Familial Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease with V180I Mutation Presented with Broca's Aphasia (브로카실어증으로 발현한 가족성 V180I 변이 Creutzfeldt-Jakob병)

  • Familial Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (fCJD) is characteristic with older age onset, relatively low occurrence rate, slower progression and lower possibility of developing myoclonus, cerebellar, pyramidal signs and visual disturbance compared with classical sporadic CJD. We report a case of 75-year-old male patient presented with sudden onset of right side weakness with Broca's aphasia who has been diagnosed with fCJD with V180I mutation. This case indicates that fCJD with V180I mutation can have stroke-like initial presentation.

  • D.K. Harrison [5] has shown that if R and S are fields of characteristic different from 2, then two Witt rings W(R) and W(S) are isomorphic if and only if W(R)/I(R)$^{3}$ and W(S)/I(S)$^{3}$ are isomorphic where I(R) and I(S) denote the fundamental ideals of W(R) and W(S) respectively. In [1], J.K. Arason and A. Pfister proved a corresponding result when the characteristics of R and S are 2, and, in [9], K.I. Mandelberg proved the result when R and S are commutative semi-local rings having 2 a unit. In this paper, we prove the result when R and S are 2-fold full rings. Throughout this paper, unless otherwise specified, we assume that R is a commutative ring having 2 a unit. A quadratic space (V, B, .phi.) over R is a finitely generated projective R-module V with a symmetric bilinear mapping B: V*V.rarw.R which is nondegenerate (i.e., the natural mapping V.rarw.Ho $m_{R}$ (V, R) induced by B is an isomorphism), and with a quadratic mapping .phi.:V.rarw.R such that B(x,y)=(.phi.(x+y)-.phi.(x)-.phi.(y))/2 and .phi.(rx)= $r^{2}$.phi.(x) for all x, y in V and r in R. We denote the group of multiplicative units of R by U(R). If (V, B, .phi.) is a free rank n quadratic space over R with an orthogonal basis { $x_{1}$, .., $x_{n}$}, we will write < $a_{1}$,.., $a_{n}$> for (V, B, .phi.) where the $a_{i}$=.phi.( $x_{i}$) are in U(R), and denote the space by the table [ $a_{ij}$ ] where $a_{ij}$ =B( $x_{i}$, $x_{j}$).   • Six different types of joining between two parallel high Tc super-conducting tapes were prepared and I-V characteristic curves were obtained at the atmosphere of liquid nitrogen. Resistances in joint parts were estimated from I-V curves. We selected the best jointing method among these six methods and its availability for fabricating HTS field coils is discussed.

  • In this paper, we proposed a dual-directional SCR (silicon-controlled rectifier) based ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection circuit. In comparison with conventional SCR, this ESD protection circuit can provide an effective protection against ESD pulses in the two opposite directions, so the ESD protection circuit can be discharged in two opposite direction. The proposed circuit has a higher holding voltage characteristic than conventional SCR. These characteristic enable to have latch-up immunity under normal operating conditions as well as superior full chip ESD protection. it was analyzed to figure out electrical characteristics in term of individual design parameters. They are investigated by using the Synopsys TCAD simulator. In the simulation results, it has trigger voltage of 6.5V and holding voltage increased with different design parameters. The holding voltage of the proposed circuit changes from 2.1V to 6.3V and the proposed circuit has symmetrical I-V characteristic for positive and negative ESD pulse.

  • This paper describes a circuit based simulation model for a Photovoltaic(PV) cell in order to estimate the electrical behavior of the solar cell module with changes of environmental parameters such as shunt resistance, series resistance, temperature and irradiance. An accurate I-V model of PV module is presented based on the Shockley diode model. The general model was implemented on Matlab scrip file, and used irradiance and temperature as variables and outputs of the I-V characteristic. A typical PV module was used for the evaluation, and results was compared with reference taken directly from the manufacturer's published curves leading to excellent agrement with the theoretical prediction.

  • The four-layered(metal/insulator/n epi-layer/p+) controlled inversion devices have been fabricated. The I-V curve showed two characteristic states―an On state and an OFF state which were separated by a negative resistance region. The switching voltage and the holding voltage were about 5.0V and 2.5V, respectively. The switching voltage of the device was decreased by photo illumination while the holding voltage remained unaffected.

  • In this paper, we analyze the I-V curve and hot-spot phenomenon caused by solar cells' serial and parallel connected circuit. The mis-match loss of parallel interconnection with low Isc string decrease lower than serially interconnected one and temperature caused by hot-spot does. Also, mis-match loss of parallel interconnection with low Voc string increase more than serially interconnected one. The string having low Voc happened hot-spot phenomenon when open circuit. The bad solar cell in string gives revere bias to good solar cell and make hot-spot phenomenon. If we consider the mis-match loss, when designing PV module and array. the efficiency of PV system might increase.

  • This paper is discribed the results of insulation characteristic tests that are DC leakage current, test, tan${\delta}$ test, AC breakdown test and observation of tree in the used 6.6kV CV cables. In the correlation of these tests, the tan${\delta}$ test stands for the main deterioration factor of cable insulation.

  • This paper presents neural network-based recognition system for automatic light emitting diode (LED) inspection. The back-propagation neural network (BPNN) is proposed and tested. The current-voltage (I-V) characteristic data of LED from the inspection process is used for the network training and testing. This study selects 300 random samples as network training and employs 100 samples as network testing. The experimental results show that if the classification work is done well, the accuracy of recognition is 100%, and the testing speed of the proposed recognition system is almost one half faster than the traditional inspection system does. The proposed neural-network approach is successfully demonstrated by real data sets and can be effectively developed as a recognition system for a practical application purpose.
