Design of Domestic Induction Cooker based on Optimal Operation Class-E Inverter with Parallel Load Network under Large-Signal Excitation

  • A design of a Class-E inverter with only one inductor and one capacitor is presented. It is operated at the optimal operation mode for domestic cooker. The design principle is based on the zero-voltage derivative switching (ZVDS) of the Class-E inverter with a parallel load network, which is a parallel resonant equivalent circuit. An induction load characterization is obtained from a large-signal excitation test bench, which is the key to an accurate design of the induction cooker system. Consequently, the proposed scheme provides a more systematic, simple, accurate, and feasible solution than the conventional quasi-resonant inverter analysis based on series load network methodology. The derivative of the switch voltage is zero at the turn-on transition, and its absolute value is relatively small at the turn-off transition. Switching losses and noise are reduced. The parameters of the ZVDS Class-E inverter for the domestic induction cooker must be selected properly, and details of the design of the components of this Class-E inverter need to be addressed. A 1,200 W prototype is designed and evaluated to verify the validation of the proposed topology.

  • This paper describes design procedure and control strategy of HDC(High side DC/DC Converter) and MCU(Motor Control Unit) for diesel hybrid electric vehicle. In designing HDC and MCU for HEV high power density and reliability is strongly needed to meet the demand of automotive industry. In order to achieve the high performance of a controller, MPC5554 based control board is developed. An optimized film capacitor and inductor are also developed for high efficiency driving. Skim 63 IGBT module of SEMIKRON for automotive is used for power switching device. The most efficient cooling model for optimal size and reliability were verified by simulation. These procedures are verified by bench or driving test and the results are present in this paper.

  • The traveling wave type ultrasonic motor(USM) has no electro-magnetic circuits( coil or core). The driving principle of the USM is based on high-frequency mechanical vibrations and frictional force. The USM, thus, is fed by two-phase high - frequency sinusoidal inverter using its series resonant parasitic components. For the using of series resonant type inverter, it should be needed to a USM parasitic capacitance and a proper inductor chosen. In this paper, the values of optimal inductance are designed and the efficiency of USM drives is achieved. The effectiveness of the proposed design is demonstrated by experiments.

  • This paper proposes a unified high-frequency bipolar buck-boost (UHFBB) control strategy for a dual-active-bridge (DAB), which is derived from the classical buck and boost DC/DC converter. It can achieve optimized current stress of the switches and soft switching in wider range. The UHFBB control strategy includes multi-control-variables, which can be achieved according to an algorithm derived from an accurate mathematical model. The design method for the parameters, such as the transformer turns ratio and the inductance, are shown. The current stress of the switches is analyzed for selecting an optimal inductor. The analysis is verified by the experimental results within a 500W prototype.

  • It is very important to design the input filter optimally in matrix converters. But, the input power factor is deteriorated in spite of the optimal filter design due to the existence of inductor and capacitor included in the filter, and it is hard to keep high power factor in the whole operating range which is one of the major advantages of the matrix converters because the power factor is changed according to the output frequency and the load current. In this paper, we introduce the new space vector modulation method which can preserve the input power factor almost unity even though the output load or the output frequency is varied. It is also presented how to implement the proposed method effectively.

A Virtual RLC Active Damping Method for LCL-Type Grid-Connected Inverters

  • Proportional capacitor-current-feedback active damping (AD) is a common damping method for the resonance of LCL-type grid-connected inverters. Proportional capacitor-current-feedback AD behaves as a virtual resistor in parallel with the capacitor. However, the existence of delay in the actual control system causes impedance in the virtual resistor. Impedance is manifested as negative resistance when the resonance frequency exceeds one-sixth of the sampling frequency ($f_s/6$). As a result, the damping effect disappears. To extend the system damping region, this study proposes a virtual resistor-inductor-capacitor (RLC) AD method. The method is implemented by feeding the filter capacitor current passing through a band-pass filter, which functions as a virtual RLC in parallel with the filter capacitor to achieve positive resistance in a wide resonance frequency range. A combination of Nyquist theory and system close-loop pole-zero diagrams is used for damping parameter design to obtain optimal damping parameters. An experiment is performed with a 10 kW grid-connected inverter. The effectiveness of the proposed AD method and the system's robustness against grid impedance variation are demonstrated.

Specially At the flyback transformer or a reactor airgap were designed to contain more magnetic energy. But that work is very difficult for the optimal design. As to e Several conflicting conditions in order to determine the optimum Air-gap has a lot of experience and trial & error is necessary. The approach proposed in this paper, the auxiliary winding on the core attached to part of primary core, that by applying a DC voltage has a dramatic effect like Core with designed Air-gap. This inventiveness and advantage is to regulate arbitrarily the Saturation Flux Quantity by the input signal to secondary winding. Accordingly obtained the biggest effect is that increasing limits of the saturation current destined by the material and shape of the conventional core.   • In this paper, it is suggested that the selection method of parameter of Power System Stabilizer(PSS) with robustness in low frequency oscillation for Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor(TCSC) using Geletic Algorithm(GA). A TCSC meddle consists of a stories capacitor and a parallel path with a thyristor valve and a series inductor. Also in in parallel, as is typical with series capacitor applications, is a metal-oxide varistor(MOV) for overvoltage protection. The proposed PSS parameters are optimized using GA in order to maintain optimal operation of TCSC which is expected to be applied in transmission system to achieve a number of benefits under the various operating conditions. In order to verify the robustness of the proposed method, we considered the dynamic response of angular velocity deviation and terminal voltage deviation under a power fluctuation and rotor angle variation.

  • In this study, a 12 V PWM boost converter was designed with the optimal values of the external components of the power stage was well as the compensation stage for smart electronic applications powered by a battery device. The 12 V boost PWM converter consisted of several passive elements, such as a resistor, inductor and capacitor with a diode, power MOS switch and control IC chip for the control PWM signal. The devices of the power stage and compensation stage were designed to maintain stable operation under a range of load conditions as well as achieving the highest power efficiency. The results of this study were first verified by a simulation in SPICE from calculations of the values of major external elements comprising the converter. The design was also implemented on the prototype PCBboard using commercial IC LM3481 from Texas Instruments, which has a nominal output voltage of 12 V. The output voltage, ripple voltage, and load regulation with the line regulation were measured using a digital oscilloscope, DMM tester, and DC power supply. By configuring the converter under the same conditions as in the circuit simulation, the experimental results matched the simulation results.
