먹이에 따른 파밤나방 발육과 DNA 메틸화 변이 (Variation in Development and DNA Methylation of Spodoptera exigua Fed with Different Diets)

  • 곤충 생리현상의 가소성은 후생유전적 변화와 밀접하게 관련을 지을 수 있다. 이 가설을 증명하기 위해 광식성인 파밤나방(Spodoptera exigua)을 대상으로 상이한 먹이 조건에 따라 이 곤충의 발육과 DNA 메틸화에 영향을 주는 지 분석하였다. 동일한 코호트로 부터 얻은 갓 부화한 유충을 최종령에 이르기까지 세 가지 다른 먹이(대파, 배추, 인공사료)로 섭식 처리하였다. 이 결과 상이한 먹이 조건에 따라 유충발육속도, 용화율 및 우화율에서 뚜렷한 차이를 보였다. 인공사료로 사육된 유충이 가장 빠른 유충발육속도와 높은 용화율 및 우화율을 나타냈다. 반면에 두 자연 기주 가운데는 대파가 배추에 비해 파밤나방 발육에 양호하였다. 이러한 먹이에 따른 변이는 혈림프 단백질 및 혈당에서도 차이가 나타났다. 또한 발육과 연계되었을 것으로 추정되는 인슐린유사펩타이드(SeILP1) 유전자의 발현 정도도 먹이조건에 따라 상이했다. 단일항체를 이용하여 파밤나방 게놈 DNA의 시토신 메틸화를 분석한 결과 이 부위에 DNA 메틸화가 검출되었으며, 메틸화 정도는 먹이 조건에 따라 상이했다. 이 결과들은 동일 집단의 파밤나방이 상이한 먹이 조건에 따라 발육차이를 나타내고 또한 시토신 메틸화에 변이를 보여 이 곤충의 생리적 가소성에 후생유전적 인자가 작용하고 있는 것을 제시한다.

Inhibition of Glycation End Products Formation and Antioxidant Activities of Ilex paraguariensis: comparative study of fruit and leaves extracts

  • Objectives: Ilex paraguariensis (Aquifoleaceae) is cultivated to produce "yerba mate". Due to its nutritional, energizing, hypoglycemic and antioxidant effects, it is used in the elaboration of food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. The oxidative stress related to protein glycation and production of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) leads to the development of several diseases. The objective of this work was to compare the antioxidant and anti-AGEs activity of a decoction of fruits (F) and leaves (L). Methods: The antioxidant activity was assayed by the DPPH assay and the inhibition of egg yolk lipid peroxidation (ILP), and anti-AGEs activity, through the inhibition of the formation of fructosamine (IF), β-amyloid (Iβ), protein carbonylation (IC) and AGEs (IA). Polyphenols were quantified by HPLC. Results: Maximum response ± SEM: For F 0.01 ㎍/mL: IF = 42 ± 4%, IC = 17 ± 2% and for 10 ㎍/mL: IA = 38 ± 4%, Iβ = 67 ± 7%. For L 0.1 ㎍/mL: IF = 35 ± 2%, IC = 19 ± 2% and for 100 ㎍/mL: IA = 26 ± 3%, Iβ = 63.04 ± 2%. The DPPH IC50 = 134.8 ± 14 ㎍/mL for F and 34.67 ± 3 ㎍/mL for L. The ILP IC50 = 512.86 ± 50 ㎍/mL for F and 154.8 ± 15 ㎍/mL for L. By HPLC L presented the highest amounts of flavonoids and caffeoylquinic acids. F and L showed strong anti-AGEs activity, affecting the early stages of glycation at low concentrations and the late stages of glycation at high concentrations. The highest activity for both F and L was seen in the IF and Iβ. F presented the highest anti-AGEs potency. L presented the highest antioxidant potency, which was related to the highest content of polyphenols. Conclusion: The fruits of I. paraguariensis could be a source of antioxidant and anti-AGEs compounds to be used with medicinal purposes or as functional food.

Closed Walk Ferry Route Design for Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Message ferry is a controllable mobile node with large capacity and rechargeable energy to collect information from the sensors to the sink in wireless sensor networks. In the existing works, route of the message ferry is often designed from the solutions of the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) and its variants. In such solutions, the ferry route is often a simple cycle, which starts from the sink, access all the sensors exactly once and moves back to the sink. In this paper, we consider a different case, where the ferry route is a closed walk that contains more than one simple cycle. This problem is defined as the Closed Walk Ferry Route Design (CWFRD) problem in this paper, which is an optimization problem aiming to minimize the average weighted delay. The CWFRD problem is proved to be NP-hard, and the Integer Linear Programming (ILP) formulation is given. Furthermore, a heuristic scheme, namely the Initialization-Split-Optimization (ISO) scheme is proposed to construct closed walk routes for the ferry. The experimental results show that the ISO algorithm proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the average weighted delay compared to the existing simple cycle based scheme.

고급 언어에서 ASIP을 위한 전용 부호 생성 기술 연구 (A Custom Code Generation Technique for ASIPs from High-level Language)

  • In this paper, we discuss a code generation technique for custom transport triggered architecture (TTA) from a high-level language structure. This methodology is implemented by using TTA-based Co-design Environment (TCE) tool. The results show how the scheduler exploits instruction level parallelism in the custom target architecture and source program. Thus, the scheduler generates parallel TTA instructions using lower cycle counts than the sequential scheduling algorithm. Moreover, we take Tensilica tool to make a comparison with TCE. Because of the efficiency of TTA, TCE takes less execution cycles compared to Tensilica configurations. Finally, this paper shows that it requires only 7 cycles to generate the parallel TTA instruction set for implementing Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) applications as an input design, and presents the code generation technique to move complexity from the processor software to hardware architecture. This method can be applicable lots of channel Codecs like CRC and source Codecs like High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC).

적극적인 명령어 압축을 통한 성능향상 (Performance Improvement Through Aggressive Instruction Packing)

  • 본 논문에서는 독립적으로 스케쥴링할 수 있는 VLIW 명령어들을 소개함으로써, 컴파일러와 프로세서에서의 스케줄링 작업을 더욱 균등하게 분배할 수 있는 프로세서 구조를 제안하였다. 제안한 APVLIW(Aggressively Packed VLIW) 프로세서의 목표는 자료종속성을 포함한 VLIW 명령어들을 독립적으로 스케줄링이다. APVLIW 프로세서는 기존의 VLIW 코드로부터 대부분의 NOP(No Operations)과 LNOP(Long NOPs) 명령어들을 제거함으로써 압축된 형태의 긴명령어 그룹을 생성한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 APVLIW 프로세서는 여러 개의 연산처리기와 동적 스케줄러의 쌍들과 자료종속성 정보를 사용하여 긴명령어내의 각 명령어를 독립적으로 스케줄링할 수 있다. 이러한 스케줄링 기법은 특히 루프를 포함한 프로그램을 실행할 때 효과적이다. 실험 결과를 통해서 캐시크기의 변화와 벤치마크 프로그램에 상관없이 APVLIW 프로세서가 VLIM 프로세서에 비하여 성능이 향상됨을 확인하였다.

A Dynamic Placement Mechanism of Service Function Chaining Based on Software-defined Networking

  • To cope with the explosive growth of Internet services, Service Function Chaining (SFC) based on Software-defined Networking (SDN) is an emerging and promising technology that has been suggested to meet this challenge. Determining the placement of Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) and routing paths that optimize the network utilization and resource consumption is a challenging problem, particularly without violating service level agreements (SLAs). This problem is called the optimal SFC placement problem and an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) formulation is provided. A greedy heuristic solution is also provided based on an improved two-step mapping algorithm. The obtained experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can automatically place VNFs at the optimal locations and find the optimal routing paths for each online request. This algorithm can increase the average request acceptance rate by about 17.6% and provide more than 20-fold reduction of the computational complexity compared to the Greedy algorithm. The feasibility of this approach is demonstrated via NetFPGA-10G prototype implementation.

좌굴해석을 이용한 리드프레임 타발용 펀치의 보강설계 (Design of the Stiffened Punch for Stamping of Lead Frame by Buckling Analysis)

  • The lead frame manufactured by stamping process plays an important role in connecting semiconductor to PCB board. As a result of the miniaturization of semiconductor, its corresponding lead frame punch has been narrow. In case of the punch with high slenderness ratio such as lead frame punch, the punch can be broken suddenly due to buckling. To prevent the fracture of lead frame punch, some manufacturers have experientially attached stiffeners to weak parts of punch. The purpose of this study, therefore, is to suggest the guideline far design of stiffened punch. The optimal position and the number of stiffeners to be attached to punch are investigated by elastic buckling analysis. The elastic buckling analysis consists of the eigenvalue buckling analysis and nonlinear buckling analysis. The critical buckling load of elastic buckling analysis is compared with that of buckling test. Finally, the guideline far attaching stiffeners is suggested through analysis of cross section of lead frame punch such as moment of inertia and eccentricity.

Targeted Silencing of Inhibitors of Apoptosis Proteins with siRNAs: A Potential Anti-cancer Strategy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

  • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies, with a very poor prognosis. Despite significant improvements in diagnosis and treatment in recent years, the long-term therapeutic efficacy is poor, partially due to tumor metastasis, tecurrence, and resistance to chemo-or radio-therapy. Recently, it was found that a major feature of tumors is a combination of unrestrained cell proliferation and impaired apoptosis. There are now 8 recogized members of the IAP-family: NAIP, c-IAP1, c-IAP2, XIAP, Survivin, Bruce, Livin and ILP-2. There proteins all contribute to ingibition of apoptosis, and provide new potential avenues of cancer treatment. As a powerful tool to suppress gene expression in mammalian cells, RNAi species for inhibiting IAP genes cab be directed against cancers. This review will provide a brief introduction to recent developments of the application IAP-siRNA in tumor studies, with the aim of inspiring future treatment of HCC.

향상된 설계공간을 갖는 혼합 가산기 구조와 최적화 (Extending the Design Space of Adder Architectures and Its Optimization)

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 캐리 전달 방식(carry propagation scheme)이 단일 가산기 설계를 위하여 복합적으로 사용되는 가산기 구조물 제안하며. 이를 통하여 보다 향상된 delay-area trade-off 점들을 갖는 설계공간을 생성한다. 제안된 구조의 가산기는 각기 다른 캐리전달 방식의 하부 가산기 블록들을 캐리 입/출력 신호를 선형으로 연결한 구조이며, 기존의 단일 캐리전달 방식의 가산기와 달리, 다양한 delay-area trade-off 특성을 갖는 여러 종류의 캐리전달 방식을 비트 수준에서 조합하여 사용함으로써 보다 섬세한 delay-area 설계공간을 생성해낼 수 있다. 그러나, 제안된 가산기 구조의 설계공간은 다양한 캐리전달 방식이 비트 수준에서 할당되므로, 할당가능한 설계 조합은 설계하고자 하는 가산기의 비트 폭과 고려하는 캐리전달 방식의 수에 비례하여 폭발적으로 증가하게 된다. 따라서, 제안된 가산기의 효율적이며, 자동화된 설계공간 탐색 방범이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 이를 해결하기 위하여 정수 선형 프로그래밍 (Integer Linear Programming, ILP) 방법을 이용하여 제안한 가산기의 최적화 문제를 형식화함으로써 효과적인 설계공간의 탐색 방법을 제안하였다.

ASTAS: Architecture for Scalable and Transparent Anycast Services

  • Native information provider(IP) anycast suffers from routing scalability issues and the lack of stateful communication support. For this reason, we propose architecture for scalable and transparent anycast services(ASTAS), a proxy-based architecture that provides support for stateful anycast communications, while retaining the transparency offered by native anycast. Dynamic resource assignment for each initiated session guarantees that a connection is established with the most suitable target server, based on network and server conditions. Traffic engineering in the overlay can be realized in an effective way due to the dissemination of aggregated state information in the anycast overlay. To minimize the total deployment cost for ASTAS architectures, we propose optimized proxy placement and path finding heuristics based on look-ahead information gathered in network nodes. Contrary to a regular integer linear program(ILP) formulation, these heuristics allow to optimize proxy placement in large networks. A use case on a European reference network illustrates that lower proxy costs enable proxy deployment closer to the end-users, resulting in a reduced network load.
