Design of 2-D IIR Digital Filters Based on a Particle Swam Optimization (Particle Swarm Optimization을 이용한 2차원 IIR 디지털필터의 설계)

  • This paper presents an efficient design method of 2-D infinite impulse response(IIR) digital filter based on a particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm. The design task is reformulated as a constrained minimization problem and is solved by our newly developed PSO algorithm. To ensure the stability of the designed 2-D IIR digital filters, a new stability strategy is embedded in the basic PSO algorithm. The superiority of the proposed method is demonstrated by several experiments. The results show that the approximation error of the resultant filters are better than those of the digital filters which designed by recently published filter design methods. The proposed design method can also obtain the stable2-D IIR digital filters.

  • This paper presents an evolutionary design of digital IIR filters using the genetic algorithm (GA) with modified genetic operators and real-valued encoding. Conventional digital IIR filter design methods involve algebraic transformations of the transfer function of an analog low-pass filter (LPF) that satisfies prescribed filter specifications. Other types of frequency-selective digital fillers as high-pass (HPF), band-pass (BPF), and band-stop (BSF) filters are obtained by appropriate transformations of a prototype low-pass filter. In the GA-based digital IIR filter design scheme, filter coefficients are represented as a set of real-valued genes in a chromosome. Each chromosome represents the structure and weights of an individual filter. GA directly finds the coefficients of the desired filter transfer function through genetic search fur given filter specifications of minimum filter order. Crossover and mutation operators are selected to ensure the stability of resulting IIR filters. Other types of filters can be found independently from the filter specifications, not from algebraic transformations.

  • This paper proposes a methodology to estimate the system coefficients for the infinite impulse response(IIR) digital filters using real code GA. In the traditional real coded GA, it adapts the general genetic operations, whereas in this paper the proposed real coded GA applies improved genetic operations in order to search the optimal solution in given problems. Each of unknown IIR digital coefficients collected as forms of a chromosome. Two illustrative examples including the band pass and band stop IIR digital filters are demonstrated to verify the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a low-Power DDC(Digital Down Converters) architecture for IF(Intermediate frequency) signal processing. It is shown that concept of conventional interpolated FIR filters can be expanded to IIR filters for DDC applications. Also in the paper, power dissipations for the proposed architecture and conventional ones are estimated.

  • Adaptive design of IIR digiral filters using equation error method has been studied. In this paper, a design technique of IIR digital filters using output error method with adaptive compensator is presented. In computer simulation results, it is shown that flat response characteristic in pass-band, below-40[dB] attenuation characteristic in stop-band, sharf cut-off characteristic in transition-band, and phase characteristic is linearin pass-band.

  • In this paper, we present a method of realizing an infinite impulse response (IIR) digital filter (DF)using linear delta modulation (LDM) as a simple analog/digital (A/D) converter. This method makes the realization of IIR digital filters much simpler than that of conventional ones because it does not require hardware multipliers and a pulse code modulation (PCM) A/D converter. Compared to the finite impulse respponse (FIR) LDMDF of Lee and Un [1] , this IIR LDMDF requires significantly less computation time.

  • This paper develops a design technique for approximating nonseparable frequency characteristics by sums and products of separable transfer functions. Therefore nonseparable frequency characteristics includes the four-quadrant symmetry filters. The desired filter with half plan symmetry is obtained by shifting a low pass characteristic in the frequency domain, and by combining these shifted characteristics. Also the paper develops the technique for designing recursive and nonrecursive two dimensional digital filters by the application of a complex transformation to one dimensional low pass filter.

  • Noise can make surrounding environments inferior and deteriorates operation efficiency, and it can bring aural damage as well as give a person psychological stress. Therefore, necessity of study about noise control is increased for better labor conditions and agreeable habitat. In this paper, implementation of active mufflers using a stable IIR adaptive filters is presented. The IIR filter structure is more effective when acoustic feedback exists, but the adaptive IIR filters could be unstable when the filter algorithm is not yet converged. A stabilizing process for adaptive IIR filter is introduced in this paper. Experiments using a TMS320C32 digital signal processor have performed to show the effectiveness of a proposed algorithm.

  • This paper has been proposed a structure composed of FIRs and IIR filters as digital decimation filter to compensate the drooping inband on the high precision AU chips. The area of chip has been reduced compared with the conventional structure because the RAM and MAC is reduced. The passband ripple$(\leq\; 0.4535 \times fs)$, passband attenuation(at $\; 0.4535 \times fs$ and stopband attenuation$(\geq\; 0.59\times fs)$ of the 6th-order $\Delta\Sigma$ modulator and digital decimation filter had $\pm0.0007[dB]$, -0.0013[dB] and -110[dB] respectively. Also the inband group delay, which was almost same compared with the conventional digital decimation filter structure, was 30.07/fs[s] band the error of group delay was 0.1672%.

  • In this paper, we have studied on the IIR digital filters design using Elliptic functions. In process of transformation to digital fouctions from analos Elliptic functions, Bilinear z transformation method has been silized. Designing of digital filter using the Bilinear z transformation the problems of aliasing can be avoidedm whereas the frequency distrotion is generated. The transformation form analog function to digital function is not equal in the region of the cut off frequency response caused by this effect. Avoiding the problem of this effect, we have used proewarping method. Finally, the magnitude characteristics of digital filters are compared with its of analog filters by computer simulation. The results have shown that the magnitude characteristics of digital filters by the prewarping method have made more remarkable improvement than its of analog filters.
