  • There have not been extensive studies on the objectives and contents for computer education, although the computer became a required subject in the 7th Curriculum. Since the success of education greatly depends on the established educational goals, it is important to set up refined objectives related to information communication technology and to educate children accordingly in a systematic way. In this respect, this paper analyses objectives of each elementary subject and curriculums of foreign schools, suggests new objectives for computer education, and discusses methods for selecting contents that are fit to the objectives. Our work can be used as a basis for conducting research on elementary computer education.

  • For hearing-impaired students, it is known that reading ability is the most important means of communication. In the meanwhile, with recent development of wireless communication technologies, mobile devices are used in various education fields. The purpose of this study is to design and implement a mobile system to improve reading ability of hearing-impaired students. For this purpose, "Question Generation Strategy", known as one of the effective methods for improving reading ability, is adopted to make study contents. Also, 2Bi (Bilingual-Bicultural) Approach Model, an attractive model for improving reading ability of hearing-impaired students, is used. Characteristics of the proposed mobile system are as follows. First, the system is developed to let students learn written language usage through repetition and difference of two organically-related curriculums for hearing-impaired students. Second, study contents are made to increase sentence understanding ability using an activity that is to let students read articles, make questions and answer questions for themselves. Third, the proposed system is designed and implemented to allow students to choose study contents individually anytime anywhere depending on their study levels.

  • The government intends to pursue a program to develop LINC from 2012. Through this program, the government intends to nurture expert manpower required by the areas of industry, research and development, and technology transfer. For this, it wants to create and expand various leader models of industry-university cooperation. Therefore, this study is focused on the method of developing a robust curriculum suitable for educating students to a level where they are ready to work upon graduation. In this study, curriculums used by some universities which have been taken part in the program of industry-university cooperation have been examined. As a result there are some suggestions for the future of this curriculum, and they are as follows: firstly, in order to overcome the gap between universities and industries, universities should survey the requirement of local industries and apply this to developing a curriculum for industry-university cooperation; secondly, DACUM should be used and finally, the curriculum for industry-university cooperation should build upon a stepwise-model in the form of a foundation-core-intensification course throughout a student's university years.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the standard curriculum for informatics by reflecting the changing information technology and social needs and based on the competencies that school at each level must have. To accomplish the purpose, the informatics curriculums of 8 countries were analyzed, and the learning elements of the curriculum were extracted with the body of knowledge of the higher-level informatics standard curriculum being the frame. To establish the standard curriculum, 51 experts reviewed it and their opinions were collected 10 times. As a result of this study, the competencies that need to be fostered through the informatics curriculum were defined, and the competency-centered curriculum, including the learning elements required to acquire the competencies, and the competencies that can be manifested through the learning element, was proposed. The implication is that the informatics standard curriculum, proposed in this study, laid down the foundation for establishing the informatics curriculum scheduled to be revised in 2022.

  • Although gender-mainstreaming policies have been implemented, women are still under-represented in Korean science and technology (S&T). It is necessary to systematically analyze successful strategies which improved gender-diversity in S&T institutional environment. This paper examined notable attempts to lessen gender inequality in the fields of S&T education, research and industry. In so doing, the paper makes three important arguments. First, effective strategies for gender-mainstreaming are based upon gender-sensitive analyses of institutional and cultural contexts in S&T. Second, gender-sensitive strategies can contribute not only to gender-diversity but also qualitative and quantitative improvements in S&T. Finally, the paper provides strategies to increase gender-diversity in Korean S&T.

  • In this study, I examined the problems of the current barista curriculum and sought how to improve them by feedback from domestic specialized baristas and comparative analyses of the training programs that take place in barista educational institutions. In order to identify problems in curriculum and what to be improved, I gained the opinions of 15 experts who are currently teaching students in barista educational institutions using Delphi technique. To sum up the opinions of experts, working level education of coffee has to be mainly done and substantial educations for employment such as cafe operating technique and marketing are needed. In addition, experts suggested enhancing service courses considering the nature of working in contact with customers and the course for baking goods that takes up a lot of sales. As a result of examining the current curriculum in the institutions for baristas, it seems necessary to supplement these training courses that experts suggested because the educations are very poor.

  • The purpose of analysis of foreign curriculums and textbooks is to aimed to get the implications for the revision of curriculum, publishment of textbooks and teaching mathematics. In this study, Common Core State Standards and its textbooks was analyzed. The U. S. doesn't have the national mathematics curriculum. So, it can be happen some problems: students' lower mathematical achievement, assessment policy, decision of teaching contents, etc. In 2010, Common Core State Standards was developed by states. Furthermore, The California Department of Education reshaped standards: CA-CCSSM. This study analyzed the contents of fraction in CA-CCSSM and its textbooks. Fraction has many concepts and methods and models in teaching process. This study analyzed the equal parts, introducing fraction concept, the types of fraction, equivalent fractions, comparison of fractions. The conclusions are as follows; The equal parts are the important concept of fraction and introduced in geometry area before teaching of fraction. CA-CCSSM aims to understand a fraction as a number on the number line and represent fractions on a number line diagram. There are some similarity and difference in mixed number, fractions as a division and ratio, equivalent fractions and comparison of fractions between Korean curriculum and textbooks and CA-CCSSM.

  • The study of popular music in Korea has been looked down on in terms of its academic value, which has led to the demise of research into this topic. Unlike classical music, all areas of study of pop music (history, theory, and performance) in Korea inevitably rely on curriculums and courses in foreign countries. This study focuses on the era of the Eighth U.S. Army when modern band music first arose in Korea to discuss the important role played by Shin Joong Hyun's Psychedelic music style. Shin Joong Hyun's new approach to arranging and harmonizing included the qualities of Western music, but kept the melody lines of our own traditional style. Shin Joong Hyun's music is still being played by today's musicians decades later and it definitely deserves to be praised for generations to come. Although this study only covers a limited portion of our pop music history, its purpose is to provide future generations of musicians with knowledge on the roots of our pop music culture.
