Needs Analysis of Digital Citizenship Education for University Students in South Korea: Using Importance-Performance Analysis

  • The purpose of this study is to determine priorities for designing digital citizenship education based on the key indicators of importance-performance. Survey data were collected from 283 university students in South Korea and analyzed with Importance-Performance Analysis to diagnose the current level of digital citizenship and draw their needs for educational treatment. The results showed that for all the factors except the Technical Skills (TS), the level of importance was significantly higher than that of performance. Another finding indicated that in the Importance-Performance matrix all the factors were located in the first quadrant (i.e. maintaining the current state) and the third quadrant (i.e. low demands for improvement). Specifically, two items located in the second quadrant where urgent treatment is required could have to do with the increasingly active participation in socio-political issues raised in South Korea. This study offered a window into what to focus on when designing digital citizenship education based on the systematic analysis of the needs for digital citizenship education in South Korea.

Feature Selection Effect of Classification Tree Using Feature Importance : Case of Credit Card Customer Churn Prediction (특성중요도를 활용한 분류나무의 입력특성 선택효과 : 신용카드 고객이탈 사례)

  • For the purpose of predicting credit card customer churn accurately through data analysis, a model can be constructed with various machine learning algorithms, including decision tree. And feature importance has been utilized in selecting better input features that can improve performance of data analysis models for several application areas. In this paper, a method of utilizing feature importance calculated from the MDI method and its effects are investigated in the credit card customer churn prediction problem with classification trees. Compared with several random feature selections from case data, a set of input features selected from higher value of feature importance shows higher predictive power. It can be an efficient method for classifying and choosing input features necessary for improving prediction performance. The method organized in this paper can be an alternative to the selection of input features using feature importance in composing and using classification trees, including credit card customer churn prediction.

Importance and Performance of Dietitian's Task at Long Term Care Hospital Foodservice in Busan.Kyungnam Area (부산.경남지역 요양병원 영양사의 업무에 대한 중요도와 수행도 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate importance and performance of dietitian's task at long term care hospitals foodservices in the Busan Kyongnam area. The research was performed through using questionnaires and conducted from June 11 to July 16, 2010 for 186 dietitians at 141 long-term care hospitals. Seventy-two percent of hospitals had two dietitians and 69% of them had a dietitian's office. Fifty-two percent of dietitians has worked for less than 2 years at long term care hospital, and 37.1% of them worked additional tasks. Seventy-three percent of hospitals conducted a therapeutic diet program and the therapeutic diets frequently provided were diabetic diet > tube feeding diet > dysphasia diet > sodium controlled diet. Mean score for the importance (4.36/5.00) and performance (3.91/5.00) of dietitian's tasks were significantly different (p < 0.001). The importance and performance grid showed that the purchase-inspection management and sanitation-safety management were high scores to the importance and performance (doing great area), menu-foodservice management and cooking-working management were low scores to the importance and high scores to the importance (overdone area), and nutrition management was low scores to the importance and performance (low priority). Forty-three percent of dietitians agreed with the needs for role separation between foodservice dietitian and clinical dietitian.

Research on Relative Importance of Business Model Factors by Using AHP Method : Focused on Knowledge Service Firm (AHP분석을 활용한 비즈니스모델 구성요인의 상대적 중요도 연구 : 지식서비스기업을 대상으로)

  • This study analyzed relative importance among business model factors for improving business performance of Knowledge Service Enterprises using the Business Model methodology. It also compares and analyzes the relative importance of manufacturing enterprises by using the previous research conclusion. This study finds Product & Service factor(0.361) is the most important among Marketing(0.251), Financial aspects(0.234), and Infrastructure(0.154) are follows. For the sub factors, Value Proposition(0.254) is the most importance factors and Revenue Streams(0.154), and Key Activities(0.107), and Key Resources(0.100), and Channels(0.086) are follows. Also, The Marketing has higher relative importance for Manufacturing enterprises, whereas the Product&Service has higher relative importance for Knowledge Service Enterprises. It proves that there is a difference in the relative importance between Manufacturing Enterprises and Knowledge Service Enterprises. This study concludes the importance of business model factor is different for each respective industry. Therefore, it suggests to consider different industrial aspects when build the business model for each industry.

Analysis of Relative Importance of Key Performance Indicators for Center for Child-Care Foodservice Management through Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) (계층적 분석법(AHP)을 이용한 어린이급식관리지원센터 핵심성과지표(KPI)의 상대적 중요도 분석)

  • The objectives of this study were to assign reasonability to importance of weight selection issue in key performance indicator for performance evaluation of Centers for Child-care Foodservice Management (CCFSM) developed by using Balanced Scorecard (BSC), to draw key performance indicator (KPI) by perspective and to analyze differences in recognition on importance. From September 25 to October 9, 2012, we conducted a questionnaire-based study via e-mail, targeting chiefs and team leaders of nationwide 21 CCFSMs (43 persons), officials of local governments where CCFSM was established (21 persons), officials of Korea Food and Drug Administration (2 persons) and foodservice management experts (27 persons) in order to estimate the relative importance on 4 perspectives and 14 KPIs and analyzed its results by using 61 collected data. The results showed that relative importance of perspectives was estimated in order of importance as follows: business performance (0.3519), customer (0.3393), resource (0.1557), learning and growth (0.1531). Relative importance of KPIs was in order of importance as follows: Evaluation of sanitary management level in child-care foodservice facilities (0.1327), Level of customer recognition and behavior improvement (0.1153), performances of round visiting inspection on foodservice, sanitary, safety management, and foodservice consulting (0.0913). Our results showed that the recognition differences exist on the relative importance of perspectives and KPIs between officials of CCFSM, KFDA, local government and foodservice management experts. These observations will form the basis for developing evaluation systems, and it is considered that performance indicators developed on this basis will suggest direction of operation which CCFSM will have to perform.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyzes the Job of Dental Hygienists in Dental (Clinics) Hospitals the Capital region. This study analyzes the degree of job importance and education-training need about and task, task according to work place and work age. The results are as follows : (1) Job importance of dental hygienists were order 'photographing in Dental Radiology', 'Management of Dental clinic', 'Oral prophylaxis', in case education-training need was order 'dental health insurance', 'Oral prophylaxis', 'Management of Dental clinic'. duty more than 5.0 of job importance and education-training need was as 'dental health education', 'Oral prophylaxis', 'preventive dental treatment', 'dental assistance (cooperation)', 'photographing in Dental Radiology', 'dental health insurance', 'Management of Dental clinic', Duty of practice centering in Dental (Clinics) Hospitals except 'Public oral health'. (2) Job importance and education-training need of task increased most of job importance in proportion to education-training need. (3) No significantly between dental hospital hygienist and dental clinic hygienist difference of job importance and education-training need according to work place. but 'Management of Dental clinic' and 'dental health insurance' of dental hospital hygienist lower than dental clinic hygienist. (4) The results job importance compare less 3 years to more 3 years of dental hygienists were perceive significantly 'dental health education', 'Public oral health', 'dental health insurance', 'Management of Dental clinic' the other hand, education-training need was perceive significantly 'preventive dental treatment'.

A study on the factors related to the choice of dental clinics for worker in Seoul (서울시내 일부 근로자들의 치과 선택요인에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of company employees. The importance of the selection factors of dental clinics by demographic characteristics. Methods : The subjects of this study was 218 employees. In this study, structured were used. Results : As for perception of the importance of traffic convenience by general characteristics, the company employees who were male, who were married, who had children, who continued to work for a longer period and who were better paid placed more significance on traffic convenience among the selection factors of dental institutions, and the gaps between them and their counterparts were significant. Regarding perception of the importance of the physical environments of dental institutions by general characteristics, those who were in their 20s and in their 50s and up, who were less educated, who worked for a smaller period and who were less paid gave more weight on the importance of physical environments, and the gaps between them and their counterparts were significant. As to perception of the importance of the image of dental institutions by general characteristics, monthly pay made a significant difference to that. Concerning the external qualifications of dental personnels, they took a significantly different view according to their age and monthly pay. In relation to perception of the importance of dental service by general characteristics, the women attached more importance to dental service than the men, and the intergroup gap was significant. In regard to perception of the importance of the basic components of dental institutions by general characteristics, those who were in their 40s and up, who had children, who were better paid and who were assistant directors were significantly different from their counterparts in their opinions on the importance of the basic components of dental institutions. Conclusions : The findings of the study suggest that dental institutions should make efforts to provide patients with the best medical service to gain their confidence.

An Importance-Performance Analysis of patient safety activities for inpatients in small and medium-sized hospitals (중소병원 입원환자의 환자안전활동에 대한 중요도와 수행도 분석)

  • Purpose: This study aims to assess the importance and performance of patient safety activities for inpatients in small- and medium-sized hospitals. The objective is to identify the need for patient safety education by analyzing differences in importance and performance ratings. Methods: The study involved 300 patients hospitalized in three small- and medium-sized hospitals. Data collection took place in October 2023, focusing on investigating the importance and performance of patient safety activities. Descriptive statistics and an Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) were conducted using the IBM SPSS statistics 25.0 program. Results: The average importance of patient safety activities was 3.51±0.41, and the average performance was 3.37±0.43, indicating that the importance of patient safety activities was higher than their performance. According to the IPA, the components of patient safety activities that fell into the second quadrant of high importance but low performance included three medication-related items and one test/procedure/surgery-related item. Conclusion: In this study, it was found that inpatients in small- and medium-sized hospitals had a higher importance on patient safety activities than performance and needed ways to increase their performance. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a customized educational program that can increase the practical performance of inpatients' patient safety activities based on the contents that were determined to need improvement.

Evaluation of Dietitians' Perception of Importance about HACCP Guidelines in Foodservice Facilities (급식소 HACCP 관리항목에 대한 영양사의 중요성 인지도 평가)

  • The purpose of the study was to evaluate the perception of importance about HACCP guidelines of dietitians. A questionnaire was developed to achieve research objectives and sent to random samples of 500 dietitians by a mail ; 418(84%) responses were analyzed. The respondents used three-point-scale to rate their perception of importance about HACCP from 1-"will be necessary" to 3-"very important". All statistical analyses were conducted using SAS package(version 8.12) for Windows. Means and standard deviations were computed for all variables. One-way analysis of variance and Duncan's multiple range test were used to assess differences in the perception of importance about HACCP guidelines among business and industry, health care and school foodservice managers. The study results were summarized as follows. Dietitians especially had lower perception of importance on the contents of Critical Control Points(CCPs), such as; adequate thawing methods and keeping records(1.95) and correct cleaning and sterilizing for raw vegetables and fruits(1.93). The rates of perception of importance about HACCP guidelines were significantly different from 19 of the 37 contents among business and industry, health care and school foodservice(p<.05 or p<.01 or p<.001). Generally, the item related to purchasing and inspection management had the highest perception level score and the item related to pre-preparation management had the lowest perception level score in foodservice production process(p<.001). Results indicate that there is a need for increased education of dietitians about HACCP principles and appropriate practices.

Importance of and Influencing Factors on Nurses' Caring Behaviors for Elders with Dementia (간호사가 인지한 치매노인 돌봄행위의 중요도 및 영향요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the importance of nurses' caring behaviors and to identify influencing factors on nurses' caring behaviors for elders with dementia. Methods: Data were collected through questionnaires from 156 nurses in several demented elderly setting and analyzed by applying descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 16.0. Results: The average score for importance of nurses' caring behaviors was 3.55 and the 'attentive to other's experience' factor was the highest level. The mean score of nursing professional value was 8.46 and job satisfaction, 3.86. Importance of nurses' caring behaviors had a significant positive correlation with nursing professional value, job satisfaction and nurse's age. Four significant variables influencing importance of nurses' caring behaviors were job satisfaction, nursing professional value, working area of nurses and cognition dysfunction of elderly. Conclusion: With the results of this study, importance of nurses' caring behaviors can be improved by intervening the factors affecting this importance. Based on the findings of this study, further nursing practice and research for nurses' caring the elders with dementia should be focused on job satisfaction, nursing professional value, working area of nurses and cognitive dysfunction of elderly.
