  • We have investited on the efficiency of the electric vacuum cleaners for household use. On this experiment, we have used the Expired Gas Analyer IHO6(SAN-EI, K.K) to get energy expenditure of house cleaning. The testing items are, (1) The difference of energy expenditure of cleaning for the each types of the test floors: Which are P-tile, Tatami, and 4 kinds of carpets. (2) The energy expenditure of cleaning for the room with a given quantity of furnitures: The volumes of furnitures are 0, 3, 10, 20% of the room with 2 kinds of chair. The results of the experiments are as follows. 1. The energy expenditure of cleaning for the types of test floors: Setting the energy expenditure on the basis of P-tile, Tatami needs 20~24% energy expenditure than P-tile, and carpet needs 60~64% energy expenditure than P-tile. 2. Cleaning time: The more the room has many furnitures, the more it takes longer. The types of vacuum cleaners, the Shoulder-type cleaner needs 1.19 times of the Upright-type, and the Cylender-type needs 1.08 times of the Upright-type. 3. The energy expenditure of cleaning for a given quantity of furnitures: The more the rooms has many furnitures, the more the energy expenditure increase. A 10% (20%) increases in the volume of the furniture causes a 100% (200%) increases in the energy expenditure of vacuum cleaners.

  • The Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) is an integral component of ship navigation equipment, that enables mariners to view Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC). Recently, it has become possible to transport freight and energy resources via the Northern Sea Routes (NSR) as global warming has been accelerating. However, ice can impact all types of ships and the potential danger that ice poses is significant. Until now, ice, consistently proven to be one of the most dangerous threats impacting navigation in ice-covered regions, has its detailed standard in the specification of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) for ECDIS. The investigations described in this paper were conducted to assess the advantages and problems of the display of ice objects on ECDIS. The experiments were conducted by using the Geographic Information System (GIS) to perform ice objects with their corresponding colors and symbols. Implementation of the standardized appearance of ice objects can enable mariners to access the ice condition of seas in a short time before navigating a safe passage through potentially treacherous waters. However, remain issues that must be overcome for data on ice to be fully compatible with an ECDIS system.

  • The medical sector actively changes and implements innovative features in response to technical development and revolutions. Many of the most crucial elements in IoT-connected health services are safeguarding critical patient records from prospective attackers. As a result, BlockChain (BC) is gaining traction in the business sector owing to its large implementations. As a result, BC can efficiently handle everyday life activities as a distributed and decentralized technology. Compared to other industries, the medical sector is one of the most prominent areas where the BC network might be valuable. It generates a wide range of possibilities and probabilities in existing medical institutions. So, throughout this study, we address BC technology's widespread application and influence in modern medical systems, focusing on the critical requirements for such systems, such as trustworthiness, security, and safety. Furthermore, we built the shared ledger for blockchain-based healthcare providers for patient information, contractual between several other parties. The study's findings demonstrate the usefulness of BC technology in IoHT for keeping patient health data. The BDSA-IoHT eliminates 2.01 seconds of service delay and 1.9 seconds of processing time, enhancing efficiency by nearly 30%.

  • This paper deals with a possible contribution to international relations and affairs by the discipline of geography and raises the necessity of a new field in geography that would study relations between nations. The proposed change of the name 'East Sea' is used as a case study in promoting international standardization. Two major international organizations oversee the international standardization of geographical names. One is the UN Conferences of the Standardization of the Geographical Names which work in association with the UN Group of Experts on Geographical Names, and the other is the International Hydrographic Organization. These two organizations have in the past passed all the relevant resolutions pertaining to geographical names. From recent developments on the Korean Peninsula, however, it has become evident that international disputes on place names sometimes require a long process of consultation with the relevant parties. Efforts being made to restore the historically appropriate name of 'East Sea' as opposed to the 'Sea of Japan' have only now begun to diffuse in many areas. It would be appropriate if geographers could develop a new area of 'Geography of International Relations' that deals with WTO, oceans, environment and climatic issues, FAT, as well as territories and boundaries. Furthermore, it would improve the quality of discourse if geographers participated more in the decision-making processes in international affairs.

  • On July 1 2012, the carriage requirement for ECDIS became mandatory in a phased-in manner. The system has since been widely used as a core bridge navigation system and as a replacement for paper charts with a back up arrangement. However operational anomalies have been found in the system internationally. IMO and IHO have recognised these anomalies and seek for solution. This study has been conducted on a survey of seafarers on the use of ECDIS with regard to anomalies identification, level of the seafarer satisfaction and requirements for further functional improvement. From the results, the ECDIS user focused requirements suggested on strengthening the level of navigational safety and efficiency. The efficiency of using main functions of ECDIS was positively evaluated. However, there were concerns regarding its operational safety.

  • As a marine leisure industry has being developed and demands for leisure culture have rapidly increased, the needs for services offering marine safety and related information are growing. Accordingly, in the study I developed the contents providing server to support this with ENC agent who presents geographical information of digitalized Electronic Nautical Chart satisfying with the standard(S-57) by International Hydrographic Organization and a web searching agent who builds a database by collecting marine-related information in order to provide a variety of realtime information such as weather, fishing and news. In addition, I designed and embodied network based mobile contents which can be presented on a WIPI(Wireless Internet Platform for Interoperability) based portable handset by receiving an ENC and other processed information from server. With the results produced by such experiments, I measured a compressibility corresponding to a image compression format of electronic nautical chart transmitted and analyzed the correlation between increase in packets of requested information and the cost.

  • In this paper, we propose a standardization strategy for next generation electronic navigational chart which can be classified as S-100 Universal Hydrographic Data Model, to accept various requirements arising from various marine information and services as well as support e-navigation service strategies. IMO uses the next generation electronic chart standard, S-100 as Common Maritime Data Structure. It means that a common data model is needed as a key element for realization of e-Navigation and also points out that a new ICT convergence paradigm is needed not only for marine safety but also for maritime information and services. this paper considers he model-based data representation and reference model in order to understand the content and use of the S-100 standard and also considers the interconnectivity and role of the ISO/TC211 standards, which are being used as base standards for profiling to develop S-100 standard. Finally, we look at what standardization items are required for standardization of next generation electronic navigational chart supporting multi-purpose and how they are used mutually.

  • The importance of mathematics is increasing as human beings are entering the 4th industrial revolution era from the information society. In response to this trend, the government is also paying a lot of attention to math education by addressing 2012 mathematics education as 'the year of mathematics education.' However, many students are still suffering from mathematics and they feel math is difficult and even give up math. For this cause, students who give up math are showing up a lot in middle and high schools. For these math low achievers, the government, educational institutions, research institutes, and schools are creating and implementing a lot of programs. Among these programs, there is also a program called Math Clinic counseling. However, most of these math clinic counseling end up in a one-time events or are not linked to class because counselors and math teachers are different. So, this research focuses on this fact : gap between math clinical counseling and real mathematics class. The study analyze the reasons of the cause of low level of self-confidence in math and high level of math anxiety from the students. And it suggests some strategies for the individual students base on their difficulties. Applying these strategies to the students, the study mainly focused on how the strategies are presented in real class by observing practical classes.

  • The e-Navigation promoted by the International Maritime Organization is a technology that provides marine-related information necessary for ship and shore side by electronic means for marine safety, security and protecting marine environment. The IHO S-100 standard is a geospatial standard that can express various hydrographic information. Various specifications including S-101 for electronic charts are being developed. In this paper, to help developers who are interested in implementing the technology of S-100, we not only analyze the process to portray the S-100 based data but also implement a case study on S-129 under keel clearance management. The portrayal process consists of data encoding and portrayal engine. Data encoding includes generation of application schema and data set. Portrayal engine is performed by the reform of the generated data set, the XSLT processing, and then the generation of drawing instructions.
