This study was conducted to examine O'leary index, patient hygiene performance (PHP) index, and toothbrushing practice assessment in subjects of college students in 20s who had been randomly selected. The purpose of this study is to examine if it is easy for rolling method which is recommended by many dental professionals in Korea to implement and to effectively remove dental plaque. Also, the correlations between dental plaque index and toothbrushing practice assessment with the course of time was confirmed, after instruction session on toothbrushing was provided. STATA 11.0 (StataCorp) was used for analysis. There was no significant difference on the three ways of O'leary index, PHP index, and toothbrushing practice assessment in using rolling method, bass technique and toothpick method when comparing the average resulting from first to third instruction session on toothbrushing. O'leary index, PHP index, and toothbrushing practice assessment were inspected with Kruskal-Wallis test which is used for non-parametric statistics. They were checked three times: the first, before the toothbrushing instruction was given; the second, two weeks after the toothbrushing session was given; and the third, 4 weeks after the session. The results are as follows: O'leary index stood at the lowest in the first experiment but showed the highest in the second (p=0.0001). PHP index was the highest level in the first trial and decreased in the second time, but increased again in the last examination (p=0.0001). Toothbrushing practice assessment also showed a similar tendency with PHP index (p=0.0001). In conclusion, rolling method is not the best option for everyone, and it is thought that more various toothbrushing ways need to be reviewed and recommended to people. Also, institutional framework is required for the continuous education on toothbrushing to be in place as the effectiveness of the education is decreased with time.
The purpose of this study is to verify factors affecting the use of dental hygiene care products in adults. The study used a nationally representative sample of Koreans (2013 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) aged 19 years over (n=4,839). Dependent variable was frequency of tooth brushing per day, use of dental floss, use of interdental brush and use of mouth rinse. Independent variable was sociodemographic factors, health behaviors, perceived health and oral health conditions. The chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were performed to identify the factors affecting the use of dental hygiene care products. All analyses were performed using PASW Statistics version 18.0. Resulting of chi-square test, the use of oral hygiene care products was statistically significant with gender, age, education level, household income, marital status, dental utilization, dental examination. Resulting of logistic regression, in female, the higher the education level was identified as common factors for variables in use of dental hygiene care products. Dental hygienist among dental professionals should play an important role as contributor to the national oral health promotion that recognizes the impact of each factor by refining dental hygiene care products and reflect personal characteristics and preferences through the oral health educational media and program development.
To investigate the necessity of periodontal treatments, and the association of the health lifestyle with periodontal treatments, the data of 11,488 adults targeted in the 5th (2010, 2012) National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were used in this study. Chi-squared test was conducted to compare the subjects' general features with the health lifestyle of the patients who needed periodontal treatments. Logistic regression analyses were conducted to confirm the variables that could affect the necessity of periodontal treatments. As a result of verifying the necessity of periodontal treatments according to the general features and health lifestyle, the necessity decreased with the higher income level and education level, and in the cases of nonsmokers, frequent toothbrushing, and using oral hygiene products. When the subjects who did not had oral examinations, their necessity for periodontal treatments significantly increased (p<0.01). The variables that affected the necessity of periodontal treatments included residence, gender, education level, obesity, and oral examinations (p<0.01). Therefore, health lifestyle was thought an important variable that had affected the oral health status. Professional dental hygienists must provide people with action programs of health lifestyle to promote the national oral health status.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of pre-service early childhood teachers' self-expression and stress coping style on their human nature. More specifically, this study attempted to investigate how teachers' human nature, self-expression and stress coping style are correlated with another and determine how much human nature is influenced by the other variables, ultimately providing basic information necessary for improving the humanity of pre-service preschool teachers. Findings of the study can be summarized as follows. First, correlations among pre-service early childhood teachers' self-expression, stress coping style and human nature were investigated to find that those teachers' human nature and self-expression have close relationships with each other and that the two variables are significantly related with their stress coping style. Second, the influences of pre-service preschool teachers' self-expression and stress coping style on their human nature were analyzed to find that the human nature of those teachers as a whole and some sub-areas of the variables like positive self-concept and human creativity have significant relationships with their self-expression and stress coping style. Finally, based on these findings, this study discussed how to establish and manage a curriculum that helps to improve the human nature of pre-service early childhood teachers of junior colleges. It also hopes to find effective ways to manage the department of education.
The present paper discusses the relationship between human being and space through 'recognition.' Recognition is the natural desire of human being. Every human being wants to be recognized for what they do in everywhere. Human being enhances their own identity and fight for the raison d'etre to be recognized by others. Hegel's recognition is grounded by a process of mutual recognition based on the subject-object view of human beings. On the other hand, the recognition based on inter-subjectivity is founded by the view of human beings emphasizing "we" on the basis of the relationship between you and I. These two meanings of recognition make it possible to newly recognize the relationship between human beings and space. In the paper, I emphasize the role of geography about the invisible space over the geographical recognition regarding the visible space dealing in previously geography. I expect to be recovered the nature of geography by revealing the invisible space. Also, the geographical discovery is presented about two spaces including inaudible space and unwritable space but having story via '$\acute{e}$criture blanche.' In terms of the discovery, I criticize irrationalities and discrepancies of our society and suggest ways of solving problems. The goal of the discussion is to support the overcoming of the immediate geography crisis as well as communicate with the world as humanity.

This study investigated the trends in the number of applicants and mean score and applicants' responses on the test items of 'science inquiry' of the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) implemented for 3 years$(1999\;{\sim}2001)$. The results of this study were as follows: The percentage of applicants of science track for 1995 CSAT were 43.13%, but reduced to 29.5% for 2001 CSAT. And unlike other tracks, the percentage of male applicants, ranking above average, of science track was 65.58%, which is about twofold of female applicants(34.42%). The mean score of 'Science inquiry' was 58.6 in 1999, and 69.5 in 2001. And the score of the applicants, ranking above average, of humanity and social science course and science course, were 85.8 and 90.7 respectfully in 2001 CSAT. These high mean scores were caused by the policy of "easy CSAT" so called. Most of test items were developed to have difficulty 60-79% or above 80%. This easy CSAT provoked intense dispute about the discriminating power of CSAT. The mean score of male applicants was higher than that of female. But the difference decreases every year. Applicants were generally very good at solving tests focusing on process skills only but poor at solving tests related to physics or calling for two or more science concepts. Thus special measures to cope with the decrease in applicants, especially female applicants, for science track should be provided. To increase discriminating power of CSAT, it is recommended to develop test items with wider range of difficulty and to reduce test items which are focussing process skills and can be solved without any special science concepts. And special consideration should be given to teaching the content area with poor achievement and high actual difficulty compared to the expected.

This study aims to investigate how high school teachers and students perceive the purpose of science learning. Participants were high school science teachers and students from one hundred and sixty high schools nationwide, which were selected through proportional stratified sampling method. Teachers and students responded on open-ended questionnaires about the purpose of science learning. The data were analyzed using the semantic network analysis method. Our study illustrates three major finding: First, teachers recognized the intrinsic value related to cognitive domain as the more important purpose of science learning, while students recognized the extrinsic value related to personal usefulness domain as more important. Second, teachers' responses were significantly different depending on the teaching career. Beginning teachers believed both intrinsic and extrinsic values were equally important, while experienced teachers believed the cognitive domain about understanding of scientific knowledge was more important than intrinsic values. In other words, the differences in perception of the purpose of science between teachers and students, the experienced teachers is greater than the beginning teachers. Finally, students' responses were different depending on their academic track. Humanity major students recognized that learning science made their everyday-life easier while science major students recognized that learning science should be related to their future careers. In conclusion, the results of this study is expected to be of use as the basic data to identify the characteristic of teachers and students related to science.
This study aims to present a plan to develop the funeral culture industry based on the results of a survey on the contents of funeral culture awareness, funeral culture industry development, and funeral culture education according to age groups. The survey in this study was researched by Gallup Korea, and the survey method was an online research using a structured questionnaire. The survey was conducted twice, from February 5, 2021 to February 8, 2021, and from February 18, 2021 to February 19, 2021. The effective subjects are 316, and the sampling method is allocated by sex and age. As a result of the study, cremation was preferred by all age groups, and the places where cremated remains were placed were high in the natural burials and ossuary hall. Although there are some differences by age groups, it was surveyed that generally, the elderly than the younger were less reluctant to sign up for condolence products, funerals in life, farewell trips, purchase farewell travel products, funeral insurance, and counsel with death-related experts. The results of this study are expected to contribute to interdisciplinary convergence research on the recognition and development of the funeral culture industry.
This study was to analyze the students' engagement in regular curriculum and extra-curriculum and its effects on learning outcomes in higher education. Students' engagement was analysed by high order learning, reflective and integrative learning, learning strategies, collaborative learning, discussions with diverse others, and high impact activities. To achieve the purpose of this study, 392 students joined in K-NSSE were participated. To analyze the datum, frequency analysis, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed using IBM SPSS 25.0 program. The following results were obtained. First, students' engagement was generally very low, especially in high impact activities which has an effect on the students' achievement. And compared to the students' engagement in the college of humanity and social science, the students' engagement in engineering college were very low. Learning outcomes were influenced by the high impact activities, high-order learning, and discussions with diverse others. So to reinforce students' engagement in learning process, this study proposed a curriculum-extracurriculum integrated system. And to improvement students' engagement, teaching and learning support programs including high impact activities. high order learning, and discussions with diverse others were proposed to be developed and operated.

Recently, the keyword 'convergence' has emerged in the education field. The voice of demand for the humanities is also increasing. The range of convergence of the humanities is gradually spreading to various fields such as science, technology, engineering, and the arts field. And also, the trend is to nurture the future creative convergence talent with logical, comprehensive, and creative thinking through the fusion of humanities, scientific, and empirical theories. Myths and legends contain the content of humanity's culture creation and deal with matters such as religion, philosophy, art, and science. Therefore, through the consciousness of the ancients who lived in the so-called convergence era when academic differentiation did not occur, it will be possible to reflect on the appearance of sages. In this paper, we propose a method for educating Chinese culture through the analysis of by Wen Yi-Duo, a famous Chinese scholar. He sought to find the origin of Chinese culture through myths and legends and to find national identity by restoring the concept of national culture in the period of origin. The myths and legends of China are closely related to the cultural phenomena of modern China, which will further enhance our understanding of China.
