This paper describes system to extract ISO codes in container image. A container ISO code recognition system for real-time processing is made of 5 core parts which are container ISO code detection and image acquisition, ISO code region extraction, individual character extraction, character recognition and database. Among them, the accuracy of ISO code extraction can affect significantly the accuracy of system recognition rate, and also the more exact extraction of ISO code is required in various weather and environment conditions. The proposed system produces binary of the ISO code's template lesions using an adaptive thresholding, extracts candidate regions containing distribution of ISO code, and recognizes ISO codes as detecting a final region through the verifications by using character distribution characteristics of ISO code among the extracted candidates. Experimental results reveal that ISO codes can be efficiently extracted by the proposed method.

In 1994, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code) as SOLAS convention to ensure the safe operation of ships and to protect marine environment from pollution In December 2002, the IMO adopted the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) in the Chapter XI-1 of SOLAS to ensure the security of ships, crew, cargo and port facility. With 1 July 2004 being the coming into effective date of ISPS Code, there is a sense of urgency among the shipping companies and port authorities to accomodate the ISPS Code. Although both the ISM Code and the ISPS Code are based on the management system concept introduced in the ISO 9001, two Codes pursue different objective. Accordingly, it is meaningful to compare and analyze the requirements of three standards. In this article, the backgrounds, principles and requirements of three standards are analyzed and presented to offer several suggestions on the establishment and implementation of security measures in compliance with the ISPS Code to the shipping industry in time.

In this paper, we designed and implemented a code conversion method between ISO/IEC 10646 and the multi-byte code set. The Universal Multiple-Octet Coded Character Set(UCS) provides codes for more than 65,000 characters, huge increase over ASCII's code capacity of 128 characters. It is applicable to the representation, transmission, interchange, processing, storage, input and presentation of the written form of the language throughout the world. Therefore, it is so important to guide on code conversion methods to their customers during customer systems are migrated to the environment which the UCS code system is used and/or the current code systems, i.e., ASCII PC code and EBCDIC host code, are used with the UCS together. Code conversion utility including the mapping table between the UCS and IBM new host code is shown for the purpose of the explanation of code conversion algorithm and its implementation in the system. The programs are successfully executed in the real system environments and so can be delivered to the customer during its migration stage from the UCS to the current IBM code system and vice versa.

This article introduces definition and theoretical background of the managing records for ISO 9000 compliance, especially, quality record management and describes the method of establishing efficient system for the control of quality records in engineering corporation. To establish the best control system of quality records, the organization must not only understand ISO Code requirements for quality record completely but also identify the documents to be controlled as a quality records correctly. This will provide the guidance which need to establish the system for quality control to the organization which produces documents in accordance with ISO Code requirements.

There are many different ID representation forms depending on the media or applications. In case of RFID tag, ID representation form must be followed by the rule of ISO/IEC 15962. In this study, we developed the efficient ID conversion algorithm between ID representation form on RFID tag and Internet. The main idea is on the use of XML based ID profiles and three step logical IDs forms. The algorithm was tested by the typical three kinds of real IDs such as EPC, ISO/IEC 15459 KKR Code, and mCode which are the typical meta-IDs can be defined in ISO/IEC 18000-6C tag.
This paper is concerned with the International Standard ISO 2859-1 (1989), Sampling Plans Indexed by Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) for Lot-by-Lot Inspection, his standard is AQL type sampling scheme, and incorporates switching rules to move among normal, tightened, and reduced inspections. Sample size code letters and inspection levels of ISO 2859-1 are the same as those of other attributes standards MIL-STD-105D, ANSI Z1.4, and KS A 3109. But ISO 2859-1 has more simple switching rules than KS A 3109 has. The sampling procedures of the ISO 2859-1 are matched to the variables international standard ISO 3951 to enable us to move between them. Composite OC and ASN curves are given for AQL 2.5% and code letter F.
ISO 3951 (1989) Sampling Procedures and Charts for Inspection by Variables for Percent Nonconforming is an acceptable quality level (AQL) type sampling scheme. Sample size code letters and inspection levels in this International Standard correspond to those given in the ISO 2859 (1989), a standard for sampling plans by attributes. Two acceptance sampling procedures can be used ; tabular and graphical methods. The graphs could be used in less critical applications while the tabular method would be available for those familiar with MIL-STD-414 tables and to confirm the results of the graphs when needed. The sampling procedures of the ISO 3951 are matched to the ISO 2859 to enable us to move between them. Composite OC and ASN curves are given for AQL 2.5% and code letter F.

Recently, the size and location of the acquired container image while the container is loading and unloading in Harbors is not fixed. And it is difficult to get a good image for recognition because of the variation of external environment as those the size of container and where the yard-tractor stop is. In this paper, we estimate where the container ISO-code set is using Top-hat transform from realtime images and get an image to recognize container ISO-code using PAN/TILT/ZOOM camera. We extract the container ISO-code using Top-hat transform and Histogram projection. After binarization, we extract each character from complex background using labeling. We use BP(Backpropagation Network) to recognize extracted characters.
Conventional bar code has the appearance of line bars and spaces, called as one-dimensional bar code. In contrast, the information in two-dimensional bar code is represented by either a small, rectangular or square with the types of mosaic and Braille. The two-dimensional bar code is much more efficient than one-dimensional bar code because it can allow to store and express large amounts of data in a small space and so far there is also a little information about decoding the Data Matrix in base 256 mode. According to the ISO international standards, there are four kinds of bar code: QR code, Data Matrix, PDF417, and Maxi code. In this paper, among them, we focus on describing the basic concepts of Data Matrix in base 256 mode, how to encode and decode them, and how to organize them in detail. In addition, Data Matrix can be organized efficiently depending on the modes of numeric, alphanumeric characters, and binary system and expecially, we focus on describing how to decode the Data Matrix code by four modes.
