  • The Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT) are commonly used in signal processing applications, in particular in digital communication sys-tems using the multi-carrier modulation principle. In such systems an IDFT is computed at the transmitter end, and a DFT at the re-ceiver end. This paper examines a technique of computations, for which only negligible differences appear between the DFT and the IDFT calculations while the number of arithmetic operations re-quired is substantially reduced. This offers significant advantages for the design of an IDFT/DFT processor for Discrete Multitone(DMT) systems.

  • This paper proposes an interconnect delay fault test (IDFT) solution on boards and SoCs based on IEEE 1149.1 and IEEE P1500. A new IDFT system clock rising edge generator which forces output boundary scan cells to update test data at the rising edge of system clock and input boundary scan cells to capture the test data at the next rising edge of the system clock is introduced. Using this proposed circuit, IDFT for interconnects synchronized to different system clocks in frequency can be achieved efficiently. Moreover, the proposed IDFT technique does not require any modification of the boundary scan cells or the standard TAP controller and simplifies the test procedure and reduces the area overhead.

  • In this paper, we address the OFDM based on DFT or DCT in Cognitive Radio system. An adaptive OFDM based on DFT or DCT in Cognitive Radio system has the capacity to nullify individual carriers to avoid interference to the licensed users. Therefore, there could be a considerably large number of zero-valued inputs/outputs for the IDFT/DFT or IDCT/DCT on the OFDM transceiver. Hence, the standard methods of DFT and DCT are no longer efficient due to the wasted operations on zero. Based on this observation, we present a transform decomposition on two dimensional(2-D) systolic array for IDFT/DFT and IDCT/DCT, this algorithm can achieve an efficient computation for OFDM in Cognitive Radio system

  • In this paper, we propose a reduced-state sequence estimation (RSSE) for trellis coded modulation (TCM) in OFDM with two-stage IDFT/ DFTs, MMSE-LE, and interleaving on frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. The Viterbi algorithm (VA) is used to search for the best path through the reduced-state trellis combined with equalization and TCM decoding. Computer simulations confirm the bit error probability of the proposed scheme.

  • This paper introduces an interconnect delay fault test (IDFT) controller on boards and system-on-chips (SoCs) with IEEE 1149.1 and IEEE 1500 wrappers. By capturing the transition signals launched during one system clock, interconnect delay faults operated by different system clocks can be simultaneously tested with our technique. The proposed IDFT technique does not require any modification on boundary scan cells. Instead, a small number of logic gates needs to be plugged around the test access port controller. The IDFT controller is compatible with the IEEE 1149.1 and IEEE 1500 standards. The superiority of our approach is verified by implementation of the controller with benchmark SoCs with IEEE 1500 wrapped cores.

  • As an FMT (Filtered Multi-Tone) transmission method of Wideband VHF communication system specified by the ETS (European Telecommunications Standards) EN 300 392-2, this paper introduces three existing realization methods, i.e., the direct filtering method using different band SRRC (Square-Root Raised Cosine) filters for each subcarrier, the PPN-DFT method using the IDFT-PPN (Poly-Phase Network) and PPN-DFT at the transmitter and receiver, respectively, and the Extended DFT method. Then, it proposes the extended IDFT-SDFT (Sliding Discrete Fourier Transform) that computes the DFT values only for interested subcarriers every sample time, and shows that it has an advantage of blind symbol timing (using no training symbol) individually for each user signal (independently of other users' signals) in the multi-user environment where the subcarriers are assigned in contiguous or interleaved blocks to each user and each user signal possibly experiences different channels.

  • This paper is aimed to design 9.2 kbps low bits late transform excitation coder that target to voice and audio signal. To set up low bit rate, we used Band-selection in frequency domain and gain-shape quantization and AbS structure. To decrease lots of calculation from ABS structure, we used each band IDFT and synthesis. And we designed non-transfer band for performance by inserting comfort noise. We propose coder that has low bit rate and similar performance comparing with original 10.4 kbps AMR-WB+ TCX mode.

  • In this paper, we present a new formulation using time-domain electric field integral equation (TD-EFIE) to obtain transient scattering response from arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional conducting bodies. The time derivative of the magnetic vector potential is approximated with a central finite difference and the scalar potential is time averaged by dividing it into two terms. This approach with an implicit method using central difference results in accurate and more stable transient scattering responses from conducting objects. Detailed mathematical steps are included and several numerical results are presented and compared with the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) of the frequency-domain solution.

  • In this paper, we present a stable solution of the transient electromagnetic scattering from the conducting objects. This method does not utilize the conventional marching-on in time (MOT) solution. Instead we solve the time domain integral equation by expressing the transient behavior of the induced current in terms of weighted Laguerre polynomials. By using this basis functions for the temporal variation, the time derivative in the integral equation can be handled analytically. Since these temporal basis functions converge to zero as time progresses, the transient response of the induced current does not have a late time oscillation. To show the validity of the proposed method, we solve a time domain electric feld integral equation and compare the results of MOT, Mie solution, and the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) of the solution obtained in the frequency domain.
