마음이론에 대한 아동의 암묵적 이해 (Children's Implicit Understanding about Theory of Mind)

  • This study examined the difference in children's performance between two types of task by the number of protagonists and children's implicit understanding of false-belief. The implicit measure by eye gaze was contrasted with children's explicit answers to the experimenter's question about where the protagonist would look for an object. Results showed there was no difference according to the task type by number of protagonists. On false-belief, 2- and 3-year-olds showed low performance compared with 4-year-olds on explicit responses. On implicit responses, 3- and 4-year-olds out-performed 2-year-olds. These results suggest that implicit understanding precedes explicit understanding.

노인과의 일상적 접촉이 노인에 대한 어린이의 명시적·암묵적 태도에 미치는 영향 (Does the Daily Contact with Older People Alleviate the Implicit and Explicit Ageist Attitude of Children?)

  • 본 연구는 어린이가 일상에서 노인과의 접촉을 통해 노인에 대한 차별적 태도(Ageist attitude)를 완화할 수 있는지, 해당 태도의 개선방안을 탐색하였다. 명시적 태도(Explicit attitude)의 측정에 사용되는 자기보고식(Self-reported) 척도가 의식에서 여과된 수준의 편견만 반영하는 한계를 고려해, 내면의 차별적 인식을 나타내는 '암묵적 태도(Implicit attitude)'를 측정하였다. 명시적 태도 측정에는 웃는 얼굴 5점 척도를, 암묵적 태도 측정에는 어린이용 암묵적 연령 연합검사(Children Implicit Age-association Test)를 사용하였다. 서울 및 수도권 초등학교 4~6학년 초등학생 503명의 자료를 수집했으며 기술통계, 다항 및 서열 로지스틱 회귀분석 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석결과는 크게 세 가지로 요약된다. 첫째, 노인에 대한 어린이의 명시적 태도와 암묵적 태도의 예측요인이 달랐다. 이는 편견의 '표출'을 완화하는 요소를 이용해 '내적 편견'을 예측하고 개선하는 데는 한계가 있으며 따라서 암묵적 편견에 대한 별도의 접근이 필요함을 보여준다. 둘째, 어린이의 연령차별적 태도와 노인 접촉경험의 관계는 어린이와 노인의 관계특성, 그리고 접촉의 양적 측면과 질적 측면에 따라 다소 복잡한 관계를 보였다. 종합적으로 요약하면 노인을 많이 그리고 긴밀하게 만나는 아이들이 표면적으로 또는 내면적으로 연령차별적일 가능성이 낮았다. 마지막으로, 접촉질이 중요한 명시적 태도와 달리 암묵적 태도는 접촉량과 약한 관련을 보였으며, 접촉질과는 관계가 없었다. 이는 편견 완화에 접촉량보다는 질의 효과를 강조해온 집단 간 접촉이론(Intergroup contact theory)으로 설명되지 않는 결과로, 접촉의 암묵적 태도에 대한 영향을 전반적으로 검토하고 이론을 보완할 필요가 있다.

사회복지기관의 '숨은 규칙' 확인 및 그 영향력 측정을 통한 사회복지실천 내실화 방안 (Organizational 'Rules' that Impede or Promote Effective Social Work Practice: How Social Workers Are Affected by the Rules)

  • 사회복지기관에 근무하는 사회복지인력들의 행동은 기관의 공식적 지침들에 의해서 뿐만 아니라 공식적으로 명문화되어 있지 않은 숨은 규칙, 불문율, 또는 관행들에 의해서도 실질적으로 많은 영향을 받는다. 본 연구는 사회복지기관의 실제적인 운영에 영향을 미치는 복지기관 내 "숨은 규칙" 존재의 정도를 양적으로 측정해 보고, 그 규칙들이 기관에서 일하고 있는 사회복지 인력들의 기관헌신도, 만족도, 소진에 어떤 영향을 주는지를 탐색해 보았다. 또한, 복지 기관 종사자들이 기관에 존재하는 숨은 규칙들을 따르지 않았을 경우 받게 되는 개인적 피해, 숨은 규칙의 존재 정도에 따른 기관의 이익/피해 상황도 함께 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 우리 사회의 사회복지기관에는 숨은 규칙이 심각한 정도로 존재하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 숨은 규칙의 미 준수로 인한 개인피해도 심각하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 다만, 숨은 규칙이 많이 존재할수록 기관은 여러 가지 피해를 입을 수 있음이 밝혀졌다. 또한, 숨은 규칙이 많이 존재할수록 사회복지사들의 기관에 대한 헌신 및 만족도가 낮아지고, 소진의 수준은 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 숨은 규칙들 영향력이 상대적으로 크게 나타난 내용은 사회복지사는 전문적 업무수행보다는 무슨 일이든 다하도록 요구받고 있다는 것과 근무시간 외 근무를 당연시하고 있다는 것이었다. 명시적 규칙이 있는 그대로 잘 지켜지고 있는 부분은 사회복지실천 윤리와 관련된 내용이었다. 영향력 있는 숨은 규칙들을 중심으로 사회복지실천 내실화 방안이 간략히 제시되었다.

Listening Strategy Use of Korean EFL Middle School Students

  • This research investigates listening strategies and the relationship between the employment of strategy and listening proficiency of Korean EFL middle school students. One hundred and four middle school students (N = 104) participated in this study and their strategy use was assessed through a questionnaire adapted from Oxford's (1990) SILL and O'Malley and Chamot (1990). To measure listening proficiency, the English Listening Ability Test designed by 15 city and provincial offices of education in Korea was used. The results show that students employed a moderate use of strategies; compensation strategies were used most frequently and metacognitive strategies were used the least frequently. Significant differences were found in the use of implicit strategy among different listening proficiency groups, but not in their use of behavioral strategy. Furthermore, there were significant differences in the use of implicit memory, cognitive and compensation strategies among groups of students with different listening proficiencies, but not in their use of metacognitive strategy. The results from multiple regression analysis indicate that implicit strategy use could play an important role in listening comprehension. The findings suggest the need for additional research to explore the effect of listening strategy training for English language learners.

암묵적 태도검사(Implicit Association Test, IAT)를 이용한 남녀 중학생의 가정교과에 대한 성편향성 태도 연구 (A Study of the Gender-Biased Attitudes of Korean Middle School Students toward Home Economics as a Subject: Implementing the Implicit Association Test)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an Implicit Association Test to measure students' gender-biased attitude toward Home Economics, a required subject in middle-school and to examine the effects of gender, gender-biased attitude toward Home Economics, and gender egalitarianism on the perception of the subject. A total of 508 male and female middle-school students were surveyed using Qualtrics. The results revealed that the students had a gender-biased attitude of perceiving Home Economics as feminine as a whole, and this tendency was more evident among female than male students. To the contrary, their attitudes toward Home Economics as a subject was generally favorable when asked explicitly using self-administered questions. Among the high school elective classes, students preferred 'fashion' most, followed by 'dietary life', 'technology and home economics', and 'family life culture'. Female students, students with patriarchal attitude, and students who has gender-biased attitude toward Home Economics were more likely to perceive Home Economics as an alienated and less important subject. The generally positive explicit attitude toward Home Economics may be the results the social desirability effect due to the education. However, the home economists should develop a plan to overcome the gender-biased implicit attitude in order for the value of Home Economics as a subject to be fully addressed.

The Role of Moral Deficiency in Moral Consumption Behavior - The Implicit and Explicit Approaches: An Empirical Study from Indonesia

  • This research aims to investigate the relationship between moral deficiency and moral consumption. Consumers' moral values cannot be separated from their consumption activities. In other words, consumers' spending preferences may be an expression of their beliefs about what is right and wrong. A less explored concept within moral consumption behavior theory is 'moral deficiency'. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first research effort to integrate green purchasing and religious purchasing under the banner of moral consumption behavior. There are two studies: Study 1 aimed to measure the moral deficiency of participants through moral scenarios (implicit) and then test its relationship with the green purchase and religious purchase, two proxies of moral consumption. A total of 121 universities were chosen via the nonprobability sampling method. To improve the results of the prior study, Study 2 aimed to measure the moral deficiency of participants through moral deficiency self-report (explicit) and then test its effects on green purchase and religious purchase. A total of 208 participants from the general public were recruited via the nonprobability sampling method. The findings of the two studies suggest that participants with high moral deficiency showed more intention to engage in moral consumption behavior.

MFMAP: Learning to Maximize MAP with Matrix Factorization for Implicit Feedback in Recommender System

  • Traditional recommendation algorithms on Collaborative Filtering (CF) mainly focus on the rating prediction with explicit ratings, and cannot be applied to the top-N recommendation with implicit feedbacks. To tackle this problem, we propose a new collaborative filtering approach namely Maximize MAP with Matrix Factorization (MFMAP). In addition, in order to solve the problem of non-smoothing loss function in learning to rank (LTR) algorithm based on pairwise, we also propose a smooth MAP measure which can be easily implemented by standard optimization approaches. We perform experiments on three different datasets, and the experimental results show that the performance of MFMAP is significantly better than other recommendation approaches.

  • Pioneering work by Terzaghi imparted scientific and mathematical bases to many aspects of this subject and many people use this theory to measure the consolidation settlement until now. In this paper, Finite Difference Methods for consolidation are considered. First, it is shown the stability criterion of Explicit scheme and the Crank-Nicolson scheme, although unconditionally stable in the mathematical sense, produces physically unrealistic solutions when the time step is large. it is also shown that The Fully Implicit scheme shows more satisfactory behavior, but is less accurate for small time steps. and then we need to decide what scheme is more proper to consolidation. The purpose of this paper is to suggest the pertinent scheme to consolidation.

Isogeometric analysis of gradient-enhanced damaged plasticity model for concrete

  • This study proposed a new and efficient 2D damage-plasticity model within the framework of Isogeometric analysis (IGA) for the geometrically nonlinear damage analysis of concrete. Since concrete exhibits complicated material properties, two internal variables are introduced to measure the hardening/softening behavior of concrete in tension and compression, and an implicit gradient-enhanced formulation is adopted to restore the well-posedness of the boundary value problem. The numerical results calculated by the model is compared with the experimental data of three benchmark problems of plain concrete (three-point and four-point bending single-notched beams and four-point bending double-notched beam) to illustrate the geometrical flexibility, accuracy, and robustness of the proposed approach. In addition, the influence of the characteristic length on the numerical results of each problem is investigated.

Revisiting the Faking Issues of the CRT-A with Koreans

  • The Conditional Reasoning Test for Aggression (CRT-A) is an implicit assessment for aggression. The CRT-A is known to be resistant to response distortion. We revisited LeBreton et al.'s (2007) studies on the faking issues of the CRT-A with the Korean population. We divided 488 Korean college students into three groups and asked them to take the CRT-A under different instructions. Results showed that Koreans were able to identify aggressive alternatives when the purpose of the test was fully disclosed, and the students were less likely to select aggressive alternatives if they were told that the CRT-A was a personality test.
