  • The new businesses started by the companies usually results in being unsuccessful. The main reasons for that are either aiming targeting wrong customers, unsatisfaction of customers' requesting quality standards, or taking wrong actions against the competitors in the market. Therefore, companies should aim the targets for the newly developing products based on the fulfilling values for the customers when they start the new businesses, and should take good cares for risk managements at the each step of the new business to prevent the failure in advance. In addition to that, the companies starting new businesses not only need to take the customers attributes (CA) into account, but they also should apply the new technologies as one system to initiate a new business to satisfy the basic wants of the customers. This article suggests the New Product Development Pursuing Model using the Indicative Planning methodology and the Quality Management tools. The New Product Development Pursuing Model would be completed by the following steps as below; 1. Drawing the CTQ (Critical To Quality) for setting up the new product development objectives by : i) using the VOC (Voice Of Customers) obtained by the QFD (Quality Function Deploypment) if the market is mature, ii) applying AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) to information in the QIS (Quality Information System) if the market is unmature to get enough need information of the customers. 2. Risk Management in NPD : The NPD pursuing model consisted of the IP (indicative planning) is suggested not by the process of top-down-way mandatory planning process, but by the tools used in the administrative science and economic fields, namely by governance. The companies could apply innovative methodology for new products development processes to fulfil the customers satisfaction in the fields, through the CA (Contingency Approach) of the NPD (New Product Development) process.

  • Transmission networks play an important role which transfer generated electric power to a consumer in power system operation. In a competitive environment of electric power industry, developing the technological criterions and methodologies on transmission planning is becoming new challenge to transmission system planner. The use of a locational signal and the provision of a indicative plan to control the transmission investment reasonably is very important in the viewpoint of a regulator. The main target of this study is to develop a systematic criterion of transmission expansion planning. And system congestion cost is considered. The proposed methodology was demonstrated with several case studies.

  • In a competitive environment of electric power industy, the level of uncertainty increase due to generation investment decisions creating new challenge to transmission system planner. The use of a locational signal and the provision of a indicative plan to control the generation investment reasonably is very important in the viewpoint of a regulator. The main target of this stuty is to emphasize on the necessity for considering simultaneously both generation and transmission expansion plan. This paper demonstrate the many case studies to make certain of the necessity for the interconnection between generation and transmission planning. In addition to, the planning in Korea power industry is considerd.

  • Intradiploic epidermoid cysts of the cranium are rare, benign and slow growing lesion. However, these cysts may cause neurologic deficits due to mass effect. Intradiploic epidermoid cysts are thought to be derived from persistent ectodermal remnants present in the cranial bones during embryogenic development. Here, we report a case of an occipital intradiploic epidermoid cyst with posterior fossa extension. The patient developed intracranial hypertension associated with hydrocephalus due to aqueductal stenosis, and venous congestion secondary to compression of the torcular and the transverse sinus. The imaging studies included a computerized tomography[CT] venogram, which is essential for determining the pathophysiological mechanism of the clinical spectrum and for surgical planning. Near total removal was accomplished and the postoperative course was uneventful. Postoperative imaging studies demonstrated a reversal of the neural structures, but no patency of the sinus, which was presumably indicative of prolonged sinus stenosis. The patient gradually improved and was discharged free of symptoms.

  • The impacts of climate change on soil moisture in sub - Arctic watershed simulated by using the hydrologic model. A range of arbitrary changes in temperature and precipitation are applied to the runoff model to study the sensitivity of soil moisture due to potential changes in precipitation and temperature. The sensitivity analysis indicates that changes in precipitation are always amplified in soil moisture with the amplification factor for flow. The change in precipitation has effect on the soil moisture in the catchment. The percentage change in soil moisture levels can be greater than the percentage change in precipitation. Compared to precipitation, temperature increases or decreases alone have impacts on the soil moisture. These results show the potential for climate change to bring about soil moisture that may require a significant planning response. They are also indicative of the fact that hydrological impacts affecting water supply may be important in consider-ing the cost and benefits of potential climate change.

  • Periodic assessment of reservoir capacity is essential for better water resources management and planning for the future water use. Reservoirs and water storage structures raised on the rivers are subjected to sedimentation and he sedimentation is caused by deposition of eroded sediment particles carried by the streams. Knowledge of reservoir sedimentation is important to estimate avaliable storage capacity for optimum reservoir operation and scheduling water release. In recent years, remote sensing and GIS techniques have emerged as an important tool in carrying out reservoir capacity analysis and water management. The reduction in storage capacity as compared to the original capacity at the time of reservoir impounding is indicative of sediment deposition. In this study, the application of GIS and remote sensing techniques were applied to assess the sediment deposition, losses in the reservoir storage and the revised cumulative capacity. Satellite images covering Pyodongdong reservoir were analyzed using Erdas Imagine and ArcGIS softwares.Cumulative capacities at different levels were also calculated and we estimated that the revised live storage was 84.2Mft3 in 2021 and 64.3Mft3 in 2022 while the original capacity was 22.8 and 53.6Mft3 in 2021 and 2022.

  • In this study, a correlation between execution of quality management activities and their results was verified by applying the Malcolm Baldrige model (hereafter referred to as the MB model) as a quality management performance measurement indicator for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in South Korea. To achieve this goal, we need to determine whether the categorical requirements in the MB model are recognized consistently in SMEs, as a prerequisite. To this end, factor analysis was conducted for measurement variables in each category, which revealed that the process indicator was made up of six factors and the outcome indicator was made up of five factors, like those configured in the MB model. This result can be interpreted to mean that the requirements in each category of the MB model were well produced and recognized consistently throughout SMEs in South Korea. In addition, the analysis of causality between the process indicator (quality management activities) and the outcome indicator (management results) showed high causality between them. Although the quality management levels of SMEs in South Korea are inferior to those of conglomerates or other national quality award-winning companies, this study is significant in that the causality between quality management activities and results was verified, since this study targeted SMEs in South Korea as the target of investigation. Thus, it is empirically proven that the MB model can contribute to improved management results for SMEs in Korea.

  • In recent years, myxosporean infection from the cultured olive flounders Paralichthys olivaceus, have been frequently observed in Jeju island, South Korea. This study aimed to compare histopathological and molecular-biological methods of examining myxosporean infection from these flounders. Samples were obtained from affected individuals exhibiting emaciation or abdominal distention and a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) indicative of Parvicapsular anisocaudata, Enteromyxum leei and Kudoa septempunctata were initiated. Histopathological examination were conducted with H&E stained tissue sections, and then in-situ hybridization (ISH) reaction were processed with selected sections using P. anisocaudata, E. leei, K. septempunctata and Scuticociliate probes. Renal and intestinal tissue degeneration were common symptoms associated with all samples. Sever glomerular and renal tubular degeneration were evident, as were intestinal epithelial desquamation and spore formation in the epithelial cells. The results of conventional PCR analysis and ISH reactions revealed differences, and we suspect that various microparasites may have been associated with the symptoms manifested.
