Sensitivity Analysis on the Performance of Multimedia Stream Server using Simulation (시뮬레이선을 통한 멀티미디어 스트림 서버의 성능 민감도 분석)

  • This paper studies the Internet stream server which serves multimedia stream services such as VoD and MoD. The Internet multimedia stream server is developed to provide 50 users with continuous multimedia stream contents simultaneously. This paper focuses on introducing design concepts, operation details and on evaluating system performance and doing sensitivity analysis with respect to the change of the system components. The performance evaluation is performed using simulation in order to identify the system component that mostly affects the system performance. The sensitivity analysis shows the service delay rates of the multimedia stream server depending on the user's service request pattern. Also, the analysis is made on the utilization rates of the core system components such as the PCI bus and the Ethernet card, and on the system performance change by adding more system components.

  • The efficient communication process is essential to guarantee the completeness of design and secure the quality to meet the contractor's needs. However, using the existing communication methods based on the design and documents, it is difficult to effectively understand the drawings and specifications that are very complicated, and sufficient technical experiences would be required. Ineffective and inefficient communication among users, designers and project participants during the design process would raise the possibility of functional interferences of the object, induce conflicts, cause a design change, and accordingly incur losses of the project in terms of cost and time. The purpose of this study is to suggest improvement direction of communication in accordance with the requirements, by investigating the present state and the project participants' understanding of design communication. And also, it presents the application model of QFD that the project participants could share and define, and feedback the requirements as well as conducting analysis of improvement factors based on the survey.

  • LVC-G COTS SW are widely used for the military training due to several advantages. Accordingly, LVC-G COTS SW domestic developments are in demand. In this study, there are the four hypotheses in the gap between users and developers and establish the hypotheses are all correct. The first hypothesis "LVC-G associated with the COTS SW between users and developers about the requirements for the performance gap is expected.", the second hypothesis, "LVC-G associated with between users and developers for COTS SW technology gap is expected for the elements. ", the third hypothesis" LVC-G associated with the COTS SW development costs between users and developers about the expectations gap is about. ", the fourth hypothesis" LVC for COTS SW-G and related skill levels between users and developers are excited about the gap ". Every hypothesis were confirmed to be valid by interview and survey.

  • In a Vod(video0on-demand) system, a scheduling strategy is designed to increase the system efficiency and to eatisfy the isochronous requirements of showing a video to multiple viewers with one disk access. In this paper, we have proposed the Stream Relay Scheme (SRS) which utilizes the client's buffer space to reduce the server's disk I/O, buffer consumption, and stream capacity. Under the SRS which we have proposed in this paper, the server does not service all the requests directly but forwards the new request selectively to the client who is being served currently in order to reduce the initial latency and increase the system throughput. The SRS-BAT which integrated the SRS with the Batching technique is introduced. The results of the simulated experiments which compared the SRS with the conventional technique have shown the noticeable performance improvements in terms of initial latency and the server throughput.

  • The importance of SW quality is also rising as the usage of SW is increased in the areas of society. The development of SW quality competency of the human resource is essential for ensuring the quality of SW product, and the details of it should be reflected firstly in the demands of industrial sites. In this paper, the needs assessment and the training priorities were identified by IT Test and IT Quality Assurance based on National Competency Standards(NCS). T-test, Borich's need assessment model, and the Locus for Focus Model were conducted for determining training priorities. As a result, top and post training priorities were drawn from the redundancy check and some related implications were suggested.

  • In this paper, it is proposed the fault detection method of the ASIC, without the Test Requirement Document(TRD), extracting internal logic circuit and analyzed the function of the ASIC using the multipurpose development program and simulation. If there don't have the TRD, it is impossible to analyze the operation of the circuit and find out the fault detection in any chip. Therefore, we make the TRD based on the analyzed logic data of the ASIC, and diagnose of the ASIC circuit at the gate level through the signal control of I/O pins using the Dynamic Pattern signal. According to the experimental results of the proposed method, we is confirmed the good performance of the fault detection capabilities which applied to the non-memory circuit.

  • Recently, it is possible for users to acquire necessary data easily as the various schemes of the searching information are developed. Since these data rise continuously like stream data, it is required to extract the appropriate data for the user's needs from the mass data on the internet. In the traditional scheme, they are acquired by processing the user queries after the occurred data are stored at a database. However, it is inefficient to process the user queries over the large volume of continuous data by using the traditional scheme. In this paper, we propose the query processing scheme to extract the data efficiently for the user requirements from the large volume of continuous data. On the proposed scheme, we present the Event-Profile Model to define the data occurrence on the internet as the events and the user's requirements as the profiles. We also show the filtering scheme to process the events and the profiles efficiently.

Analyzing the Requirements for Improving Construction Managers' Work-life Balance (건축공사 현장관리자의 근로실태 및 워라밸 분석)

  • It has been widely-reported that the quality of life in Korea is lower than that of the economic growth. In particular, construction managers are reported to have a lower quality of life compared to people in other job types due to the specific nature of the tasks they have to carry out. These include early work attendance time and fewer holidays. In this respect, the aim of this study is to analyse construction managers' requirements on work-life balance. The results showed that the working hours of construction managers were long and their leisure hours were shorter. The requirements for work-life balance were in the order of non-working time, working time, salary, and job security. The requirements by group showed a statistically significant difference in work hours. The requirements on the shortening of work hours were highest in the group of "section chiefs and deputy heads" and lowest in the group of "department heads" and up. It is hoped that the results of this study will be used as basic data for future government-level policy making and construction companies' business directions in relation to the improvement of workers' work-life balance.

  • 3D printing techniques have been recently adopted in the construction industry. It mainly utilizes additive manufacturing which is the fabrication process depositing successive layers of materials without any formworks. Conventional cementitious materials may not be directly applicable to 3D printing because 3D printable cementitious materials is required to satisfy such characteristics as pumpability, extrudability, and buildability in a fresh state. This study aimed to investigate rheological properties and required performances of 3D printable cementitious materials, by reviewing existing studies. Test methods and equipments, evaluation results and characteristics of mixture additives were compared. Based on reviews of existing studies, this study indicates that the viscosity is mainly relevant to the pumpability of 3D printable materials whereas the yield stress and thixotropy are important in securing buildability of the materials.
