가스화기술을 이용한 수소제조 기술 (Hydrogen Production by Gasification Technologies)

  • 가스화기술은 전세계적으로 수소에너지 사회로 진입하는 과정에서 필요한 대량수소 공급체계를 구축하는데 중단기적으로 필요한 기술이다. 장기적으로는 풍력이나 태양광과 같은 순수한 재생가능에너지에 기반한 수소공급 체계로 발전될 것이나, 향후 10-20년간 대량수순 제조가 필요하다면 경제성이 있는 기술을 $CO_2$ 발생이 최소화되면서 효율도 높은 기술로 발전시켜 적용하는 방향으로 진행될 것이다. 특히, 국내에서는 천연가스, 석탄, 중질잔사유, 폐기물, 바이오매스 등의 원료로부터 출발한 수소제조가 경제적인 측면에서 유리하므로 최소한 중단기적으로는 활용될 것으로 보인다 수소에너지 이슈가 부각되는 배경중의 하나가 기후변화협약에 대응한 $CO_2$저감의 필요성이므로, 이들 중단기적으로 활용될 원료들의 수소제조기술들은 반드시 $CO_2$저감이 가능한 기술로서 개발되어야 한다.

고온 수전해에 의한 수소 제조 기술 (Hydrogen Production Technology using High Temperature Electrolysis)

  • High temperature electrolysis (HTE) can become a key target technology for fulfilling the hydrogen requirement for the future hydrogen economy. This technology is based upon the partial replacement of electricity with heat energy for the electrolysis. Although the current research status of high temperature electrolysis in many countries remains at the small laboratory scale, the technology has great potential for producing hydrogen at a higher efficiency than low-temperature electrolysis (LTE). The efficiency of LTE is not expected to rise above 40%, whereas the efficiency of HTE has been reported to be above 50%. The higher efficiency of HTE would reduce costs by more than 30% compared to LTE. In this study, the technical data regarding the HTE of water and the resulting hydrogen production are reviewed, with an emphasis on the application of high temperature solid electrolyte and oxide electrodes for the HTE process.

무인 비행체용 연료전지 시스템 위험요소 분석을 통한 안전기준 개발 연구 (A Study on the Development of Safety Standard through the Risk Assessment for Fuel Cell System Applied to UAV)

  • Fuel cell powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are globally being developed for various application according to hydrogen roadmap. However, safety standards for hydrogen fuel cell for UAV have not been established. Therefore, in this study, we derive safety data based on risk assessment to develop safety standards for fuel cells for UAV. We use fault tree analysis method which is broadly used in hydrogen facilities as a risk assessment tool. We set hydrogen leaks and fires as top events and derived the basic events. Safety data for the basic events were derived by quoting overseas safety standards related to fuel cells. The safety data will be used for developing fuel cell inspection standard according to Act on Hydrogen Economy Promotion and Hydrogen Safety Management.

  • In the hope of realizing carbon neutrality, Korea has established the goal of expanding the supply of hydrogen electric vehicles through a roadmap to revitalize the hydrogen economy. A prerequisite for successful supply expansion is securing the safety of hydrogen electric vehicles. Certain parts, such as the hydrogen transport pipe and tank, in hydrogen electric vehicles are exposed to high-pressure hydrogen gas over long periods of time, so the hydrogen enters the grain boundary of material, resulting in a degradation of the parts referred to as hydrogen embrittlement. In addition, since the safety of parts utilizing hydrogen varies depending on the type of material used and its environmental characteristics, the necessity for the enactment of a hydrogen embrittlement regulation has emerged and is still being discussed as a Global Technical Regulation (GTR). In this paper, we analyze a hydrogen compatibility material evaluation method discussed in GTR and present a direction for the development of Korean-type hydrogen compatibility material evaluation methods.

국내 수소충전소의 적정 용량 분석 (Study on the Optimum Capacity Analysis for Hydrogen Fueling Station in Korea)

  • At present, hydrogen is emerging as a future energy source based on environment-friendly aspect, creation of new industry, and enhancement of domestic energy security. In accordance with it, the world's leading automobile companies are focusing on the development and commercialization of hydrogen electric vehicle technology, and each country is strengthening its hydrogen fueling station deployment strategy for its own country. Furthermore, the supply of hydrogen fueling stations is actively promoting under national support. More than 500 hydrogen fueling stations are being constructed, operated and planned around the world. The introduction of hydrogen energy is also progressing in Korea, by announcing road-map to supply hydrogen electric vehicles and hydrogen fueling stations by year. However, there is insufficient discussion on the capacity of hydrogen fueling station in Korea. Therefore, this study suggests the optimum capacity of hydrogen fuelling station for domestic hydrogen economy.

수소에너지의 승용차부문 도입에 따른 CO2 배출 감축 및 비용효과 분석 연구 (An Analysis on CO2 Emission and Cost Effects of Hydrogen Energy in Sedan Sector)

  • As one of the alternative solution for energy and environmental issues such as climate change, energy security, oil price, etc., hydrogen energy has been getting so much attentions these days. This paper analyzed the $CO_2$ emission, costs, and energy consumptions when the hydrogen energy was introduced to transportation, specifically in Sedan sector using the energy system model, MARKAL. As results, 21.5% of $CO_2$ emission in 2040 could be reduced and additional 76 billion dollars will be needed in the high energy price scenario. The amount of energy saving mainly due to the replacement of existing car to hydrogen vehicle was 16% of the final energy consumption in 2040.

  • Nuclear energy plays an important role in world energy production by supplying 6% of the world's current total electricity production. However, 86% of the energy consumed worldwide to produce industrial process heat, to generate electricity and to power the transportation sector still originates in fossil fuels. To cope with dwindling fossil fuels and climate change, it is clear that a clean alternative energy that can replace fossil fuels in these sectors is urgently required. Clean hydrogen energy is one such alternative. Clean hydrogen can play an important role not only in synthetic fuel production but also through powering fuel cells in the anticipated hydrogen economy. With the introduction of the high temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) that can produce nuclear heat up to $950^{\circ}C$ without greenhouse gas emissions, nuclear power is poised to broaden its mission beyond electricity generation to the provision of nuclear process heat and the massive production of hydrogen. In this paper, the features and potential of the HTGR as the energy source of the future are addressed. Perspectives on nuclear heat and hydrogen applications using the HTGR are discussed.

수소연료전지자동차 보급을 위한 정부의 역할: 한국과 일본의 사례를 중심으로 (The Role of Government to Supply Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle in Korea and Japan)

  • A fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) could be an alternative solution to gasoline powered vehicles. The Korean and Japanese governments have played the midwifery role in the development of the FCEV industry. This study explores the difference in policy goals for FCEV between the two countries. Koreans recognized that FCEV was innovative technology and put forward the notion of technology pre-occupancy. Whereas, the Japanese government discovered that FCEV was one way to apply hydrogen mechanisms, so they identified the supply of hydrogen as one of the industries of interest, and have played the demiurge role. This study suggests that the role of government is to introduce eco-friendly vehicles, using the cases of Korean and Japanese governments, who introduced FCEV to the world first.

  • 물을 전기분해하여 얻은 일정 부피비를 갖는 수소와 산소 혼합가스를 수산화가스로 명명하며, 이를 역반응시켜서 열 에너지원으로 사용하고 있다. 수산화가스는 경제성, 안전성 및 환경친화적인 고유한 특성을 지니고 있어서 현재 가스용접기에 적용하고 있으며 여러 가지 응용분야에 적용할 수 있도록 연구 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 수산화가스의 특성에 관하여 고찰하고 발생기용 전원에 대하여 소개하고 이 중에서 아직까지 적용되지 않은 펄스전원을 적용하여 여러 가지 운전주파수에서 비교분석 하였다.
