emphasizes student engagement and quality culture, this study investigates the present QAE situation in the institution and current ideas for better future practices by analyzing the perceptions of internal stakeholders' from the University of Edinburgh, School of Education, based on the stakeholder theory and implications for other contexts. The stakeholder analysis results demonstrate the successful application of QAE with a high level of understanding and stakeholder interest. However, the current strategy is missing certain opportunities for staff and students. Therefore, further information disclosure, formative evaluation, better communication and administrational supports are required for improved practice.

  • Requirements engineering can be seen as proceeding with various processes and activities such as extraction, analysis, specification, management, and verification without temporal and spatial constraints in the development environment of information systems that are becoming large and decentralized. Developing requirements well and conducting continuous evaluation and management is the shortcut to success in project management, and it is recognized as a very important matter in relation to requirements in the information system audit. When we conduct information system audit and conducting projects subject to audit, we need to improve the required engineering aspect. Therefore, this study derives inspection items suitable for the target project by referring to the audit inspection manual and audit inspection guide when conducting the current audit, and relates to the required engineering aspect among the contents of the inspection guide for each business type that is the basis for deriving the inspection items were derived for each audit point/audit area for the project management and quality assurance project type corresponding to the inspection items. The suitability of the extracted occupation items was verified through a questionnaire survey by experts.
