  • One of the effective jamming methods to disturb monopulse radars is a wavefront distortion. Most well-known wavefront distortion is the cross eye technique which uses two transmitters. The cross eye can make angle error regardless of monopulse radar structure but high accuracies of phase and amplitude between two transmitters should be needed to make large angle error. Thus, the accuracies of phase and amplitude are essentially required performance parameters for implementation of wavefront distortion systems and the required values of accuracy is dependant on amount of angle error. In this paper, we derive expressions for minimum required values of phase difference and amplitude ratio according to amount of angle error and analyze the results.

  • We propose a dispersive finite-difference time domain(FDTD) algorithm suitable for the electromagnetic analysis of the human body. In this work, the dispersion relation of the human body is modeled by a quadratic complex rational function(QCRF), which leads to an accurate and efficient FDTD algorithm. Coefficients(involved in QCRF) for various human tissues are extracted by applying a weighted least square method(WLSM), referred to as the complex-curve fitting technique. We also presents the FDTD formulation for the QCRF-based dispersive model in detail. The QCRFbased dispersive model is significantly accurate and its FDTD implementation is more efficient than the counterpart of the Cole-Cole model. Numerical examples are used to show the validity of the proposed FDTD algorithm.

  • IT convergence technology is gradually becoming anthropocentric and evolving based on the low-carbon green growth. Augmented reality technique is a contents convergence technology that can mix virtual objects while maintaining a sense of the real world. For that reason, interaction between user and system is possible, can make various applications, and has a high possibility for expandability. To expand the scope of existing interaction, this paper suggests contextual UX-based augmented reality system. It is a system which creates virtual objects that respond to the changes in the real world environment, and users can directly apply their personal preferences to virtual objects. Also, several virtual objects can be registered all at once, and even shows animations corresponding to either day and night according to the brightness of illumination. As said, it improves user's satisfaction through a system of mixed usability, and leads to a continuous use of augmented reality contents.

  • In this research, we implement Realtime Air Diffusion Prediction System which is a parallel Fortran model running on distributed-memory parallel computers. The system is designed for air diffusion simulations with four-dimensional data assimilation. For regional air quality forecasting a series of dynamic downscaling technique is adopted using the NCAR/Penn. State MM5 model which is an atmospheric model. The realtime initial data have been provided daily from the KMA (Korean Meteorological Administration) global spectral model output. It takes huge resources of computation to get 24 hour air quality forecast with this four step dynamic downscaling (27km, 9km, 3km, and lkm). Parallel implementation of the realtime system is imperative to achieve increased throughput since the realtime system have to be performed which correct timing behavior and the sequential code requires a large amount of CPU time for typical simulations. The parallel system uses MPI (Message Passing Interface), a standard library to support high-level routines for message passing. We validate the parallel model by comparing it with the sequential model. For realtime running, we implement a cluster computer which is a distributed-memory parallel computer that links high-performance PCs with high-speed interconnection networks. We use 32 2-CPU nodes and a Myrinet network for the cluster. Since cluster computers more cost effective than conventional distributed parallel computers, we can build a dedicated realtime computer. The system also includes web based Gill (Graphic User Interface) for convenient system management and performance monitoring so that end-users can restart the system easily when the system faults. Performance of the parallel model is analyzed by comparing its execution time with the sequential model, and by calculating communication overhead and load imbalance, which are common problems in parallel processing. Performance analysis is carried out on our cluster which has 32 2-CPU nodes.

  • Three methods for design sensitivity such as numerical differentiation, analytical method and semi-analytical method have been developed for the last three decades. Although analytical design sensitivity analysis is exact, it is hard to implement for practical design problems. Therefore, numerical method such as finite difference method is widely used to simply obtain the design sensitivity in most cases. The numerical differentiation is sufficiently accurate and reliable for most linear problems. However, it turns out that the numerical differentiation is inefficient and inaccurate because its computational cost depends on the number of design variables and large numerical errors can be included especially in nonlinear design sensitivity analysis. Thus semi-analytical method is more suitable for complicated design problems. Moreover semi-analytical method is easy to be performed in design procedure, which can be coupled with an analysis solver such as commercial finite element package. In this paper, implementation procedure for the semi-analytical design sensitivity analysis outside of the commercial finite element package is studied and computational technique is proposed, which evaluates the pseudo-load for design sensitivity analysis easily by using the design variation of corresponding internal nodal forces. Errors in semi-analytical design sensitivity analysis are examined and numerical examples are illustrated to confirm the reduction of numerical error considerably.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm for automatically converting and displaying rainfall radar data on a 3D GIS platform. The weather information displayed like rainfall radar data is updated frequently and large-scale. Thus, in order to efficiently display the data, an algorithm to convert and output the data automatically, rather than manually, is required. In addition, since rainfall data is extracted from the space, the use of the display image fused with the 3D GIS data representing the space enhances the visibility of the user. To meet these requirements, this study developed the Auto Data Converter application that analyzes the raw data of the rainfall radar and convert them into a universal format. In addition, Unity 3D, which has good development accessibility, was used for dynamic 3D implementation of the converted rainfall radar data. The software applications developed in this study could automatically convert a large volume of rainfall data into a universal format in a short time and perform 3D modeling effectively according to the data conversion on the 3D platform. Furthermore, the rainfall radar data could be merged with other GIS data for effective visualization.

  • This paper investigates a low cost dual modular redundancy system based on heartbeat which can be applied to traffic control signal system. Failure of the traffic control signal system can cause traffic confusion and traffic accidents. Therefore safety and reliability of traffic control should be secured using fault tolerance technology. To do this, we configured a redundant board using the open source hardware and the heartbeat technique of Linux HA. The function of the traffic signal control system was verified and the fault recovery time was measured using fault injection test. As a result of the test, the fault recovery time was confirmed to be less than 9 seconds on average, confirming that the reliability target time is satisfied. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that it can be applied to fields requiring high reliability systems such as aviation, space, and nuclear power embedded systems.

  • In this paper, we propose real-time 3D image converting architecture by a unit of pixel for 2D/3D compatible PC and LCD of cellular phone with parallax burier, and implement a system for overall display operation after designing a circuit based on FPGA. After digitizing anolog image signal from PC, we recompose it to 3D image signal according to input image type. Since the architecture which rearranges 2D image to 3D depends on parallax burier, we use interleaving method which mixes pixels by a unit of R, G, and B cell. The propose architecture is designed into a circuit based on FPGA with high-speed memory access technique and use 4 SDRAMs for high performance data storing and processing. The implemented system consists of A/D converting system, FPGA system to formatting 2D signal to 3D, and LCD panel with parallax barrier, for 3D display.

  • In this paper, a VCDRO(Voltage Control Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) applied to FMCW(Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave)Radar as stable source is implemented and constructed with a MESFET for low noise, a dielectric resonator of high frequency selectivity, and high Q varator diode to obtain a good phase noise performance and stable sweep characteristics. The designed circuits is simulated thrash harmonic balance simulation technique to provide the optimum performance. The measured result of a fabricated VCDRO shows that output is 2.22dBm at 12.05GHz, harmonic suppression -30dBc, phase noise -130dBc at 100kHz offset, and sweep range of varator diode $\pm$18.7MHz, respectively. This oscillator will be available to FMCW Radar.
