  • As amount of information in construction industry is growing, the role of information system in project management is becoming increasingly important. With the emerging IT application to the advancing construction industry, construction project management system with advanced technology has been progressed vigorously to improve construction productivity and management efficiency. Recently, a web-based Project Management Information System (PMIS) is developed to support decision-making process by efficiently managing project related information generated from various discipline. Many firms are in the process of developing the PMIS system or already have been applied the system to various projects. However, PMIS is still in its early stage of development to be applied at industrial plant construction projects that process management is significantly emphasized for the successful execution of the project. With the complexity of the industrial plant projects, the industry practitioners need to be able to visualize the construction schedule information to manage the project efficiently. This study suggests methodologies for improving PMIS specialized for industrial plant piping construction projects to estimate the baseline schedule and performance measurement more accurately by developing a framework for the piping construction projects. By using this developed system, the researchers expect that piping construction projects will be more efficiently managed on a real-time basis through measuring progress of piping at each and every state of progress milestone and provide management with opportunities to forecast the level of efforts required to execute the remaining work scope in a timely manner

  • 국내 건설업계는 자체 엔지니어링 기술 확보 및 높은 수준의 건설사업 관리기술의 보유와 더불어 사업초기 단계에서 해당 프로젝트의 경제적 타당성 평가를 수행할 수 있는 능력이 절실히 요구되어진다. 시설물의 설계 및 시공 기술은 최근의 국제 시장에서 수주를 위해서는 반드시 필요한 부분이며 수익을 창출할 수 있는 사업수행을 위해서는 사업초기단계부터 사후유지관리까지의 연속적인 건설사업 관리기술이 요구되어진다. 건설사업 관리기술은 프로젝트 시작단계에서부터 운영 유지관리 단계까지 단계별로 발생하는 비용에 대해 얼마나 경제적이고 효율적으로 관리하느냐에 따라 프로젝트의 성공여부를 결정짓는 역할을 한다. 이러한 단계별 비용항목의 체계적인 분석을 위해 본 연구에서는 국내 하수처리장을 대상으로 프로젝트 전반에 걸친 비용흐름 및 요소를 조사하였다. 특히 국내 하수처리시설의 유지관리비 DB를 조사하여 데이터 모델링을 수행하였고, 실적 DB의 불확실성을 고려하여 불확실성 해소를 위해 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션 방법을 이용하여 타당성 평가를 위한 평가 목적별(처리공법, 운영 주체 등) 유지관리비 예측 추세선을 제시하고자 하였다.

독일 산업·기술문화재 한자 코크스 제조소 재생사례 분석 (Analysis on the Characteristics of the Precedents for Industrial/Technological Cultural Properties of the Hansa Coking Plant)

  • The Industrial/Technological Cultural Properties are being protected, the rest facing with demolition and damages. In order to better cope with such situation, Korea has officially introduced the Registered Cultural Properties System since 2001 and began acknowledging the historical values of industrial buildings as modern cultural properties. In the Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, there are approximately 3,500 industrial buildings under the cultural asset protection and management not only in the Ruhr-region but also state-wide. Among these, this case study focuses on the Hansa Coking Plant, a large-scale Revitalization project to rehabilitate the old industrial complexes and facility buildings that have been shut down on December 15, 1992. Purpose of this study is to analyze main project plans of each facility in the Hansa Coking Plant and to bring out the main features of the plans, so that they can be utilized to find suggestions for Industrial/Technological Cultural Properties Revitalization in Korea.

화공플랜트 프로젝트에서 통합관리 소프트웨어 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of an Integrated Management Software for a Petrochemical Plant Project)

  • In this paper, an integrated management software is developed to promote the business competitive power. The interoperability among the software accounts for an ever growing performance of petrochemical plant project. If the interoperability is built up, company has taken advantages of quality, schedule, cost, and safety by active communication. The advantage of an integrated management software is examined in three aspects. In efficiency aspect, It takes advantage of the saving about the various information and the standard of project performance procedure. In quality, the integration gave aid to a quality improvement through team collaboration and data management within project life cycle. In cost, poor communications between systems waste 30% of project costs. If information could be inputted once and used by all, reductions in delivery time up to 40% were possible. Therefore, 10% savings of engineering cost was also possible.

중공업 일괄수주공사를 위한 프로젝트 관리 시스템 개발 사례 (Development of a Project Management System for the Turnkey-based Plant Project)

  • This study is concerned with the development of a project management system for the turnkey-based plant project, which will help the site manager to plan, control, and report the project progress. This system has been developed as one of the modules of the integrated information system for the H Heavy Industry Co. and is composed of five subsystems; project information system, drawing-material management system, process management system, project progress report system. A/S management system. it also integrates commercial project management package in order to schedule the project activities and report the project progress to the owner. The main purpose of the system is to provide project information, including drawing, material, and progress, to the site manger in the real time and to accumulate site know-how for the turnkey-based plant project.

플랜트 프로젝트의 구매조달 단계별 리스크 분석에 관한 연구 (Gradational Risk Management in Procurement Phase for Plant Projects)

  • In the plant EPC project, the procurement work can be considered as the most important part that affects the success or failure of project as it has the closest mutual influence in every execution process of the project. Procurement takes up generally 60% ~ 70% of the entire project budget and the current trend of plant EPC project becoming larger in scale and a variety of process technology being applied. So, it is needed to identify the risks that are expected to occur according to the stages of procurement work, namely, proposal stage, manufacturer selection and purchasing agreement stage, expediting the process management of manufacturer stage, inspection stage and logistics & transportation stage. The management of observation and control of the risks should be performed with the response techniques which are 'avoid',' transfer'and' mitigate'.

AWP (Advanced Work Packaging) 체계 도입을 위한 국내건설기업의 필요 조직역량 도출 연구 (Identifying the Organizational Competency Factor for Implementing AWP (Advanced Work Packaging) in perspective of Korean EPC Contractor)

  • 플랜트 프로젝트의 성과 향상을 위해 EPC 업체들은 통합적 관점에서의 프로젝트 사업관리 방식 개발에 대해 지속적인 관심을 보이고 있다. 특히, Advanced Work Packaging (AWP)는 프로젝트 생애주기 관점에서 기존의 "작업체계" 개념을 통합하여 프로젝트 수행 방식을 일부 재조정하는 방식으로 사업성과 개선을 위한 방법으로 제시되고 있다. 그러나 아직까지 국내 EPC 업체들은 AWP 도입의 초기 단계로, AWP를 수행하기 위한 구체적인 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 이에 따라, 본 연구에서는 AWP 체계의 도입을 위해 EPC 기업에서 갖추어야 하는 조직역량 도출을 목표로 하였다. 문헌 고찰과 현직자 인터뷰를 통해 AWP 도입시 발생할 것으로 예측되는 주요 리스크를 도출하였으며, 맥킨지 7S 모델 체계에 맞추어 이를 방지하기 위한 29개의 조직역량 항목을 도출하였다. 이후 AWP 전문가 5인의 검증 과정에서 추가적으로 도출된 8개의 조직역량 항목을 반영하여 최종적으로 효과적인 AWP 도입을 위해 필요한 조직역량 37개를 도출할 수 있었다.

100 MWe 순산소 석탄연소 발전시스템의 개념설계-영동 프로젝트 (Conceptual Design of 100 MWe Oxy-coal Power Plant-Youngdong Project)

  • An existing unit of power plant is considered to refurbish it for possible application of carbon capture and storage(CCS). Conceptual design of the plant includes basic considerations on the national and international situation of energy use, environmental concerns, required budget, and time schedule as well as the engineering concept of the plant. While major equipment of the recently upgraded power plant is going to be reused, a new boiler for air-oxy fired dual mode operation is to be designed. Cryogenic air separation unit is considered for optimized capacity, and combustion system accommodates flue gas recirculation with multiple cleaning and humidity removal units. The flue gas is purified for carbon dioxide separation and treatment. This paper presents the background of the project, participants, and industrial background. Proposed concept of the plant operation is discussed for the possible considerations on the engineering designs.
