  • This study empirically examined the influence of ownership structure(public/private) and revenue structure (high dependency on advertisement/low dependency on advertisement) of broadcasting companies upon journalists' perceptions regarding the degree of freedom in news reporting, the factors that limit freedom of press, satisfaction with the work autunomy and satisfaction with company's policies of news reporting and editing in light of resource dependency theory. The result showed that both the ownership structure and revenue structure of broadcasting companies influenced the journalists' perception regarding the degree of freedom in news gathering and reporting. It was also confirmed that only the revenue structure affected the level of satisfaction with work autonomy while the degree of satisfaction with the company's policies on editing and programing was influenced by the ownership structure. The perception of the factors that limit the freedom of press was found to be influenced only by the ownership structure, as did the satisfaction with policies on editing and programing. These results are very significant as they show that the level of dependence on advertising revenue affects journalists' news reporting, and that journalists of public broadcasting companies are influenced by the dependence on government or other political powers as well as on advertising revenue.

  • Cohesion refers to the degree of the relatedness of the elements in a module, and it is widely accepted that the module of higher cohesion is easier to understand, maintain, and reuse. Recently, several cohesion metrics have been proposed to measure the cohesiveness of classes in an object-oriented program. However, the existing cohesion metrics do not consider the characteristics of dependent instance variables that are commonly used in a class and, thus, do not properly reflect the cohesiveness of the class. This paper presents an approach for improving the cohesion metrics by considering the characteristics of the dependent instance variables in an object-oriented program. To demonstrate the importance of the dependent instance variables, a case study has been conducted on a class library.

  • It is expected that expanded use of smartphone and enhanced information technology will enable smartwork to change individuals and organizations. Smartwork is expected to allow people to perform their roles without barriers of time and space. However, people tend not to accept and actively utilize smartwork. The present study is to examine how important flexibility-willingness is for performance outcome in the context of smartwork. It was hypothesized that flexibility-willingness mediates between perceived smartwork usefulness and work-family conflict. It was also hypothesized based on technology acceptance model that task interdependence and process control moderates the relationship between flexibility-willingness and work-family conflict because the relationship is not consistent. The results show that the mediation effect of the flexibility-willingness is statistically significant. The moderator effects of task interdependence was marginal proved but process control wasn't. From these results, we discussed the theoretical implications of findings, limitations, suggestions for future research in discussion.

  • Domestic software test maturity level is the most Level 2 below based on TMMi. The first condition of enhancement of test maturity is that know exactly what the current maturity. There is no Level 1 definition in TMMi, but even the same level of maturity level of an organization, there are clear differences. In this study, grasp a maturity level of Level 1 organization, while less effort to improve in Level organization, the ways to achieve Level 2 is presented. Sub practices with dependencies in Level 2 is grouped with the corresponding process areas and define a Level 1 newly at 3 phases. If sub practices with dependencies are tied and improve a process, it will produce the effect which attains the practices all at once. Verify the adequacy of three phases, as a result, an organization clearly identify Test Maturity Level 1, we know that the organization can set specific improvement goals and direction.

  • Electron beam quality assurance (QA) should be done regularly for accurate radiation therapy. However, QA tools used in clinical practice are designed mainly for X-rays. So, a dosimeter for electron beam QA is required. Therefore, in this study, the electron beam detection performance was measured by using a thorium bromide material as an electron beam sensor. In addition, it was evaluated whether it could be applied with an electron beam QA dosimeter. Reproducibility, linearity, and dose rate dependence were evaluated at 6 MeV and 9 MeV energies. As a result of reproducibility, it showed a maximum output change of 0.92% at 6 MeV and 1.15% at 9 MeV. The linearity result evaluation and determination coefficient were presented as 0.9998. As a result of dose rate dependence evaluation, relative standard deviation 0.51% at 6 MeV and relative standard deviation 1.07% at 9 MeV were presented. The manufactured TlBr sensor shows the ability to detect radiation that meets the criteria for evaluation of reproducibility, linearity, and dose rate dependence. These results mean that the TlBr dosimeter is applicable as an electron beam QA dosimeter.

  • Since an LFSR(linear feedback shift register) as a pattern generator has solely linear dependency in itself, it generates sequences by moving the bit positions for pattern generation. So the correlation between the generated patterns is high and thus reduces the possibility of fault detection. To overcome these problems many researchers studied to have goodness of randomness between the output test patterns. In this paper, we propose the new and effective method to construct phase shifter as PRPG(pseudo random pattern generator).

  • This study deals with the relationship between the magnitude of ultrasonic nonlinear parameter B/A, sound speed of amount of fat present in biological media for measuring B/A system using a wide band ultrasonic transducer. To represent this case, mixtures of egg white and egg yolk were studied. Even though the differences in density and sound speed of the two egg components were within 1% of each other, B/A were increases parabolically as a function of the fat density, which is not in agreement with the Yoshizumi et al's suggestion. In skim milk that does not contain fat, both the B/A and the sound speed increase with the solubility. It is proposed that protein could affect these values.

  • This study investigates proper solution available for flexibly management pointing out reality a lack of understanding and interest for executing security management while importance of firm security management gets bigger. Accordingly, this study suggests 4 exogenous variables such as organizational commitment, experience of security risks, perceived benefits, partner interdependence as factors of having influence upon development and implementation in security management. It suggests IT volatility as moderating variable, which will intensify between development and implementation. The research model was tested by using Structural Equation Modeling, via Amos 19.0 analysis on a sample collected from 209 firms. As a result, the remaining variables except partner interdependence showed statistically positive influence. The implications of the findings suggest a new theoretical framework of the security management and offers important solutions for the practical application guidelines.

  • Crude oil is a resource that is being used as a raw material in major industries, representing the price of the raw material market. It is also an important element that affects the shipping market in terms of fuel costs for freight vessels. As a result, crude oil and freight rates are closely related. Therefore, from January 2009 to June 2019, this study analyzed the dependency structure between oil price (WTI) and freight rates (BDI, BCI, BPI, BSI, and BHI) using daily data. The main results are summarized as follows. First, according to the copula results, survival Gumbel copula in WTI-BDI, Clayton copula in WTI-BCI, Survival Joe copula in WTI-BPI, Joe copula in WTI-BSI, and survival Gumbel copula in WTI-BHI were selected as the best-fitted model. Second, looking at Kendall's tau correlation, there is a positive correlation between BDI and oil price. Furthermore, freight rate index (BCI, BPI, BSI) and oil price show positive dependencies. In particular, the strongest dependence was found in BCI and oil price returns. However, BHI and oil price show a negative dependency. Third, looking at the tail-dependency structure, a pair between oil price and BDI, BCI showed a lower tail-dependency. The pair between oil price and BSI showed the upper tail-dependency.

  • This study aimed to explore the ways that personal dignity of people with dementia would be maintained in their everyday experiences. To achieve the aim, this study reviewed existing qualitative studies conducted with people with dementia as individuals or couples. This study found the followings: First, capacities and power of people with dementia were embodied in their bodies and found in their behaviors, nonverbal communications, and performances of social roles as forms of interaffectivity. Second, as a subcategories of personal identity, dignity of identity of people with dementia was maintained based on their sense of self, personhood, and couplehood. Finally, for personal dignity of people with dementia, it might be important to practice their embodied capacities and power and to construct and manage the context of interdependence and relatedness through interaffectivity to maintain thier sense of self, personhood, and couplehood. Human dignity based on independence and individuality could be reconsidered in the context of interdepedence and relatedness.
