가상 필드에서 초등학생들의 과학적 탐구를 도와주는 멀티미디어 보조 도구 (Multimedia Scaffolding Tools to Help Children's Scientific Investigation in a Virtual Field)

  • 가상 필드는 초등학생들이 수학이나 과학에서 많이 필요로 하는 관찰력과 과학적 탐구 능력을 키워주기 위해 만들어진 시뮬레이션 가상현실 환경이다. 지난 4년간 가상 필드는 한 초등학교의 여러 학년 학생들을 상대로 사용되었는데, 가상 필드에서 탐색을 하던 학생들이 방향감을 잃어버리거나 또 자료 수집에 어려움을 보이는 등 여러 가지 문제점이 발견되었다. 이렇게 발견된 문제들을 해결하고 학생들이 좀 더 원활하게 자료 수집을 쉽게 할 수 있도록 도와주기 위해 처음에는 단순히 종이를 이용하는 형태에서 점진적으로 다양한 멀티미디어 환경을 이용하는 프로그램들을 개발하여 학생들에게 제공하였다. 이 논문에서는 초등학생들이 가상현실을 교육에 사용하면서 발생했던 문제점들을 기술하고 그것을 해결하기 위해 제공된 프로그램들을 설명한다. 또한 이런 프로그램들이 어떻게 사용자들의 행동에 영향을 주었는가에 대해서 설명한다.

The bio-complex "reaction pattern in vertebrate cells" reduces cytokine-induced cellular adhesion molecule mRNA expression in human endothelial cells by attenuation of NF-kappaB translocation

  • The bio-complex "reaction pattern in vertebrate cells"(RiV) is mainly represented by characteristic exosome-like particles - probably as reaction products of cells to specific stress. The transcription factor NF-kappaB plays a central role in inflammation. We tested the hypothesis that RiV particle preparations (RiV-PP) reduce cellular adhesion molecule (CAM) expression (ICAM-1, VCAM-1, E-selectin) by the attenuation of NF-kappaB translocation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). After 4 hours, pre-incubation of HUVEC with RiV-PP before stimulation with TNF-alpha significantly reduced ICAM-1 (65.5${\pm}$10.3%) and VCAM-1 (71.1${\pm}$12.3%) mRNA expression compared to TNF-alpha-treated cells (100%, n=7). ICAM-1 surface expression was significantly albeit marginally reduced in RiV/TNF-alpha- treated cells (92.0${\pm}$5.6%, n=4). No significant effect was observed on VCAM-1 surface expression. In RiV/TNF-alpha-treated cells (n=4), NF-kappaB subunits p50 (85.7${\pm}$4.1%) and p65 (85.0${\pm}$1.8%) nuclear translocation was significantly reduced. RiV-PP may exert an anti-inflammatory effect in HUVEC by reducing CAM mRNA expression via attenuation of p50 and p65 translocation.

  • A k-dimensional vector bundle is a bundle ${\xi}=(E,P,B,F^k)$ with fibre $F^k$ satisfying the local triviality, where F is the field of real numbers R or complex numbers C ([1], [2] and [3]). Let $Vect_k(X)$ be the set consisting of all isomorphism classes of k-dimensional vector bundles over the topological space X. Then $Vect_F(X)=\{Vect_k(X)\}_{k=0,1,{\cdots}}$ is a semigroup with Whitney sum (${\S}1$). For a pair (X, A) of topological spaces, a difference isomorphism over (X, A) is a vector bundle morphism ([2], [3]) ${\alpha}:{\xi}_0{\rightarrow}{\xi}_1$ such that the restriction ${\alpha}:{\xi}_0{\mid}A{\longrightarrow}{\xi}_1{\mid}A$ is an isomorphism. Let $S_k(X,A)$ be the set of all difference isomorphism classes over (X, A) of k-dimensional vector bundles over X with fibre $F^k$. Then $S_F(X,A)=\{S_k(X,A)\}_{k=0,1,{\cdots}}$, is a semigroup with Whitney Sum (${\S}2$). In this paper, we shall prove a relation between $Vect_F(X)$ and $S_F(X,A)$ under some conditions (Theorem 2, which is the main theorem of this paper). We shall use the following theorem in the paper. THEOREM 1. Let ${\xi}=(E,P,B)$ be a locally trivial bundle with fibre F, where (B, A) is a relative CW-complex. Then all cross sections S of ${\xi}{\mid}A$ prolong to a cross section $S^*$ of ${\xi}$ under either of the following hypothesis: (H1) The space F is (m-1)-connected for each $m{\leq}dim$ B. MILK PROTEIN POLYMORPHISMS AS GENETIC MARKER IN KOREAN NATIVE CATTLE

  • Genetic variants of ${\alpha}s_1$-casein, ${\beta}$-casein, ${\kappa}$-casein and ${\beta}$-lactoglobulin were investigated by starch urea gel electrophoresis in milk samples of 280 Korean native cattle. A new ${\beta}$-casein variant, designated ${\beta}$-casein $A^4$, was found in milk samples of Korean native cattle. It has a much slower electrophoretic mobility than the ${\beta}$-casein $A^3$ variant in acid gel. This new variant appeared together with either ${\beta}$-casein $A^1$, $A^2$ or B variant. Gene frequencies and genotypic frequencies were estimated. Gene frequencies of four milk protein loci in Korean native cattle were compared with those of imported cattle breeds raised in Korea and Japanese brown cattle. Gene frequencies were ${\alpha}s_1$-casein B .846, ${\alpha}s_1$-casein C .154; ${\beta}$-casein $A^1$ .216, ${\beta}$-casein $A^2$ .666, ${\beta}$-casein $A^4$ .048, ${\beta}$-casein B .070; ${\kappa}$-casein A .648, ${\kappa}$-casein B .352; ${\beta}$-lactoglobulin A .148, ${\beta}$-lactoglobulin B .852. The population was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium at all milk protein loci. Gene frequencies of Korean native cattle were very similar to those of Japanese brown cattle. Interestingly, a new variant, ${\beta}$-casein $A^4$, was found only in Korean native cattle and Japanese brown cattle. These results support the hypothesis that Korean native cattle were used in the development of the Japanese brown cattle.

핵소체 단백 B23과 세포질 단백 p80의 유사성에 관한 연구 (Study of an ER bound p80 Homologous to Nucleolar B23)

  • Protein B23 is one of the major nucleolar phosphoproteins associated with pre-ribosomal particles, and is localized in the granular region of the nucleolus. Recent studies suggest that protein B23 shuttles between nucleus and cytoplasm and also interacts with HIV Rev. These findings indicate that protein B23 is important in nucleocytoplasmic relationship and viral replication. However, the exact function of protein B23 is not clear yet. In acute nucleolar hypertrophy of rat liver, treated with thioacetamide, there was observed an increase of not only protein B23 but also B23-like protein p45 when anti-B23 monoclonal antibody (MAb) was used for identification. On the basis of the large B23 specific epitope structure composed of 68 amino acids, a hypothesis was formulated to examine that p45 is the pre-B23 resulting from excessive production of B23. In an attempt to investigate the precursor of B23, we analyzed the subcellular fractions and microsomal subfractions. Subsequently, we analyzed the finger printings of B23-like proteins using the tryptic peptide mapping. The results are summarized: 1) Using B23 MAb, we observed the presence of B23-like proteins in nucleolar fraction, nucleoplasmic fraction and microsomal fraction. 2) In the further microsomal subfractionation, we could partially purify B23-like protein in 2M layer of sucrose gradient. 3) When ion exchange chromatography was employed, there were protein species 80kDa(p80), 65kDa(p65) and 60kDa(p60). 4) Based on the tryptic map analysis of $^{125}I$ labeled proteins, the similarity between B23 and p80 was found only in 9 out of 14(B23) and 21(p80) peptides, and difference was found in the remaining peptides. p80 and p60 had 18 common peptides, and all the peptides of p60 were similar to those of p80. From these results, it is proposed that p45 is an abnormal metabolite resulting from carcinogenesis by thioacetamide, and it is not the precursor of B23. In addition, we suggest that p80 may be a precursor of p45.

이동물체 추적을 위한 실시간 Hausdorff 정합 알고리즘 (Real-time Hausdorff Matching Algorithm for Tracking of Moving Object)

  • 본 연구에서는 능동카메라에서 취득된 영상에서 이동물체를 효율적으로 추적하기위한 실시간 Hausdorff 정합 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 알고리즘은 이동물체의 윤곽선영상을모델로 사용하고, Hausdorff 거리를 모델과 영상사이의 동일성 판별을 위한 평가함수로 사용하였으며, 실시간 처리를 위하여 Hausdorff 거리를 고속으로 계산하기 위한 등가변환방법과 기존 탐색알고리즘의 탐색회수를 줄이고 성능을 개선할 수 있는 반 교차정합기법을 제안하였다. 실험영상에 대한 모의실험 결과 제안한 알고리즘은 이동물체의 위치를 정확히 탐색할 수 있으며, 실시간 처리가 가능하도록 처리시간을 단축시킬 수 있음을 입증하였다.

FUMONISIN $B_1$IN DEVELOPING RATS ALTERS BRAIN SPHINGANINE LEVELS AND MYELINATTON.

Neurotoxiciligy. objectives of this study were to test the hypothesis that fumonisin $B_1$ ($FB_1$) alters sphinganine (Sa) levels and myelin synthesis in the central nervous system of developing rats. $FB_1$ (subcutaneous, 0. 4 or 0. 8 mg/kg/day) from postnatal days (PND) 3 to PND 12 resulted in a significantly increased in the brain of rats given 0. 8 mg $FB_1$/kg/day. To confirm the effect of limited nutrition on changes in the Sa levels and myelinogenesis, rats given 0.8mg $FB_1$/kg/day or treated by limited nutrition (temporary removal from dam during postnatal period) were compared to those in saline controls. Sa levels and Sa/So ratios were compared to those in saline in the 0.8 $FB_1$-treated, 3'-phosphohydrolase (CNP) activities were decreased significantly in both nutritionally limited and $FB_1$-exposed rats. These data indicate that sphingolipid metabolism in the central nervous system of develiping rats is vulnerable to $FB_1$ exposure. The hypomyelination associated with $FB_1$-treatment may be mediated by limited nutrition.

  • 최근 국내 전자상거래시장은 산업전반에 전자상거래의 확산을 통해 괄목할 만한 성장을 이루고 있다. 그럼에도 우리 중소기업의 전자상거래 활용 비율은 매우 저조한 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이렇게 중소기업의 B2B 전자상거래시장 참여율이 저조한 이유는 다양한 원인이 있을 수 있으나, 중소기업이 참여하는 B2B 전자상거래시장의 특성을 고려한 실증적 성과 측정 및 평가의 부재도 주요한 원인으로 사료된다. 따라서 본 연구는 B2B 전자상거래 참여기업이라면 대부분 활용경험이 있는 공적신용보증기관이 e-Marketplace와 연계하여 제공하고 있는 전자상거래 보증 이용기업을 대상으로 B2B 전자상거래 활용효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 선행 연구를 통하여 도출한 14개 재무관련 항목을 이용하여 재무적 관점에서 경영성과 분석 및 가설검증을 진행하였다. 본 연구결과를 통한 시사점은 B2B 전자상거래 보증 이용기업의 재무적 관점의 실증적 성과분석이 향후 B2B 전자상거래 보증의 활성화를 위한 정책수립의 기초자료로 활용되어 중소기업의 전자상거래 확대 지원을 통해 안정적인 비즈니스 환경을 구축하는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

프루텔고치벌 브라코바이러스(Cotesia plutellae Bracovirus) 유래 $I_{k}B$ 유전자 구조와 피기생 배추좀나방(Plutella xylostella) 체내 발현 패턴 (Gene Structure of Cotesia plutellae Bracovirus (CpBV)-$I_{k}B$ and Its Expression Pattern in the Parasitized Diamondback Moth, Plutella xylostella)

  • 프루텔고치벌(Cotesia plutellae)은 내부기생봉이고 kB억제자 (IkB)와 유사한 유전자가 이 기생봉의 절대 공생바이러스(C. plutellae bracovirus: CpBV) 게놈에서 발견되었다. 이 유전자의 발현 부위는 417 br의 크기이며 138개 아미노산 서열 정보를 포함하였다. 이 단백질은 4개의 ankyrin 반복영역을 지니고 있었으며, 알려진 다른 폴리드나바이러스 유래 IkB 유전자와 높은 상동성을 보였다. 초파리 Cactus 단백질을 통해 대상 기주 IkB와 비교하여 보면, IkB 신호수신영역이 부재하는 구조를 보여, CpBV-IkB는 NFkB 신호전달체계의 비가역적 억제 인자로 작용할 것으로 추정되었다. CpBV-IkB는 프루텔고치 벌에 기생된 배추좀나방에서만 발현되었다. 정량적 RT-PCR 방법으로 CpBV-IkB의 발현량을 조사하여 보면, 기생 첫날부터 발현을 보이기 시작하여 뚜렷한 발현량을 기생 전체 기간동안 유지하는 양상을 보였다. 이 CpBV-IkB의 기능 분석이 간접적으로 이뤄졌으며, 이 유전자 발현물이 대상 기주 항바이러스 억제 인자로 작용할 것이라는 가설을 제시하였다.

Polyadenylation Is Dispensable for Encapsidation and Reverse Transcription of Hepatitis B viral Pregenomic RNA

  • A hepadnaviruses replicates its DNA genome via reverse transcription of an RNA template (pregenomic RNA or pgRNA), which has a cap structure at the 5' end and a poly(A) tail at the 3' end. We have previously shown that the 5' cap is indispensable for encapsidation of the pgRNA. A speculative extension of the above finding is that the cap contributes to encapsidation via its interaction with the poly(A) tail, possibly involving eIF4E-eIF4G-PABP interaction. To test this hypothesis, poly(A)-less pgRNAs were generated via cleavage by a cis-acting hepatitis delta virus ribozyme sequence. We found that accumulation of the poly(A)-less pgRNA was markedly diminished, mostly likely due to its reduced stability. Importantly, however, the remaining poly(A)-less pgRNAs were nonetheless encapsidated and reverse transcribed normally when the reduced stability was taken account. Our finding clearly contradicts the notion that the poly(A) tail has any function in encapsidation and viral reverse transcription.
